Fence in Place

Very nice! Adds to the politically autistic value of Water Street and Peru. Not only the fence but the entire contents of the picture shows what the governing body of Peru has been up to.
With such a positive picture of Peru it is surprising so many of Peru's young adults do not stay at or return home upon the completion of their education.
The last two years of political bantering over the site upon which the fireworks are to be held should have been utilized to better Peru and to create a presentable location for the fireworks.
The state of the city is that presently Peru has a fence at Water Street, on U.S.6 in front of the bank and at the Peru Water Retention Pond in Washington Park. Seriously would Peru presently be a town that you would want to invest a lot of money into?
If this has been evidence of what "Change in 09" can do no wonder people are always referring to the "Good Old Days"!
The last three years have been a education for the old as well as the young. This coming election hope that it is a lesson well learned.

With minor fence work, the pickleball courts could have been placed on the patio and in the baby area of the pool. After all, pickleball can be played anywhere ! We just needed a place within walking distance of the Ambassador's house.

Good idea!

This was all about someone with the right connections getting what they wanted and I think most people see that now. Sad to know this can happen in Peru.

Hey city of Peru...here's a thought! Why don't you turn the old pool into an addititional city sewage treatment plant? It would make a great holding reservoir for this application. At least you would save the tax payers some money.

The fence should have been in place through the entire demolition process, but a snow fence on the road is also a good security!

We were told at the last council meeting that regarding the swimming pool, that they went out for bids on hauling away the debris and they got NO bids. Related by GB

That a good one Lois .
I have a comment about the signs for the road work beening done in the city .Don't you think it would of been better if it the signs said ( BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE TAX PAYERS OF PERU ! )Then ( THE CITY OF PERU )? where the heck do they think the money came from ?

This is like bidding for the lawn mower purchase ?
There was no announcement for bids being accepted for removal of the pool. This just makes it easier when they announce that IV Excavating wins the bid for a ridiculous amount. Do your homework council members. Check with local excavation and trucking and hauling companies . You'll see that once again Bleck is lying! ! He is useless and wastes our tax dollars. It was proved that he lied about bidding for the new lawnmower. Glad citizens are starting to look into thing on their own to prove the supers are bold faced liars!

I found it very strange NO BIDS, after we have been getting good bids on everything we bid out. All of a sudden people who do that kind of work don't need the work anymore. I agree that council members should start checking on things themselves. But I would be surprised if they did. The 2 new members that are taking their position seriously already have their hands full trying to keep the city from totally going down the drain. If you follow this blog, you already know who they are and 2nd ward you can be proud of your aldermen.

Lois i follow this blog and are unsure about who you speak of

I have to agree 4:05, second ward alderman/alderwoman are doing a fantastic job of keeping up with things. I havent seen much come out of the other two: alderman lukosus or radtke. Is anybody aware if there are going to be individuals running against either of these two?

Anon 11:00 AM Whats makes you believe that both of these aldermen are going to run for a alderpersons position. Lukosus has not run for alderman before and was appointed by the Mayor. As for the interest shown by him toward city government when he came to city council meetings two weeks before his appointment by Mayor Harl everyone was asking who he was, completely unknown and never seen at a meeting before.
Alderman Radke pounded the pavement far, wide and hard in his campaign for election and deserves time to be judged upon his maturity in a political position. When explaining why he decided to vote for or against his reasoning seems to be of good logic and well thought out.

9:32 You may think his vote is a result of good logic but that doesn't always mean that it's the best decision for the citizens of Peru or the citizens in his ward.

9:32 Has he come to you and discussed a situation that may affect you or your ward before he cast his vote?
