Just went up to the 28th street park and I will post pictures. The ambassador and a lady were playing pickle ball. The court is totally redone and tennis is out. Why can a private individual attach a chain and padlock to the gates of the court and only he has access to the court. He is using city property supported by your tax dollars and no one unless they are accompanied by Grabowski is allowed to play pickleball because the gates are locked and he has the key.
So if you have been thinking there is something anywhere on city property that you would like for your own use, I guess just get some chain and a padlock and secure it for yourself. If one is allowed to do it, then everyone should be entitled to their little piece of private property that you probably paid for anyway.

Was any of this discussed at the meeting last night?

For all the years, that park has been in existence there have been no toliet facilities. Voila! a porta potty was brought in today and guess where they positioned it...right next to the childrens playground equipment. How nice and considerate to families bringing their children to play on the old, rusting and broken equipment. They need sand under the slide and swings and have since March that I am aware of.
You know how we always hear about a shortage of workers in the Public Works department? Can't get everything done, like garbage picked up and that kind of park care which presents to the public what kind of caring town we are...Well today, I want you to know that city employees spent many hours working on the pickleball courts, permanently attaching the nets to what was a tennis court used daily by the residents around the park. No more you can go find your self another location because the "pickleball ambassador" wants this park.

Just keep reminding yourself in Peru, the winner is always the one who knows someone and not because he knows anything.

Justin, not a word was said. I guess that is because in the minds of the mayor and council members, nothing more needed to be discussed. I hope to see all of them participating in the new found game.

Obviously the court was ready to be used today as witnessed by Grabowski and friends. So, why then, were padlocks attached to each gate and why does Grabowski have a key? I thought this was a CITY PARK owned by ALL PERU RESIDENTS. That is most definitely WRONG!!

I wonder who is paying for the bicycle and sign the ambassador is riding?

The ambassador has a key because he is able to do anything he pleases, and the mayor and council allow it to happen. Something better be done about those locked gates because this guy just does not know when to stop.

What is with this guy? Just who does he think he is locking the gates in a public park.

Just remember what has transpired this summer at one of our parks when you go to the polling place in April of next year. That is when we can make our voices heard, because no one is listening now.

11:15. Well said. We put those people there, we can take them out

The ambassador is a good man. Thank you for bringing the sport I love to Peru!

How is locking the gate any different from locking an baseball announcer's booth or ice skating rink? Maybe the ambassador wants to protect the city's investment instead of leaving it open for vandals.

Bravo, prez Hartman and Park Board. I think we'll survive with 1 of our tennis courts being used as a Pickleball court.

Check out the Rockford paper about a suit against pickleball and it's supporters

I went up to 28th Street Park this morning before work to check out the locked gate. What nobody mentioned is that the other gate on the other side of the court is unlocked and can easily be opened. I just spoke to Bryan Hartman and the lock will be taken off from the other side, and also from Sunset Park. The locks on Washington Park will stay until Monday. The locks were put on because the paint was not finished drying.

Peru Town Forum said...

Thank you Sherry, When I took that picture of the lock on the gate the court was in use by Jim and another person and he had the key to open the other gate when he came to play.

If the locks were there because the paint was not dry yet why did he have the key and not the city? Or why was he playing with the locks still on? did his company paint the court?

Anonymous said...

The paint must have been dried because they were playing on it yesterday morning. So why then were the locks put on when he left.

Anonymous said...

As you can plainly see in the picture they are playing on the court. Why then were the gates locked when he left?

Lois, as of right now the west gate remains locked.

wHO IS THIS GUY ANYWAY AND WHO MADE HIM AN AMBASSADOR OF ANYTHING ?

Anonymous said...

Nobody made him an ambassador, he proclaimed himself and told the city what he wanted.

Sherry 9:01: You were not being told the truth when it comes to Peru's tennis and pickleball courts. The west side gate on the pickleball court has yet to be unlocked and, if I'm not mistaken, this is a safety issue. What reason would there possibly be for this gate being locked? And, you were told that the gates at Washington Park's tennis courts would remain locked until Monday. WRONG! They are unlocked as of today (Saturday the 16th). Somebody is misinforming somebody here!

NEVER BELIEVE WHAT SOMEONE TELLS YOU! To get or find out the truth, one has to search themselves. Just being truthful!!!!!!!!!!!
