Are a few of these officials sleeping on the video?

Who cares if Peru businesses lose money? We are Peru if a business closes another one will open in that same spot within a week! If it's a restaurant losing money maybe they need to change their menu! And who was the brainless official that asked if all the signs were up? What a ridiculous question. I think people can see which retailers are up there they are just avoiding the area all together .
I use to stop at steak n shake or dairy queen a couple times a week after work I like shooting straight through that non stop intersection on my way home everyday, Those couple restaurants havent seen a dime of mine since this change because I'm not going to deal with that mess. So I believe it when they say those businesses are losing money.
To answer the question on Comcast- I have Direct TV.

Who can afford dish, cable, or satellite with the cost of the City of Peru utility bill for water, garbage, wastewater, landfill, cost adjustments.

Now the City is going out for bids for leaf collection wonder what that is going to cost us taxpayers-maybe if they were monitoring the landfill/compost heap properly...

THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND !

12:55 you don't sound like the typical everyday finer fast food patron. If you shoot straight thru that non-stop intersection you must either live in one of those hotels(hotel tax) or are lost going to happy hour. Your drama about the loss of retailers is a little bit overblown. I bet if they left the intersection the way it was you may be giving Mayor Harl the safety drama. Or maybe start a traffic safety watchgroup? And with the backups in the 251 intersection, you would be happy to wait in line for that pina colada slushie? Your comment shooting through the area would tell us that its free from traffic, and was that not the intention of the markings?

Why are we going out for leaf collection costs? Don 't we do that ourselves? We have the leaf vac. Why are we constantly going out for bid on so many projects that we should be able to do ourselves?

If we knew we needed signage, if we knew we needed markings, if we knew we needed cones & barricades, WHY DO WE WAIT UNTIL A MONTH AFTER TO PUT IT IN???? Did we have a project manager on this task? If so, fire them!! Once again, "reactive" Peru. Not proactive at all.

My quote would be"There is none so blind as those who will not see"

Seems to fit very well with the non action by Peru.

I work at Big Lots, a couple of us would take our 30 minute lunch at Dairy Q. or pick an order up at the mexican rest's but now we don't take the chance of being late after lunch because we have to drive in circles to get back. If we eat out it's Wendy's or Jimmy Johns. That area is messed up what a stupid idea. My 10 year old brother asked my dad if his snow plow will take them out. Did anyone think about that?

One of my main problems with this is the fact everyone assumes there were safety studies done and there were actual documented, heavily studied traffic problems. Usually those types of things are documented before changes are implemented. And usually, those problems are presented to the affected businesses along with proposed solutions for comment and hopefully consensus backing of a solution.

From all the research done, it appears that none of those things happened. None. Not one. They just kicked it around a few times, shared their anecdotal evidence, used that old standby common sense, then implemented it when one of the most concerned and affected aldermen was gone on vacation. And the amazing thing is that around here, that seems to be just fine with so many residents and other businesses. Just the Peru way I guess.

YOU HAVE TO PUT EVERYTHING OUT FOR BID SO ALL THE UNIONS MAKE MONEY. THATS WHAT YOU GET WITH YOUR UNION MAYOR! MORE AND MORE EXPENSE FOR YOU AND GIMME GIMME GIMME MORE $ FOR THEM.

I think they are getting bids for picking up the leaf bags mot vaccuming . Why should we pay 4-6 full-time guys to do it. Usually they waste the day away anyway. They head to the dump with 3 or 4 bags in the truck wasting gas. A private company would do it more efficiently because they would be using their money and not wasting taxpayer's money. This would be less teens to hire also. They should bid the mowing too like other cities do. Harl is always trying to compete/ do what other cities are unless it saves us money.

9:29 Are you serious? We should go out for bid and hire a company to do the work because our people are not doing it right? What's wrong with that picture? If those in charge can't get their people to do an honest day's work for very good pay then they (the leaders) and the workers themselves need to be replaced. We should, in my opinion, be doing more jobs in house because that would be putting taxpayers money to good use.

9:29 So, we should pay these 4-6 full time guys very good wages and also pay some company to do their job because they're not doing it right? If they can't handle that simple task without wasting our money what else will they be doing with their now free time?

The point is to eliminate their jobs. They don't want to work they can hit the road. No more hiring of full or part-time guys. Weed these wastes of space out including the supers. Less trucks to buy and less payroll.

I get your point 4:43 and I agree with you totally but you should know that that will never happen. We might hire a company to do their job but they won't be replaced or let go and neither will their supervisor. There's been a lot of wasted time and money for a long time and nothing has been done. Everyone pretty much knows what's going on and yet no that has the power will make the necessary changes.

I agree, The city should contract out the lawn service. sell the 20 lawnmowers, get rid of the summer slackers that waste mower fuel driving in circles and illegal driving from one end of the town to another. Between lawnmower purchases, maintenance, fuel, hourly wages, workmans comp, the city could get a better job done contracting it out, And the service would weed whip.
