If deli man voted to table it, why did he then vote to pass it?
Why did Alderwoman Mayszak motion to approve the airport ordinance because it appears a few aldermen had not seen that ordinance or had the opportunity to review it either from their questions. Why has the TIF attorney written the last 2 airport ordinances? "Approved as written and read" when Clerk Bartley did not read it?
Probably because she is on the Public Property committee and had the information on it . And also they all voted for it because it was the United Way and also I think they trust Chuck Studer to be upfront about the airport concerns on this one. But you could tell not all the aldermen had the information judging from Ferrari's question.
Trust is a strong word...my concern if the ramps that were approved for repair by Michilini at the public property meeting on 6/13 are also the same ramps being utilized for the United Way event? Are the tax payers on the hook for repairing those areas again less than 2 months later if they are damaged by a heavy cement or fire truck? Curious what/if there are load limits.
Different topic. Remembrance for Hall football player.Hall coach Tiemen acknowledged the presence of the LP football squad. Don't know many were there, but those who were there, showed a lot of class. Bet not one of these boys were involved throwing brick thru window. Good job guys. Proud Hall alumni.
I made that motion for United Way because I got the ordinance ahead of time. I had already read it. I compared it to the Concerts for a Cause ordinance. I asked Chuck Studer and Dave Bartley a few questions about it. Alderman Ankiewicz also had a copy of it ahead of time.
The ramp areas that were repaired by Steve Michelini are NOT the same areas being used by the United Way. The United Way will be on the north ramp, which is not used as much as the area that was repaired.
I also had a copy of the Rec Commission ordinance and was prepared to vote on that, but it was tabled.
The zoning ordinance had to do with something in the second ward, and I hadn't been informed about it.
Alderman Mayszak: Why did you have a copy of the Rec Commission ordinance and alderman Ankiewicz did not? He is on the same committee as you so I would have thought it had a copy. Was he just being himself?
There has been a trend towards female leadership in the United States as evidence with Elizabeth Dole, C. Rice, H. Clinton and S. Phalin etc. Recently Peru shows interest in catching onto this trend with Sherry, Lois and Kristy grabbing handfuls of responsibility in local politics. They are setting a extremely great example of making a positive effort to get things done through their co-operation with one another and with all others. If and as others follow this example the end results will be proven that Peru will be the winner.
Couple questions, Potthoff, and I believe it was Radtke that made it sound as though it's a simple ordinance on that garage to pass which I'm sure it was. But the whole point being is the aldermen didn't have the ordinance to review. Why would any official assume what is being read to them by an atty. especially one that never seems to have facts straight..trust him? I believe it was Perez that asked the atty if he had a copy and if he could quickly review it. It then sounded as though the atty. said something to the mayor and the request to see that ordinance was ignored! It is mind boggling to me that the city pays an atty to write ordinances and get them to the aldermen and he's not doing his job. So my question to Potthoff is- who is impeding progress, those aldermen or the atty. for not doing his job? As a tax payer of this city I do not want our officials passing any ordinance without having that opportunity to review a copy of it.
funny... So far this year, the City passed 69 ordinances. Of them, 23 where zoning related. Mostly variances of some sort. Lets see.... 33% of City of Peru legislation relates to the Zoning Code. I would guess this number is consistant for the past few years. This tells me that one of two things is going on. Either the People of Peru have unreasonable expectations concerning the use of their property or the Zoning Ordinance is not realistic. I counted LaSalle's ordinances - they had one variance this year. Somthing tells me this whole thing is nothing but a paper mill designed to make somebody money. Now that is the real problem that Mr. Perez shoud be pursuing.
Your comparing the Sec. of State with Lois, Kristy and Sherry? Positive influences that changed history......? Elizabeth Dole? C. Rice? Sarah Pallin? Nothing like having a few laughs on the blog site. Ollie, Krusty and Bozo were a few that changed the big top. Maybe that comparision is more fitting than Hillary, Condy Rice, Elizabeth Dole.
Good timing, I was just having a conversation with a friend about people just like you being associated with people in our city government. I don't think people need anymore explanation.
To have restrictions in public comment to 3 minutes is crazy. This isn't CNN OR FOX NEWS SEGMENTS WHERE THE REPORTER CUTS THE SPEAKER OFF. I had to blow my nose after watching council video meetings because I couldn't stop chuckling. Does anybody know who the guy In the red shirt is to the right of this tapping? Watch his actions! Also, I would bet whoever it is after seeing himself will sit somewhere else if he attends another meeting so he's bit on video. Just an observation.

6:56 I had a copy because I saw it was on the agenda, so I emailed Doug Schweickert's office and asked for a copy. Bob does not do email.
Kristy - you're welcome.

Anon 10:28 AM I'll 2nd that motion or I'll 3rd that motion. Oh! Heck I don't know what I'll do or mean I don't have the paperwork in my packet yet.

Great point Brian! Gee I wonder who exactly benefits every time an ordinance is written-those would be some $ figures worth researching!
