Intersection at 38 th and Venture Will Be Discussed by Popular Demand

Rodney Perez Yes, According to the managers from Mi Margarita, Home Depot, the Chinese Restaurant, and possibly Dairy Queen have intentions on attending.

This change was not discussed or approved by the full council before it was changed. So yes... We will need to revisit this!

This evening me and alderman Sherry Mayszak we met with several managers of businesses located on Venture Drive; these managers have voiced the same concerns that many of you have brought forward. Thanks again for all of your input, we will be sharing your concerns with the rest of the council. Again..Your input matters and we encourage our citizens to attend all city meetings. For dates and times please log onto the city web-page, or my Rodney Perez 2nd Ward Alderman FB page for updates. Thank you!

These excerpts came from FB and the Alderman approved me using them here on the blog. Evidently the 2 aldermen from the 2nd ward wee not advised ahead of time, that changes were in the works.

If you have a FB page go to the City of Peru (not Peru city) and read the 417 comments written.

I had difficulty accessing the agenda for tomorrow because it was written up in doc. form and not the standard PDF which is so easy as we all have Adobe Reader but not everyone has Works or Word and that includes me. Jennifer Nagle of WLPO came to my rescue with a copy. I think there is more to be discussed that is not on the agenda than what is printed on there.

Watch to see the changes that come out of the meeting regarding the Recreation Commission as Ald. Ankiewicz was not pleased with some of it and I hope he included everything that needs to be changed when he gave it to our city atty to make into an ordinance. I am not too trusting these days, of the activity taking place among the "good ole boys network"

Home depot and Target should be able to share sales index figures since the change. There should be enough sample data now that when combined will give an indication of the sales drop off. I would assume both have lost substantial business being at a completive disadvantage to Menards and Walmart now. I know I am shopping less at Target than before.
I would be surprised if the banks were not attending, first federals video logs would definitely show the increase in turnaround and mall entrance traffic through it's drive through.

I HOPE THAT THE MANAGERS OF THESE BUSINESSES SHOW EVERYONE THE STUPIDITY OF THIS ROAD DESIGN. IT'S JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF CHAMLIN'S SCREWUPS (OR BILL ETZENBACH'S) THAT THEY KEEP GETTING PAID FOR.

Looks like that intersection was another back door deli deal? keep it hush, do it and hope no one calls it out, How is it possible a change like that can be made without other aldermen knowing about it? Which alderman covers that area?
What a Joke Peru is!!!!

This might be confusing for people who have never been here before but Peruvians can access those northern businesses (north of 38th st) by Peoria St. or 38th St. The bank (Hometown) should have no restrictions on exiting, only have a yield sign. The problem for out of area drivers is getting back to 251. Post signs to Peoria St. or if they are smart enough they can turn into the Mall lot and double back. Now, my pet peeve is how the lights work at 38th and 251. Many times there is no traffic on 251 but the light still stays green. This creates the backup of those trying to get back onto 251. Get the sensors working properly and some of the problems can be solved. Illinois is notorious for not having the sensors working the way they should. And gas waste could be reduced.

The newspaper said the changes to the traffic pattern "came out of and were approved by" the Public Works Committee.
No surprise when you consider you have a "hair-stylist" with "zero" qualifications and "zero" capabilities to contribute anything useful to this committee or the city of Peru in general.
Although, while Waldorf certainly lacks any real knowledge of Public Works, he does do an excellent job of taking very good care of his drinking buddies Chris Perra (TEST) and Roger Chamlin (Chamlin & Associates) by protecting both of those companies from any and all potential competition for all those city dollars each year. Waldorf has learned well from his hero and mentor, Robert "No-Bid Bob" Ankiewicz.

Sounds like City Hall has a comunication problem which stems from the leadership. From many things posted on this blog and the newspaper it sure seems like those officials do as they please without seeking information from others in the council. I'm still floored by the statement made by alderman perez that aldermen of that area was not aware of that change. If that's a fact then what other behind the curtain changes have been made without approval of others. I thought this was a democracy? The City needs to video these meetings so things aren't hidden any longer.

Many of you people wanted the Harl Change" I sure hope many of you now see that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Harls way or the highway. Peru needs a city manager, this is nuts! Obviously Alderman Perez is planning on running for Mayor so i hope he has the cash to do it because Harl needs to go!
Alderman Perez--I know you are reading this so throw your hat in the race and get fundraisng or you'll be flattened.

everybody should check out who has been giving Harl money.

Wouldn't it be easier to close the mall entrance at that intersection and put the rest of the intersection back to what it was? There is another mall entrance a little further down anyway and the banks couldn't possibly generate that much traffic to where they need it open.

WHO's contributing $$$$ to campaign fund?? Who's picking up the bar bill for Happy Hour too. So true! I can remember in April 2009 when Peru got a new fire chief (voted by members of liberty, aka: volunteer fireman (P.O.C.(paid on call) members, that there were many many many social gatherings with selected member invites at bars. Who bought who drinks?? Wow! And who got voted in? What a political game, most play and some don't. Then when Harl became mayor he appointed FC, happened to be same person voted by it's members of Liberty Fire Company. To this day shouldn't such positions be advertised in paper for any person to apply since they are a city employee? For a mayor just to be able to appoint is wrong. Is there an ordinance regarding this hiring process, and if so was it followed by Mayor Harl?? Just curious .
