This blog is maintained for the sole purpose of allowing the people of Peru and those interested in the cities of the Illinois Valley to express their views.
“It doesn’t take a majority to win, just a tireless minority that will keep starting brush fires in the mind and hearts of their fellow men.” Samuel Adams
The point of injustice of the location of the Peru Pickle Ball Court has been proven. The inconsideration of Peru politicians and the Recreational Board in locating this court next to private homes is evident. The thoughtless act of taking a much used tennis court away from the neighborhood and its youth in years when a swimming pool has already been closed to enable the adult husband of a Rec Board member to have a pickle ball court next to his own home shows a need of reviewing the personnel who are on the Rec Board. The insensitivity of the aldermen and Rec Board towards the citizens when they appeared at meetings to express their grievances and hope for fair treatment has proven that they are not being truthfully listened to and the only recognition received has been nasty insults and being laughed at. The 28th street neighborhood has overextended themselves in trying to reach a fair outcome for all they have proven undue hardship and a change of environment that has lessened the enjoyment of their own property and have no reason to be embarrassed to force this issue through the court system to achieve their justification. It appears that the only opposition they have is the city government and the Recreation Board plus the in town and out of town pickle ball players. Initially take action now and force the issue when the present group who have created the issue are there to have to defend it. Secondly remember that elections are nearing and with different representation there could be modern updated thoughts rather than the 1957ish guidelines of a recreation board.
Who is responsible for the fireworks contract and what progress has been made? October is approaching and there has been no acknowledgement of progress?
