There are an estimated 863 hotel rooms ( as of sept 2011) available in the 10 mile radius, so not all may be Peru hotels, but we will be generous and use Gary Hylla fantasy accounting methods and say they all are. The actual Concert increase in rooms rented is estimated to be about 25 percent of the capacity, but we will use Gary Hylla fantasy accounting and say every darn room was Kid Rock fans, all 863 rooms!  With an average room rate of 125 dollars and a .047 city hotel tax rate, that comes out to the great big sum of..... Wait for it....

5070 whole dollars!

Of course, in real world accounting it would be more like 1500 dollars, but we like to optimistic in reporting to the FAA.

And since this concert cost this much, what have the other ones cost? And they had no ordinance asking for any payments at all from what I understand.

So, if I understand this letter from Mr. Hylla every year the farm land is out of circulation the city has to pay roughly $6,000. Is that correct?

You are correct no ordinance in the past so the City NEVER received a dime for the concerts beyond reimbursement for security costs.

From the letter it looks like the decision was made to officially take the farm land out of circulation to host future concerts.

Great point 8:54 and regardless how much hotel/motel revenue generated the funds should be utilized to promote long-term economic development NOT rob Peter to pay Paul in fictitious tourism for a short-term fix to an incompetent governing body.

The government of Peru and its attitude remind one of the shaving ad of a few years back when the fellow nicks himself and you hear "Ouch! I got ya" or of Kid Gavilans famous Bolo Punch which always landed six inches below the belt.

Kristy, how many ways do you think you will have to spell incompetent governing body before people catch on. Don't you realize that Harl and gang are saying this would last forever if Kristy and Lois would shut up. Damm women!
Good Job Ladies!

THE CITY HAD BETTER WAKE UP AND FIND A NEW FARM MANAGER AND NOT BELIEVE THE CRAP THEY ARE BEING TOLD ABOUT CROP HIGHTH. THERE IS A PAYOFF SOMEWHERE WITH 8.00 CORN AND 17.00 BEANS. $200.00 RENT PER ACRE IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY EVEN IN A DROUGHTH. FARMERS NOW DAYS HAVE CROP INSURANCE AND OTHER METHODS TO COVER EXPENSES THAT WERE NOT AVAILABLE YEARS AGO. WAKE UP CITY OFFICIALS!

All the Big Ben Alarm Clocks produced in the history of Westclox combined would not be loud enough to wake up Peru's Officials. WAKE UP CITIZENS AND VOTE! LETS START PERU OFF ON A UPWARD CLIMB FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR YOUTH.

2:27 Well said! Now the only question that remains is: who is running?!

2:52 This sounds like a rerun from 3 years ago. And several months ago. You build them up and then work the campaign. You got a new Mayor and new clerk, new aldermen, new super. And now your not happy? The old slap around group is gone. Who do you blame now?

Anonymous said...

4:37 I think they are blaming the idiots who are doing it now? Just an observation.

You ever marry someone who you were in love with, then find out they were cheating on you? You just stick with them or dump them like a news tribune subscription?

Anon 5:16 Has something about putting a gorilla in sheep's clothing and what do you have?

You still have a gorilla!

Anon 2:52, I'm assuming when you refer to the "old slap around group" being gone, that you're not being disrespectful to the two deceased council members. Although you do have a right to your opinion.

5:16 Good thought. The majority of the previous group that was constantly blasted by this blog are off the council. Now we have a new group that we helped put in office. And why is everyone upset?

Anonymous said...

I can't speak for others but I myself am upset because there seems to be a great deal of dissension between the aldermen themselves. And, because of this dissension they don't seem to accomplish or resolve issues easily (if at all). Different opinions and ideas are great but intimidation and mockery are not. At times it's like watching children at play and at other times it's embarrassing to visitors at council meetings.

5:16 here. I dont get your point? It seems like you are saying because a constituency was upset with some members of government, and then campaigned and voted for a new government they can't be upset with the new government? Why the hell not? The fact they campaigned for them is irrelevant. Like I said, you marry someone because you love them and believe in them, but if they start cheating you dump them. By your reasoning, if you ever get married again, you are stuck with your new spouse because you dumped your first one.

This kind of high school election mentality always blows me away. "You cant complain because you wanted Buffy as class president, so you are stuck with her. You complained so much about Biff and now see what you have. I thought you and Buffy were Bffs. Did you see what they are serving it the cafeteria for lunch? gawd..."

This is a decent sized city we are talking about, these stupid mistakes and waste can't just keep happening because it is the way it has always been, or someone is a war hero, or because everybody has the same last name. You shine enough light on this excuse for a government and it will get fixed. Eventually.
