As a citizen of the City of Peru and a long term taxpayer I would expect the Mayor to provide a list of the positives and negatives of the annexation of property and expansion of the sewer system west. Would this include both north and south of U.S. 6? Peru already has enough property for him to have demolished in his 2d term that we don't need more to speculate on. It is way past time for Peru government to start doing the smart things instead of continuing on in its present path.
There is a parcel of farmland along Wenzel Road and Chartres St. that someday going to be open for development. Why isn't Peru considering this before annexing West on US6?
Why does he need more property? Peru cannot take care of what they now have. Time to speak up against this guy! Just more expense and taxes to the people of PERU. People should have the right to vote and decide, not just a few when it comes to things like this.
I believe the land you are referring to at Wenzel and Chartres is already in a Tif district, a La Salle TIF. I have talked to the landowner who had a previous agreement with Peru that expired and evidently the city was not interested and La Salle was.
Wouldn't this land be more valuable for future growth than the west end of Peru? Could you define by who you are referring to as the city? This is only one of the recent acquisitions by LaSalle since Jeff Groves election as Mayor to land lock Perus' future growth and prepare LaSalles'. In recent colparisions LaSalle is on the upside and Peru is on the downside i.e. the updating of the downtowns, city family events, electrical rates, recreational facilities (swimming pool), sales tax rates etc. Peru is offering very little to its citizens, local business' and coporations as far as incentives and activities whereas LaSalle is continuously providing a open helping hand to create progress.
Does this have anything to do with the requirement of having to report all unannexed property within City limits to the IRS? I am curious if this reporting has occurred over the years? I believe there are parcels of land in the middle of town that are/were not annexed into Peru as of recent.
Since the tou rest wants to be annexed he has to have every parcel between here and there annexed as well. If not everyone wants to then tou rest will remain unincorporated. This isn't because he wants to, it's because tou rest wants to
It was mentioned on another blog title about summer city employees pulling weeds around basins. How can we see who the summer employees are? Maybe the clerks office will post this information. To compare summer hirees to people in public office/city employees. ????????? ???? Hiring process?????
10:14 you want to chase around the summer employees to check weeds. What a twisted hobby you have. IF you are really interested have the guts to go to the office and request a roster. If you really want to make a difference get out of your truck and pull a few weeds.
Sorry, I drive a small economy car, not a truck. Maybe one of the city trucks could be used. Kinda like going to the grocery store on the clock at the taxpayers expense.

The city as defined as Mayor Scott Harl and the city councii within the last 4 years.

I might do that if I saw the help actually pulling weeds, I might help but to initiate the task,no. We have hired help to be doing that.
