Mendota, Tonica and Marsailles are assisting also. Tankers are loading water at several hydrants on Rte 6 west of Rte 251.
Test Inc. the city's water service has offices in that building and it seems that the fire department was concerned about chemicals and while I was there we were first moved from 5th to 6th and then up to 7th. There is a voluntary evacuation from Pulaski east and then up north 9th Street because of the heavy smoke. The community room at Peru city hall is open for those who wish to leave their homes or those who live closer to the fire and have been asked to leave their homes.
I just heard several loud explosions about 10 minutes ago assuming it is at the fire scene and not fireworks.

Lois, has it engulfed the entire building or just the Test area?

Did anybody know if Tom Riordan was at the fire?

Why does it matter if Tom Riordan was at that fire? Is that your priority with a fire of this magnitude?

I don't know how many aldermen were at the scene and assisting in other ways but I do know that Tony Ferrari was there at the scene initially and then opened the community room for the displaced residents. Thanks Tony!

This terrible fire has nothing to do with whether or not the person mentioned above where there or not! Whoever asked if Tom was there, what's your point? This fire has nothing to do with the preceding issues within the fire department that have arisen to be noted to the city council and the taxpayers. Actually, I give alot of credit to anyone within any organization to come forward with issues and concerns. It seems that their are people who have spoken up anonymously. This should be a red flag that maybe things need to be looked into. To signal out Tom is wrong. If you are that person who wrote if Tom was there, I ask you, r u a peru firemen and how long have you been on department? Lastly, were you yourself fighting the fire?? To all that gave their service and are still giving their service, thank you.

Finally, its good to read that some people are sticking up for Tom. It seemed to me that several hundred people were witnessing the fire in the few hour of it. I'm wondering why Tom was being mentioned as to if he were there or not, really? What does that have to do with anything??????
