Westclox provided so much history in our community. Nearly every family relied on Westclox for a job. It was the source of public transportation. For generations Westclox was the economic engine that drove our county. It got us out of the coal mines and put food on the tables. Everything changes over time but the importance of Westclox and the history of our area is very relevant and has a lesson. I do understand why the fire was such a outrage, it was because of the common bloodlines that Westclox represented. At the time of Westclox everybody had a common goal and worked together for the benefit of others, it may be different today.

Has anyone heard if the EPA has completed their investigation and if any asbestos was found and if and when clean will begin? It seems as though information on this fire has died down. I think the citizens of Peru are entitled to know what was in that heavy smoked that blanked the area for days. And, does anyone understand this issue with boats or a boat? Where were they stored and were they all destroyed? I've heard conflicting stories on this issue. I suppose we'll once again never know the full story.

Has anyone read the "PART TIME ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION" posted on the city web-site? I wonder who came up with those requests. They appear to be quite detailed and quite demanding.
