This press conference was enlightening to see and hear. Our fire chief jeff king made reference that he was out of town when the fire started. Chief king also stated that our asst. Fire chief Jim Duncan was in command at that time. However, the video and audio didn't show asst. Chiefs duncans comments like chief king said. Would love to be able to hear and see asst. Fire chiefs comments since he was in command for the first most important 12 hours of the fire, due to fire chief kings availability to be there. Asst. Fire chief Duncan deserves credit where credit is due. A Hugh shout out to ALL police and fire departments involved in this tragedy of a fire at a peru's historical landmark. Let's see the whole video of press conference.

I thought the same thing 11:52. What I also wondered was why the police chief started the press conference and spoke for almost half the time. Is he in charge of the fire department as well as the police department?

I meant the Peru fire chief jeff king was unavailable the fiirst twelve plus hours of the fire not available. Sorry bout that. It doesn't really matter who went first, etc...but, let's see number three , asst. Fire chief Duncans view of events in the first 12 hours of fire. Being it was new years eve with being statistically a higher volume of fires throughout the country, why wasn't our Fire chief King available? It seems to me that a responsible person in that position would make sure they were available due to the inevitable of a possibly low turnout of volunteer firemen showing up for ANY call due to celebrating the new year. I would be posting this in regards to any fire. Yes, it's understood that any person needs vacations, etc..., but, why be out of town for 4-5 days over the new years holiday. Not the first time. And we taxpayers are paying salary for a fire chief on the city of peru's dime. Fire chief jeff king also gets paid from liberty fire for each
Fire call he makes. Some may say double dipping. Why ??? Isn't his job as fire chief to be at calls anyway? Gets paid again of $32 per call to be there at a call. We taxpayers, need to get involved and see where our monies is going. Someone please clarify this, does the city pay volunteer firemen for calls made or do they get paid through liberty fire? ?? confused! Is liberty only a fundraising group?? Anyway, would like to see the whole press conference from tues regarding events of fire. Thank you!!

You do have a point. I have noticed in all the newspaper articles our police chief is commenting on fire related matters. And in thinking about that , one is to wonder. Police and fire are separate departments. I do understand they work together exclusively and should. It's SOP (standard operating procedure). Again, u bring up a good point.
