Check this map with the earlier chart I posted of the lists of roads to be repaired. With the map you have a visual as to how often we are repairing one block which is the most expensive way to do road repair. As the signs on the highway road repair signs say YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK.

I would like to know why the 1 block from Prospect to Pulaski on 6th Street will cost us, 26, 563.86.
But the 1 block from Fulton to Peoria is only 15,632.56.
Actually the block next to the 6th street scheduled repair has so many holes in it you could break a leg walking on it and the catch basin is about to sink and it is not scheduled for repair but the next block is and believe it is not bad except at the intersection with Pulaski.
Explanation please.
I just can't believe our aldermen think this is the "RIGHT" way to improve the roadways in Peru!!! It's obviously more expensive going about it block by block rather than taking it road by road. I had hoped the Infrastructure Committee would have tried to enforce their road by road idea.
Do you think there is "someone" on the blocks that are "important". You know politics has strange bedfellows. So is it friends, relatives or what because there are way to many single blocks scheduled to be repaired and please remember according to the key this is our new tax money. Those marked in yellow are MFT funds. Those marked in brown are indicated by "committee".
Here's my take on the block by block road improvements. As I was walking/driving the streets of the 2nd ward looking for roads that I think need repairs, I noticed that while one block needs repairs badly, the next contiguous block was not in bad shape. For example, West Street from 5th to 7th is in pretty bad shape, but from 7th on up to SPR, the road isn't bad. I can't imagine how bad 5th to 7th would get if we waited for the rest of West Street to need repairs. So then if we decided to do West Street from 5th to SPR to make it one long stretch of road now, I feel it would be a waste of money because most of that road doesn't need repairs. As far as it being "someone" on the block that is "important", yes, I feel that the hospital (for the ambulances), fire dept and police dept are important and need a good stretch of road there for them to take care of the citizens of Peru. As far as the rest of the roads that were chosen for the 2nd Ward, I can honestly say I don't know anybody on those roads except for 9th Street, and that's because my kids used to deliver newspapers on that block many years ago. But please feel free to drive over there and check out how bad that road is.

I CAN'T BELIEVE 7TH ST. IS NOT ON THE REPAIR LIST, IT IS SO HEAVLEY TRAFFICED, AND IN SUCH BAD SHAPE, NEAR FERRARIS HOUSE. WHAT HAPPENED TONY?
I asked the same question. Did you notice that all the roads being done in the First Ward are little traveled roads?
Thanks Tony/Mike you have done a good job with the resources. Its a good start.
