Still pushing for a fire-based EMS system huh? Guess you have you mind made up Ald. Perez, huh? Anything to waste tax payer money.

12:57 didn't we read that listening to options from other services and hear from other community fire EMS departments was all part of this process?
I could be wrong but hasn't there only been like one presentation so far? And what was the cost of that service to the city, has that been shared yet? Just not sure what you mean by ald. Perez " still " pushing?? As a city of Peru tax payer, and voter I sure would hope someone like Perez or any other city official would stop researching something that we have no answers to yet.
I along with others want to hear what other services and community leaders have to say about this. I work in Princeton and they have a fire EMS department. Just from brief discussions it's a better situation for their city. You must just be affiliated with the Peru ambulance service and afraid for your job. Understandable but city safety must come first.

Princeton Fire Department kicks but! they even volunteer for community events along with a kick but firefighter training program that is basically free for new firefighters. Princeton Fire/Ambulance is not ran by an outside, or private service, it is ran by the city fire department at a very low cost to the Princeton tax payers. average response time for ambulance and fire is under 3 minutes. Peru Fire and Ambulance I hear is 4-7 min for ambulance and 3-7 min for fire. You may learn something over there if you have open minds and listen.

Thank you 1:04 PM, I am looking forward to your presentation as we all need to be looking forward to new and sometimes different ways of conducting business. I have heard good things about your department for a long time and know that you have been doing the fire dept/ems service for a many years. I remember being stuck in traffic on Rte 80 in a winter snowstorm many years ago and the Princeton fire department was out lending any assistance needed.

Excellent professional presentation by Fire Chief Petraikis on the how and why Princeton successfully runs a multi level fire dept. based EMS within their department. Thank you for taking the time to come to our city.

Ok...when is Ald Perez going to let PVAS present...or another EMS only service like AMT in Peoria...or Kurtz in New Lenox....Why is it only presentations to pad his desire to have a FD based EMS agency?

I'm surprised you were not aware that PVAS was supposed to do their presentation before Princeton on Jan. 3 but cancelled because of the Westclox fire.
They have been rescheduled for next week January 24. PVAS director and several members have always attended all the other presentations. Beside most of us know just about everything we need to because we see PVAS in action and know members and get reports to the city council each month. Should be no surprises.

Conflict of interest ! Alderman Perez, it seems to me that if u want to be an alderman that represents the taxpayers of Peru, then be that. It's so evident that ur hands are in too many pots! It's a no brainer, leave peru's ambulance service as is! Curious, would u reap any benefit if Peru made a switch in regards to it's ambulance service that we now have? Also, conflict of interest with u being a volunteer paid per call firemen in my opinion. Next thing that will come before the taxpayers will be a new firehouse/police station. Gotta keep up with that new city hall! I guess Peru is A Wealthy Community. Let's ask for another tax hike! What a joke!!!

Next thing Peru is going to spend it's time and money on is , is "just looking into a new firehouse/police station." question, can't anybody see this coming? Where would those ambulances sit? Space? Leave the ambulance service as is. Really, think, who is pushing for this possible change? Alderman Rodney Perez/fireman, fire Chief Jeff King(who was requesting $120,000 year salary, which is a total JOKE, if full time fire chief's position arose). Like the old saying. "getting your ducks in a row.". Leave our ambulance service as is!!!! "don't fix what's not broken."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!$$$$$$$$$$$.

You have very strong feelings and I would like to know whether you are a PVAS employee or a Peru Fireman, please let us know so that we know where you are coming from.
Ald. Perez is doing this investigation as a member of the Safety committee and to finally put this issue to rest and move on. BTW the Peru Police chief and the Peru Fire Chief probably both would like new quarters but unless someone donates the money, it won't be done for years to come.
But you are not correct when you say "don't fix what's not broke". There are issues that need to be resolved with PVAS. I'm sure you will be at the meeting this coming Tuesday to answer questions for us nonbelievers.

Lois they are right. Have you looked inside the fire station? It looks pretty full. I dont know where they would put the ambulances, they would have to build something to house them. Maybe they can go back inside the police garage again? But wait there are so many patrol cars in there the ambulances would not fit in there either. @ 10:01 of course he would reap some more benefits. More calls he could respond to equals more money in his pocket.
