Another show and tell. Rod, there is a very good service out of Midland,Texas. Can we get them on the schedule also. I vacation there once a year, and they took care of me when I overdosed on B.S. This sense of your importance is a little bizzare. A little like the fireworks or CSO attack or the PIT Bull support. Keep going we all like entertainment, living outside of Peru its slap-stick foot stomping humor. Take down those signs Leader of the Valley and replace them with Illinois Valley's Best Circus act.

Hey! what was the name of that ambulance service in Midland Texas? I believe it is Kurtz Ambulance Service. They may be the same service that will be picking you up due to the heart palpitations you are having due to being scared. You should ask Rod, maybe he would hire you to be the clown that rides in on the lead jackass (donkey) I enjoy this entertainment, watching the old snakes surface and get all worked up is entertainment every time I open the paper. You people over there should be glad you have someone on the council that isn't afraid to rattle that snake cage and choke those serpents when they try and bite.
I do have a question.... Can anyone that was at that last meeting with PVAS tell me how many people that had no personal attachment to pvas or peru fire were at that meeting? I hear it was a pact meeting but may have only been like 4-5 people with no affiliations. Is this true?

I think Kurtz really does have services in Texas.Alderman Perez has stated that the city will listen to " ANY " service that would like to give a presentation, so I don't understand your point. If PVAS is such a great thing for the city of Peru then PVAS shouldn't be so worked up over the city listening to other services. I think those meetings they are having with other services are not costing the tax payers anything or wasting time as some say because I don't believe those aldermen are being paid for those special meetings. Like the one poster says- I like this entertainment also. I hate reading the news week after week during the old administration because everyone did what Baker wanted. I'm always for the underdog.

ANON 12:59

There were like five at that meeting with no ties to PVAS or PFD. the one lady that was quoted in paper saying she did not want taxes going up: her husband works for pvas. and the other guy which I believe sat across from her that voiced his issue with it was her father. There was only a couple people that had no affiliation that spoke up, those were comments supporting looking at new avenues.

And ALD. Perez employed by the Peru Fire Department has no horses in this race? Looks like the deck is stacked against PVAS.

The aldermans horse in the race is serving the city of Peru. All expenditures over 20,000 have to go out for bid according to state statute. (look it up on the internet) This was explained over and over at the presentation PVAS gave. The problem was that people were so agitated that they either did not listen or did not want to hear this information.

ALL! The magic word from now on in the City of Peru should be and will be ALL! The magic word is not to be for today and not tomorrow. ALL is for everyday! All is not to be used as a pick and choose term but as a term to be used for what it means - ALL! ALL means that every business doing $20,000 with the city is going to have to be bid. Since PVAS is going to a competitive bid because $4,000.00 per month totals over $20,000.00 per year, every business which has over $20,000 per year in revenue from the city, even if it is $1666.67 per month every month of the year will have to bid as does PVAS have to. This would include city attorney, eng. consultant ( which is a profession which tradionally does not bid) contractors bid, computer services including web sites, hardware supplies, printing services, all automotive purchases over $20,000.00 per year which includes purchases and labor services per dealer and also gas and oil. How many bids does the city accept for road salt? This list can go on and on. Maybe the next time a city official or more than one city official decides to open Pandoras Box they will realize that all decisions are not easily etched in stone. At times it is best to seek out and listen to experience instead of continuously shooting ones self in the foot.

2:40 I would have to bet you voted for Baker? Reason i state that is due to your mentality. The law is to be followed. I do believe this is why Test, pvas, chamlin, etc are all on the bidding lists.I'm sure pvas has nothing to worry about if they are the cheapest.

please please please end this witchhunt disguised as a public meeting to improve the City of Peru. How does a recall vote work?

4:05 The cheapest service would be having somebody throw the patient in the back of a used old service vehicle and hope for the best. Is that what Peru residents expect? You have quite a imagination when it comes to the law and the cheapest. Please read the law and then ask grandma if she's ok with the cheapest.

Will listen to any service? Does that include fire protection or police protection? Anon 2:20 Do you mean any service that he can get gainful employment? Is he the same Ald. that wanted to be paid to drive the fire truck and blow the horn in parades? Please tell us its not so!

A company out of New Lenox? Whats next? Maybe the city will hire Blackwater for public safety? When is that presentation ? When a friend moved to Jonestown with a nice guy called Jim, I told him good luck but don't drink the Kool-Aid. Peru beware the punch bowl is filled.

2:22 i would challenge you to contact city hall or any other city and ask if that's how it works. because it is!!! When bidding in a municipality, if the lowest bidder came in from Larry, Mo,and Curly. They would get the contract even if PVAS was higher by only a dollar. The old lady wouldn't have a say.

I heard Kurtz provides Morris with Ambulances with crews for under $50,000.00 reason being is due to the revenue Kurtz generates through transfers and billing. Can anyone verify this? Morris is bigger than Peru and hear they provide 3 ambulances and crews. Verification please?? I think Peru Ambulance is in trouble if this is the case.

I just left the last comment not yet posted but wanted to add that The city worker from Morris also told me that Kurtz is from the Joliet area but all their ambulances say Morris Fire/ Ambulance Service in big letters and Kurts is somewhere smaller on the vehicles.

Anon 8:16 please give us the entire story. What is the cost to the residents for a ride? And who stated that the new ambualnce service would also get transfers? And they paramedics or emts?

How many times did the fire protection contract with Liberty go out for bid ? Never . Seems like someone is planning some payback to get rid of PVAS . When was the last time we bid our incompetant City Attorney position or Engineering service , or even Insurance consultant services ??

1:22 I think there may be a new sherrif and deputies in town over the past year. Sounds like all the above are on the chopping block, Not just pvas.
