The blog rec'd 941 comments in the month of June. 941 comments, can you imagine the amount of interest that this blog has in Peru and its voters. Can you imagine how conversations are started from day to day in coffee clutches, telephone calls and social gatherings with a subject from the blog. Can you imagine how many people are now aware of situations today that they never would have known of without the blog. Bloggers you may have seen "The Nifty Fifty" insert at $99.00 a ad in the paper a couple of nights ago. What do you think of it in value in comparison to the "Peru Town Forum" which costs you nothing to express yourself. Thank You Lois Carroll in allowing everyone to use their First Amendment Rights. No three minute restrictions or hold your public comment until later here.
Within the past week 28th street park has had the following visitors - the president of the rec commission, a 1st ward alderman, and a public property member. All seemed totally wrapped up with playing pickle ball and communicating with the ambassador. Not one of them seemed interested in talking to any of the surrounding residents to see if there were any concerns. Neither did one of them take the time to inspect the broken playground equipment or see that the garbage cans were near overflowing or that the picnic table has still not been repaired. It seems as though the only concern regarding this neighborhood park is the ambassador and his pickle ball court.
I just wish the elected official would use this blog to their advantage. Many problems could be solved quickly and easily if they would just read the comments and listen to the citizens.
Ripley's Believed It or Not: l item can be scratched off the list of needed repairs at one of our parks. After weeks and weeks of mentioning a broken bench at 28th street park the broken piece was removed. Weeks later (7/2) the removed piece has been replaced. Thank you! It's too bad the full garbage can sitting next to the bench couldn't have been emptied at the same time.
A reliable source has informed me that 3 different visits later by city vehicle, the bench is repaired and only 1 garbage can has been emptied. It seems as though we do a drive by and if the cans aren't brimming to the top we ignore them. In this heat I'm not sure that's a good practice but that is apparently the way it is.
No management and all you get is teens riding around like the older employees. Bleck is too busy sitting at home to notice it. Too hot for him to be out.

7:56 That sounds simple enough to those of us who read the blog but apparently not so simple to our elected officials.
Does anyone see the purpose of the NIFTY FIFTY?
