How Long Will This Take to Be Corrected?

SECOND SIGN HAS Not BEEN REMOVED FROM THE LOCATION even though   MY PICTURE HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF THE BLOG. ( not sure it is not still in the yard but merely moved to the far side of his driveway. Either that or Ald. Ferrari has changed his mind and is now a Harl supporter.)

This is one of the sign violations that popped up this weekend and our sign inspector Frank Taylor was notified by email Sunday night so assuming he saw it when he came to work on Monday morning, this should not still be up on Tuesday.  This is only one of the violations he was notified of at Monday nights meeting.

I make note of this because of the big fuss Mr Taylor made at a meeting about a sign in Travis Nelsons yard and also about Mike Harts signs. So Frank it is up to you, and I will then take this picture down also.

Forgot to tell you this is right next door to Alderman Ferrari. Maybe he doesn't talk to this neighbor?

Again I believe all residents should be treated fairly and equally. This is wrong. I'll be emailing Frank right now. And I'll send a text to Nayor Harl. If this is the way it's going to be in Peru, that is sad and changes definitely need to be made.

Giradano is violating the same since he is putting signs up in BERMS of city property.

Check out the sign on Charters street next to entrance of Northlake subdivision.

He also have placed his signs in many of the vacants lots around the city without asking for permission!

What will it take to stop this violation?

Shouldn't the current "mayor" know the rules with regards to posting political signs "1 PER YARD". Shame on you Mr. Harl and I also believe the former mayor has violated this ordinance. Let's see how long it takes Mr. Taylor to enforce this ordinance. If we don't why do we take so much time establishing these ordinances if they only apply to certain citizens?

Is it true that the hydro plant approximate cost was $32,000,000 and $16,000,000 is still due. Peru is also a member of the IMEA which is making a huge investment in a coal functioning plant south of us.

Technically I wonder if someone has a yard sign and one on their vehicle if they are in violation if both signs can be seen from the roadway??? Just wondering???

NO

Thanks for the publicity! The photo of the Re-Elect signs serve as additional non paid publicity. Sherry, we get your point that your not endorsing Harl. What changes are you referencing?

Peru Town Forum said...

If the city puts too many unreasonable restrictions in the sign ordinance, they would be in violation of state law.

With all the publicity the sign ordinance has gotten for the last year, I would not think this is "smart" publicity but would think the mayor does not know where signs are being put up for him and maybe he should. But then he is and has always been a hands off mayor to all departments, so maybe he doesn't know what is taking place in his campaign either just like at most council meetings..

In the interest of fairness there are also multiple "baker" signs in several yards. The easiest thing to do is to repeal the sign ordinance. It's a joke, and obviously if the mayor or none of the alderman are going to follow it then it needs to go. Plain and simple.

Anonymous said...

No 10:54, you're absolutely wrong. Why should we waste more tax payers money repealing ordinances that the head of the city (Mayor Harl) refuses to obey? We already wasted a great deal of time and money establishing the ordinance under his (Mayor Harl's) command. And, why does Mr. Taylor not enforce these ordinances? Isn't that his job?

Anonymous said...

Why did alderman Ferrari allow this to happen in the first place since it was by his house?

Anonymous said...

well 11:40 you answered your own question. We need to repeal them because NO ONE obeys them, not even the mayor.

Anonymous said...

No 12:33. We need to make the people that we employ and pay do their jobs or replace them. Hopefully a new mayor will do so. Obviously if this mayor does not follow his own rules he isn't doing his job.

12:56 The sign ordinance is a joke anyways. You must enjoy having your first amendment right stifled. I, on the other hand, do not.

9:56. The changes I was referring to in my post earlier were enforcing code violations fairly. That is not being done now. Many people didn't like Bob Borostowski when he was the code enforcement officer, but he treated everybody equally and fairly. I wish it would have worked out with him for this year.

I texted Mayor Harl about the 2 signs in one yard. He is in Washington DC now and had no idea about it. I would think the resident also was not aware of the rule they were breaking. Mayor Harl took care of it immediately.

I have not endorsed anybody for mayor. I'm waiting for the debate on April 7 before I make my final choice.

I think you are all getting a little childish. Hes got more than me. Grow up!

1:51 PM and others. If you do not refer back to a previous post by time, no one will know what you are talking about.

Too bad our uneducated inspector was making $30 an hour and doing nothing while Boro did all of the work for $10 an hour. And he was trained!
I would've quit also!!

Call Frank Taylor is the right procedure. Let's keep him busy.

OMG 12:42 Lets call in the Nation Guard. A few weeks the signs will be gone and it will be back to where the fireworks will be held.

How about the Baker signs at West and Shooting park Rd. Take a picture of that and post it on Facebook, since now Bakes is a. Social media affianatto.

I was heading down 251 this morning and there is a fundraiser sign right at 251 and shooting park where is Taylor? I wonder if they paid their sign deposit? What's good for one is good for all. Also saw a yard at Juniper and Spruce with 4 signs in one yard for Township Democrats..2 for hocking and 2 for trustees ...maybe they get special privileges since the mayor is part of their group!

Anonymous said...

7:45 If you are referring to the sign for the Chocolate Fest for CASA, the answer is yes we did pay the sign deposit. Jill Bernal

Anonymous said...

Looks like there is a water main break at Shooting Park Road & 251. A city truck is parked right where the Reform Peru Township sign was that Frank Taylor told Travis Nelson was illegally placed. Coincidence?

Anonymous said...

1:35
i guess you need your eyes checked the sign is right behind where they are working.

Anonymous said...

1300 block of 7th St. Two Mayszak signs in the yard, right in your neighborhood, wheres the photos??? I am sure you will call her and not post this!!! You are so blinded by vengeance!

1:35 ifiber project not a water main break.

They are there for a specific purpose "fair is fair for everyone" If the city had no intention of enforcing those double signs on the previous 2 locations, why should this make any difference. There will probably be more signs cropping up. You said Frank is where? Must be ill with that new disease "signophia"

Sherry Mayszak said...

3:38. I purposely put another one of my signs in my yard to make a point. I took a picture of it and put it on my Facebook page. My point is everybody should follow the rules. Don Baker has two signs in one yard at Shooting Park Road and West Street. Scott Harl has two signs in one yard at 7th and Lincoln. I emailed Frank Taylor last night and have heard nothing back from him. I texted Scott when I first noticed his violation and he assured me it was taken care of. The resident just moved one sign closer to Alderman Ferrari's yard, but it's still in the same yard. I texted Scott again last night and have not heard back.

I am making this an issue because Travis Nelson was told to move his sign by Frank Taylor. Can Frank just pick and choose? Rules and ordinances are there for a reason, and everybody should have to follow them.

We have to figure Taylor was under direction of Harl..when it came to the sign at 251 and shooting park. When it comes to politics Harl takes direction from Biederstedt and as we know Biederstedt doesn't like anyone challenging him. I think they thought Nelson would back down to Taylor and then to the Mayor when that didn't happen it pretty much backfired and because Taylor can't find his hand from his butt we got a sign problem with no way to fix it. From what I was told a simple survey by the city and he would have moved it. Sherry I applaud you and those that stand up for what they believe...it's time Peru moves from back room deals to the actual leader of the valley.

Anonymous said...

The casa sign is on state property. do they have IDOT approval. I'd let they corner overgrow then no one would put signs there and we could complain to the governor haha

Anonymous said...

Sherry I do not agree with your action to the sign ordinance, how can anyone say they respect city ordinance when you wantingly ignore break an ordinance, not really setting an example. As for the other signs I am sure Harl did not go out and purposely put 2 signs in 1 yard. The only point you have made is that you are willing to disregard laws to make a point????

Anonymous said...

Sherry,
Thats what we like a person running for office that willingful violates the law! The city need serious candidates.

Anonymous said...

9:07 Aren't 2 candidates for mayor violating the law?

Peru Town Forum said...

9:07 AM

So it is OK with you for people to have sign violations in their yards and disobey city ordinance and not take them down even when asked to. But when Sherry puts one more in her yard of her own signs to reinforce that the city is not doing their job, it is not fine with you. Seems like you have a double standard like the city. Vote for Sherry Mayszak, the voice of the people.

Anonymous said...

9:07 Apparently you think its' okay for the current mayor and the past mayor to violate the ordinance but not alderwoman Mayszak.

Mayszak (x) Radke ()

Anonymous said...

The Mayor, Former Mayor or any other candidates posted a note that they willingful violated the law. But one candidate did? What type of decision making is that? Did Harl post he put up two signs in one yard because he was mad? No, but Mayszak did.

Anonymous said...

Can we take it upon ourselves to pull these signs in violation? If there is such a thing as "citizens arrest" I am sure this would be protected in some form or fashion.

Anonymous said...

10:47 its called theft. Read the Ottawa times and your get a nice story about somebody who had those same thoughts.

Anonymous said...

Thank you 11:39 for the info. Not saying I would personally stoop to that level, but it was food for thought. Does the ordinance state any penalties for violation? If not, there should be an update to include penalties that make it fair to all candidates.

Anonymous said...

Who cares how many signs are in a yard? I don't vote for someones sign. Have good Police,Fire, dept's and those who worry, about signs, Get A Life

Anonymous said...

It's so not about the signs. It's about treating everybody fairly!

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a few weak men in this town are afraid of women? Legal bullying?

Peru Town Forum said...

Duplicate signs per candidate remain in place over the weekend and other signs such as the one by K Mart. Can you tell me is this city or state right of way or private property of the owner of KMart?
Are they legal?
If the city is going to pass ordinances that they have no plans to enforce in an equatable manner then they should rescind the whole thing and start over.

Anonymous said...

Enough is enough. This banter is so ridiculous. Make everyone take the signs down and go door to door to sell themselves to the voters.

Anonymous said...

I'm seeing 4 x 4 signs for some committed team too small to read candidates and Harl signs on right of way all over where is the sign police. How about and Peoria and plank rd? Why even have a stupid ordinance anyways not being followed by the current officials throw them all out!!!!
