Bernabei? Of the six names included in the list of those who had lunch at Bennigans is the name Bernabei (bottom page). WHY? This dinners check was for $167.71 or if you want to take the bill by degrees $27.95/person.
Waldorf learned his lesson after his big night on the town at the 2008 IML Conference. I recall that Lois posted the reciept from Waldorf's pricey meal at Chicago Chop House for around $340 on the Peru taxpayer. For those who say the elected officials don't pay attention to this blog I point to the fact that most of them are very careful about not charging every meal to the people of Peru. Notice how they order Room Service like its their first trip to the big city. Until this blog exposed their excess expenses at this convention they would all charge every meal to the city as was the case with Waldorf at the Chop House. Lukosus and Harl apparently thought nobody would notice their fancy room upgrades. What an embarrassment these characters are.
$167.71 for a 1:13 P.M. lunch. Three of these guys recently were attending a high class, expensive, weight reduction program and when they get ahold of the city expense account they don the feedbag.
Room 2505/D2TRX Arrival date 10/19/2012 Departure date 10/21/2012 2:04P.M. ADULT/CHILD 2/2 Room Rate 256.00
Is the IML Convention city business or a family week end jaunt to Chicago on the taxpayers?
Only one meal (Thank goodness) itemized for Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Don't these people eat? Is there a draw that is taken at city hall and not shown as the registration fee of $240.00 is not shown. Do you really think that all of these people are paying for their own meals at the IML. Could some corporation/or corporations be paying for all of these meals?
11:18 Why are you only worried about Rodney? Why don't you ask who is in attendance at these dinners (i.e. the mayor, his sidekick Lukosis, Radke, etc.)?
The topic of what is ehical in regards to business practices is not a difficult decision for most to make. If I was to conclude a exremely successful negotiation/contract with someone I would feel free to offer or accept a dinner with the other party immdeiately or shortly after, BUT in no way would I arrange a dinner meeting with them when they are at a civic business convention out of town and my no-bid contract is coming up for $600,000+ or over $850,000/year . It is unethical for TEST/Chamlain to offer and it is unethical for the city officials to accept and all involved are aware of it. This is just one of the endless standing, improper grey to illegal shaded business practices which have been taking place longer than anyone can remember which proves that new blood is needed on all sides. If I was to hire a new man to join my organiztion today it would be Mike Hart and this is whom I presently will vote for on April 9th. Mike appears to have the stamina, honesty, background, intelligence and above all inexperience in politics to make up his own mind to direct himself towards the betterment of Peru.
Unfortunately Chamlin and Test are private enterprises and I cannot foia aattendance or expenses from them. It speaks to a long standing practice conducted each year at the IML convention. The only choice the people of Peru have is to elect officials who will end this practice because they have integrity. Mayor Harl did not attend this first year when he still had some principles but now he joins those who must have convinced him that this is the way to live and take advantage of all benefits you can take from the city. Many of us believed in him and to say he is a major disappointment is the best I can do.
3:34 Once again why are so concerned about Rodney? You do know don't you that there were other aldermen that went to the convention along with the mayor, treasurer, and SPW? Why don't you ask if they went to the dinners or do you already know the answer - they did?
Rodney is upsetting to the majority of people who like things the way they are, the way they know and do not want them changed. These same people are those who gain by not having status quo questioned and don't want it questioned even if it meant for the beterment of Peru. This group of unchangables has deeply seated representation within the present council. It has always been those that are considered radicals that have made changes in this country and this is the group which Rodney fits in. Rodney is proving to be the type of personality that wants to make a difference, and make it in a positive direction.
I am starting to question myself of being a supporter of Mr. Perez. Have been reviewing all these blog posts. Noted on one that two questions were asked that Mr. Perez could have answered with one of his blogs. He only answered one. The other question that Mr. Perez ignored not to answer was if the OPERATIONPROMISE program received that donation from the car club(money accidentally was put in wrong account per fire chief, if I remembered correctly). What is really the deal here? Where is money?????????? A very simple question. However, Mr. Perez hasn't responded. Makes me have doubt.
It is amazing how Rodney, as an alderman, conveniently forgets that many other people associated with the City sat in the same room with him at the Chamlin dinner on Friday night. Makes me wonder what you are truly trying to promote on this blog.
I did attend the Chamlin dinner on Friday evening. What I stated in my previous post was... I did not attend the TEST dinner on Saturday night because the conference concluded Saturday afternoon and I needed to get back to take my wife out for Sweetest Day that Saturday night.
6:39- I have a question for you- I have never been asked on this blog if I've ever attended the Chamlin Dinner; you're insinuating I've answered that question, where, and when? If I'm ever asked a question, you can be sure I'd answer it honestly. No reason to hide anything.
10:45- I appreciate that you're concerned about the Operation Prom-ise funds. Since it seems you've been following this closely you may recall my last posting where I stated Chief King and I were working this out and I would update the blog when it's resolved. I'm confident this will be resolved soon and will be sure to let you know when it is.
Not resolved yet. Wow! Wonder if that will happen after the election. Seems like OP should get donation. Simple! It's like the money is being held captive. Very weird situation here. Don't understand the hold up.
12:05 Perez Thank you for your response and integrity. Although I don't feel officials should be attending those dinners I also think some of our officials such as yourself wouldn't let that persuade you on city decision making. I was just hoping you were going to come on the blog to address those who question your integrity. Keep up the great job Rod.
Alderman Perez, you are totally avoiding what is really going on about the donation of money to Operation Promise. Saying that you and the Fire Chief are trying to resolve it. Wasn't that the same thing said 4-6(approx.) weeks ago? Like the blog said. what's the real deal? I'm surprised at your vague response. Does Mayor Harl not want OP get donation? Is fire chief king in a tight spot because he donated $600 to Harls campaign fund in Aug.2012? unbelievable! Who else out there thinks something is going on here?
1:09 PM In my opinion only it is poor judgment for any elected official or appointed official to donate money to a currently elected official seeking re election. This can come back to bite them in so many ways, why do they risk it. Probably do better at the race track. Makes it look like they are receiving something already and betting on keeping it that way.
Lois, you are 100% correct. There is only one reason for an appointee of a department to donate $600 to to a campaign fund in which that person made the appointment. Wonder if the fire chief has a sign in his yard also for Harl. Now a $600 donation to the pool fund would be another story. That would have been a good donation with no alternative motive possibly. golly gee how interesting. It does sound shady though about the operation promise money donation though. Of course my opinion!
Is the Operation Promise funds in question here tax-payers funds? If so then Alderman Perez should demand answers from the city. If they are not tax-payers funds and simply donations I could see why the alderman is working that out with the fire chief. I'm curious to know if 1:09 is that concerned about operation promise getting back those funds, or if 1:09 has some other purpose up his sleeve. I could see if the question is reguarding tax payers dollars to demand those answers but if they aren't tax dollars why would anyone other than the alderman care?
Lois, 1:44 this is the exact reason donations should not come from appointed positions, plain and simple. But no one will ever learn, because the fear of losing their position out weighs common sense. The mayor should refuse all donations and endorsements from his appointees. He too must be afraid of defeat. If everything he said in last nights paper is true he should not have to worry about being re-elected.
Actually he listed FEW accomplishments of the last 4 years, everything is what he plans to do The one thing he laid claim to is raising the cities bond rating from A- to A +. Paying down the city debt by 1/2 will be in 5 years. Future infrastructure projects will be pay as you go but how much did debt did he take on from this years? Reduced payroll by 1.2 million, I would need to see this in writing position by position. But that might explain why our city looks so poorly too. Increased industrial and retail grouth. Now who would believe this even though we acquired an Olive Garden when Jewel and KMart closed, that it was considered growth?. Served as moderator for IML and my answer to that one is who the H___ cares? Only explains how big why he is getting such a big head.
Did Harl leave out his other accomplishments such as: Raising Electric Rates which are forcing out businesses, Venture Drive, Video Recording meetings( oh! That was Rod) New Harl Signs, public comment cards. Are those mentioned anywhere?
@6:11. Harl also left out that he is a master of ceremonies. Performing wedding ceremonies, and a celebrity waiter! Now. I'd say that's some accomplishments!

I do know that Chamlin and Test both offer a dinner.
Did Rodney attend one of those dinners?
11:18 AM
Rodney Perez did not attend the dinners, as he wrote on the blog some days ago, he went home after end of the convention.
11:18 Why are you only worried about Rodney? Why don't you ask who is in attendance at these dinners (i.e. the mayor, his sidekick Lukosis, Radke, etc.)?
11:18 Rodney did not attend any of those free dinners at the convention.

Maybe Rodney should come clean, since he likes to post here he should admit that he attended Chamlin's dinner on Friday night.
Rodney is away for a few days but will be glad to answer later I am sure.

Go to the Newstribune website and visit those salaries.
I noticed that too 10:45. Makes me curious also.
12:50 PM
Ald. Perez is not available for a few days and that is why no answers have been forthcoming. They will be quite soon, patience.
According to the lunch bill Bernabei attended the conference also.
It is amazing how Rodney, as an alderman, conveniently forgets that many other people associated with the City sat in the same room with him at the Chamlin dinner on Friday night. Makes me wonder what you are truly trying to promote on this blog.
