I still have not heard any response from Joe or Mike. They read this so why not offer up a email. They took a pay raise for the next cycle. Sure they froze they pay for two years. However they just added it to the last two. They have fooled us for way to long out with them in April. I spoke with Debo and Chuck and a few of the others. They all agree to trim the fat.

, would you mind copying and pasting the e-mails with the specifics of their plan? Or perhaps, more preferably, the candidates could post the information publicly for all to see? I am interested in how big of a cut to which salaries/benefits, the projected time frame for doing so, and how much they expect to save the average taxpayer. For those that say I'm holding the independents to a higher standard than the incumbents, I am not. I am asking them to back up their promises with numbers, not ambiguity, and to do so in a way they can be accountable for the claims they are making

517 why don't you go to reformperutwp.com and ask them all your questions. Or you can meet them this Sat at 1pm at Peru city hall. They didn't give me what the saleries should be, but they told me they should be at what the average state pay is for each elected job. Sounds fair to me.

You are 5:17 how can you ask them when the current officials operate the way I have read they do... Mike is in top 6% of townships in pay, family is hired to clean the 800 sq feet of office space and continued abuse of pier diems...we all know from reading the toi site elected officials salaries are set. I say cut the medical reimbursements and benefits to all employees, send part time employee home and you have a quick 100k in savings just off the top. The establishment is on its heels. Fun to watch the dems posting on here asking for public comment when they can't even make a public appearance.

Mike needs to start helping some of the locals in need. How can he sleep at night with so many people that could use help from the general assistance. I also wonder why they don't use torma for insurance? It would save a lot of money.

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:17 When was the last time that you know of that a candidate kept his promises once he was elected?
Maybe it would be best to over load Mother Earth with a lot of politicians so when they die hell will be so full that everyone else will go straight to heaven.

Thank you Lois for rescuing my comment from the other comment box.

At least 10:21 sees where I'm going with this. I don't want a private e-mail about it. The words "publicly" and "accountable" should have made that clear. The current officials responded months ago in the Newstribune. The people responsible for the article and now want those jobs should be able to articulate which salaries and benefits will be cut and by how much, how long they expect implementation to take, and what the savings amounts to for the average taxpayer. If they have not figured it out beyond significantly and in the near future by now, I am not voting to pay them the same wages for 4 years while they develop an actual plan.

7:53, Regarding your last statement, here's the short version so follow along. I do not believe that 43% of the population disagrees with with 46% on the exact same set of principles. The (R)'s, (D)'s, and (I)'s should be done away with on ballots at every level. This would prevent voters from mindlessly filling in circles next to every (R) or (D) on the page. Elected officials were not put in that position for the benefit of their party leaders. Yet, this is how we are represented in Springfield and Washington. Do not lump me in with that herd.

Any cut they new people implement will be more than what we have now.

812 the incumbents have never made a promise. They just rip off the taxpayers. Face it, That's a fact. There is no check and balance within the current administration. The independents the way I see it, have been the only check and balance the current officials have faced in the entire history of the Peru Township. If you think the incumbents are doing a great job that's your choice. However, I'm tired of the wasteful spending at every level of government. The only way we can help the current situation is to vote all the incumbents out, to implement any change. The incumbents will stay silient on this issue. If the new candidates do not fulfill there promise, that 7:52 said, then vote them out in the next election.

not the incumbents or the challengers we just gota rid the township

Anonymous said...

I HAve to say its the township govt- i will vote for the incumbents- just my opinion- and 514- all the candidates- no matter what party- are gona tell you what they wanna hear- i wont name the candidate-but one i have heard many negative things about.

Would the blog establish a area in which comments and phases for losing politicians of the next election can become prepared.
Such as: " The only thing worse than a defeated politician is a broke politician."

"Where is everybody"?

"Is the phone out of order"?

"Isn't this the first time we've been out together by ourselves in four years"?

"How did I lose everybody I talk to voted for me"?

I can't believe they did not see us they always come over to say hello or wave.

Those fellows were my strongest backers and look at them already hanging onto the guy who defeated me. I can't believe it.

Didn't anybody drop off some free tickets to the concert?

$40k+benefits for full time seems reasonable. Hard to beliebe its tops for the state.

Anonymous said...

4:27 are you for real. There is no need to have a full time employee at Peru Township! Only 6.3 miles of road. The elected officials are not full time and if they think they are they are nuts. A few part timers can keep up on the 6.3 miles of road. There would be a large savings just in health and retirement. And yes 40k + benefits is too much.

Anonymous said...

Get rid of Joe and mike . They are the reason the township is in such bad shape.

Anonymous said...

It makes me wonder if Joe is a Union electrician why he scabs on them?

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:27 Really! Reasonable! Get Real! $40k+ benefits, Doesn't this give you any realization how lucrative the Peru Twp oiffice holders have it?
There is over $40k/year pay for MH"s job who isn't on that job anywhere near 20 hours per week and RV's township clerk position pays him $24k/year and he hasn't been in the office for 2 hours/week average over a four year period. Local politicians have nicknamed themselves Governor because they get all the benes' of a Governor but don't get furloughed out to make license plates.

3:03 pm thanks junior I'm sure you will enjoy the extra time off from the township to work hard for the county!!! This one is over you can put it in the books Studer/Debo will win... look at last presidential race.

Anonymous said...

Pretty sure he doesnt 551

Anonymous said...

debo doesnt have a chance

Anonymous said...

Debo 's nomination split the party wide open the night of his nomination. There was another highly qualified candidate who everyone knew had a lifetime of experience in the field for the state and had supervisory background as well. This individual came in with his paperwork already submitted within the proper time frame. What was ever determined about Debo's paperwork?

Anonymous said...

gota find someone to run against doug some year

Anonymous said...

I had a great experince talking with Travis. He was walking in our neighborhood this weekend. I was really impressed with his plan. I was also suprised with the paper work he produced as evidence of WASTfUL spending. I was blown away by the money spent in gas and repairs for the little mileage. As a former maintence person I'm shocked on what they spend at Peru auto electric and MJ auto works. Something just doesn't seem to add up. Than to top it off I see he hires everything done. Why even have a Road commissioner if he can't lift a shovel. On top of that with all the people in need in our area they turn so many away.

When Joe worked on the wind mills he was union. He was just a gopher after day one but he drove around the farm all day bringing guys equipment.

Anonymous said...

I dont care whos union or not. They all are bad!

Anonymous said...

From wht i heard debo did not have proper paperwork

Once again the township blasted running around in 3 trucks for 6 miles of road. Why in the world can Joe do his job. He drives around with a pick-up truck with no salt spreader and hires employees to plow a snow. We might as well hire all the plowing out to a contractor. I'm sure it would cost us less than having Joe and the boys rack up overtime.

Anonymous said...

I agree with 4:09 what's important is the story of Mike and Joe taking advantage of us.

Anonymous said...

No ot and they use 2 trucks. Good try tho

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know where you find the agenda and minutes to Peru Township Meeting...I thought Illinois Open Meetings Act required them to be posted online or in a public location? Let me guess they dont do that either...

Peru Town Forum said...

I would guess they would have to at least post meeting times on the front door visible at any time. Some townships maintain a web site but of course we do not.

Anonymous said...

Two trucks for 6 miles of road. So 3 miles Peru truck. VOTE THEM OUT NOW PLEASE!!

Anonymous said...

also some of the most heavily traffic road- kept nicely and maintained thank you

Anonymous said...

Except if you live on north Pulaski...because you obliviously don't 1:01 my alderman have both tried to get this fixed by the township and know will help us!! Time for new blood Debo is getting my vote.

Thanks
Driving amount the potholes on N Pulaski

For 1200 a month in gas the roads should like like the yellow brick road..what a joke I'm a public works employee and I can tell you 6 miles twice a day would never burn up 1200 a month in gas.

Anonymous said...

the city takes care of north pualski!

Anonymous said...

706 if you knew the facts- you would know thats not much to add up too

Anonymous said...

704 the city took over n pulaski- the township had it years ago- now the city takes care of it
