Code Enforcement Officer - CodeEnforcementJobAnnouncement.pdf
I happened to come across this doing some google searches. Since our city is contemplating setting up demolition budgets per ward, I wondered who will be making these decisions. Does anyone know if our building inspector has the qualifications they expect of the code enforcement officer in Sterling IL. I guess since we failed to hire another code enforcement officer after Boro left because the city felt that one assistant in the department was enough.

I don't understand which, if any, aldermen have enough background information or knowledge to plan a demolition budget for their ward. We have a building inspector. Why don't the aldermen report any neglected property to him and let him do his job (the one we pay him to do)?

Taylor doesn't have the qualifications to clean the toilets at Menards. That's why he was told his hours were being cut and he quit. Just like the car lot given to him that he ran into the ground. I wouldn't trust him to deliver news papers!
How a worthless person like Taylor got a job that pays $30 an hour with a city vehicle and city credit card is beyond me!
Makes me wonder why the city wants to destruct so much and construct so little. A few months ago, Ald. Perez brought up the subject of providing the city with the tools to keep rental properties in good condition by requiring all landlords to be responsible. That seems to have died and instead of trying to work with the rental owners to update and repair their property, we will make money available to demolish property. It appears that no one working for the city has the qualifications to make that determination. While we on the topic of trying to demolish, lets think about legal fees which might lead to court cases. Former Mayor Baker took down much of what was historic in the city and Mayor Harl is following right in his footprints.
Taylor can't enforce a simple sign ordinance! You tell me that if I build something Taylor comes to inspect it? I think not! I along with several citizens of Peru have told Taylor to stay off my property. He is an idiot! If he comes on my property he will be arrested, and he has been told that. I along with dozens of others have told him this! He knows nothing of the cities ordinances or how to treat people. He should be standing on a stool selling ice cream cones at twisty freeze. Maybe he can handle that!
He threatens citizens and tries to act tough but if you threaten back he runs and cries and you never see him again!
Nobody is dumb enough to take that position and work as Taylors assistant! Taylor would just have a scape goat to blame everything on. Nobody is gonna build anything in this town because noone wants to deal with Taylor !
7:32 Are you serious? Is what you say the truth? If so, has this been reported to the mayor and what was his response?
May question to taylor is (WHEN IS HE GOING TO ENFORCE THE HANDY CAP LETTER THAT WAS SENT TO A WEST END PERU BUSINESS , BACK IN January ) a real city inspector would be on top of this .
Absolutely right! It is about time somebody started to talk about this serious issue. We are getting way to much riff raff in town and we need to force them out with laws to prevent ugly houses. How do these underclass people even think they can own property in OUR TOWN! And we need to prevent out of towners from encouraging the riff raff by offering low rent! It also needs to be a law that you can only cut your grass between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Wednesday or Thursday. I hate seeing people work in their yard, we need to force them to hire a service that will do this during certain hours so we don’t have to see or hear it. This is our town and we need to take it back from the undesirable poor riff raff. And don’t even get me going on cars! My god, I’m tired of seeing those pickup trucks full of the working class people getting in my way all the time. We need to take back our streets by outlawing ugly cars and work trucks!
When is the Marquette Apartment pool going to be secured by a total-surround fence of substance and is the project to be completed or filled in ? This has been a hazard for two years.
@10:07
These topics have been brought to Harls attention and went nowhere. Harl never returns calls. Besides as posted last fall by a citizen who spoke up at a council meeting against Harl , Harl had Taylor come to his house and harass him with bogus citations that went nowhere. And like the rest of us he told Taylor to get off his property and Taylor said he was sent there by the mayor. Nothing went further with the bogus citations.
Taylor was banned from the Marquette apartment complex because of being an idiot. The property management told him to never return or be prosecuted .
There are dozens of pools in this town that have no fence around them. Maybe when a child dies from drowning Taylor will do his job or finally be replaced with someone with knowledge and a backbone.
Don't we have an ordinance regarding RV's and Boats in driveways??? If so, this also isn't enforced! Drive through the Baker Lake subdivision. One house for sure has a big boat in driveway all the time(26th or 24th street (?). Another boat at a house and a rv at another. And, someone said two of these homeowners are city employees. What is the ordinance?? Ordinances are there to be followed. Needless to say, get some chickens and that should be ok! Who cares about a chicken ordinance. You have to buy them six at a time when on sale at rural king to get the sale price.
The more I read this blog and the more I learn by attending meetings I am convinced we need MIKE HART as our new leader.
HART (x)
MAYSZAK (x)
@chicken blogger, you are 100% correct. If you had chickens(alot of them), and someone knocked on your door in regards to your chickens, just slam it in their face. If the code enforcer doesn't enforce every code, then they would be in the wrong for harassing you about your chickens! Maybe someone who lives on the west side of Marquette St. between 28th and 30th street can get some chickens. Interesting to see what would happen. If you really think about this, it's true.
How many chickens and roosters are allowed per city ordinance? I live in a residential area. Thank You whoever answers my question.
I now appoint you as AC(ambassador of chickens), now we have a Ambassador of Deer Spotting(ADS)(self-appointed), and a new position with you AC. Please take your newly appointed position seriously. Maybe you AC AND ADS can organize clubs. Have monthly meetings at the city hall. Fun fun for all.
we will all need to raise chickens if Hurl keeps taxing us to death.
Does the city have yearly evaluations on job performance for city employees?? If a person is not doing their job then they should be fired. Plain and simple. Too many hard working people who would love to have a job, and would take their job seriously. Get rid of dead weight.
12:40 Why are you specifying the west side of Marquette Road between 28th and 30th street? What does that particular location have to do with your post? Or should I say who are you referring to?
You have the Marquette apartment pool, then boats and RV's the comes that area between 28th and 30th- just seemed like a good idea. Wonder if the people who live in that area would have a problem with the noise. I say, if they do, don't worry, you will get use to it. And there will be fresh eggs to purchase. Is there a problem with this. The chicken club and deerspotting club will stick together and support one anothers hobby. Any joiners??
People that have RV's should be required to pay a special tax if they want to park it in the City. They have more money than most people do so it must be redistributed for the public good. Vote Harl! Vote for Fair Money Distribution!
Who would do the yearly evaluations ? The HR department? She's a big a waste as Taylor!!
Most jobs require yearly evaluations but if they were done in Peru, wouldn't that be the job of the department head? I bet it is never done.
12:40 I think on the east side of Marquette would be more interesting, especially if I could get the chickens to the residents before the election. Maybe they could lay their eggs in the pickle ball court and the spw could pick them everyday.
Time to get the H's out of Peru!
According to my alderman you can put up any type of temporary fencing for as long as you wish.
Read the ordinance for pools. Has to be a permanent fence with self closing hinges and at least 4 1/2 feet tall.
11:57 I agree with you on what the ordinance reads, but I am just telling you what the alderman told me.
Ok we get it. Mr.Taylor told your bud Rodney"no" and your mad about it. We have laws in place that enable a property owner the ability to make improvements. To seize someone's property is illegal.
What about above ground pools? I see them without fences.
Were talking about a snow fence? Please don't waste taxpayer funds on a snow fence discussion. Getting a tad vindictive?
11:32 Who said anything about a snow fence, I was referring to the fence around the pool at the apartments. Getting a tad confused aren't you?
