Gorging public tax dollars - LaSalle News Tribune - LaSalle, IL

Gorging public tax dollars - LaSalle News Tribune - LaSalle, IL

This is the N.T. Article all about Peru Township and the cost of maintaining it. Outrageous  waste of taxpayer dollars and we have all been guilty of closing our eyes to the display of arrogance by those elected to the township with benefits that most of only dream about.

This is dated 6/18/2012 and was reposted on one of the social sites.

Naperville township takes a 50% cut...Peru township has lost touch with what matters most

Anonymous said...

my road in maintained very well- so for that reason alone i will vote dem.

Anonymous said...

i know the township did a pay freeze has anyone asked them on taking a cut

Anonymous said...

8:47 You people make no sense at all or maybe I'm missing something.
Since when does a democrat plow or remove snow better than a republican or heaven forbid "an independent". Party affiliation should have nothing AT ALL with the way you vote for someone. VOTE FOR THE ONE YOU THINK WILL BEST PERFORM THE JOB YOU ARE PAYING THEM TO DO! Maybe that's why our governments are in such a sad state of affairs - because of the way people vote!

Anonymous said...

this is the best you can do in your support of the "reformers" keep recycling old biased news articles?

Anonymous said...

Is the new crew of candidates willing to take a 50% pay cut? The answer is no, my vote will stay with the current township members.

i missed it in the News Trib when it was originally posted and was glad to have the opportunity to read it. Also sure others who read this blog did not know about it.

To vote for the incumbents when you realize the twp. is literally stealing your money and that of all Peru Twp taxpayers is your choice. This is the year that we have choices which in itself is a wonderful opportunity to accept the challenge to see if we can do better. We always complain when no one steps forth to say I will run and try to make this better. The rest is up to us.

Anonymous said...

It's foolish to think that any specific "party" is going to get us out of this mess. Every form of government in the state of Illinois is too big and is consuming and wasting our money at an alarming rate. Please use common sense when voting on April 9th. I will not vote for any incumbent on April 9th, it is obvious they are leeches on the system and in no way care about the financial situation of the people they are stealing from, us, the taxpayers.

Anonymous said...

Lois your bias is so obvious; why don't you get to the truth instead of getting all your "untruths" from the "performers" I mean "reformers". is it your goal until the election to pull biased news articles from the "reformers" blog?

I got my information from the N.T., not any blog. I read most of the series articles last year but evidently missed this one. Believe what you will.

I have reached out to independents and I love the response I got you should to. I love the idea of donating portion of salaries to pads and local organizations....can't believe we have people willing to do this!

Anonymous said...

Inspired, I too reached out to the independent candidates and was also pleased. They promised to do away with salaries and benefits and work only as needed for $8.50/hr. And I just love the idea that they promised to sell the plows and hire the homeless to shovel snow off our roads.

The point being, it's all hearsay until they sit down with a Newstrib reporter or post it on their site.

Anonymous said...

I'm not concerned with roads and as far as I can see the change isn't need there. It's needed here:

Additionally, the township left its “general assistance” fund for the indigent with a hefty ending balance of just under $125,000 by the end of the fiscal year. That equates to roughly 54 times the amount it paid to the poor in one year.

Hocking is responsible for this fund. The trustees are responsible for his actions by vote!

By appearance Joe is an easy target and I'm sad to see my party deflecting the blame to him...

Anonymous said...

The reformers are not going to cut or change anythng. And i have seen nothing but support for the incumbents

Anonymous said...

12:56
isn't that great - i hear mr. hocking doesn't have to levy general assistance because of that balance. i wish i was paying taxes in peru township instead of lasalle township!

Anonymous said...

I have heard of very little support for any of the incumbents running for any of the political offices.
Alderman Sherry Mayszak is the only incumbent that has increased her support basis that is in a present election. She has, by example, oriented voters to the fact that she is willing to represent them not herself.

Anonymous said...

Even if the challengers did not change one thing, I would vote the current band of entitlement butt heads out and spread the wealth. Time for someone else to get my money, since you won't give it to the poor, let me at least change so I can spread it around and give them a chance.

If they don't do anything, then vote them out next time and see if we can find some poor unemployed people to run so they can get Joes welfare check.

Let me write your response for you and save you the time. I will spell and use caps tho.

"Im gonna vote fer experience. Republicans gonna make it worse. My 50 foot a road gets taken good care of so I am gonna keep the crooks in there. Don't blame the crooks for taking the money, the government laid it out there for them."

I would hate to debate you geniuses.

11:01 Please get your facts right. The independents facts are the truth! Reformperutwp.com gives facts. Can you disprove anything they have on it? The newspaper printed the facts as well. Sorry the robbers like you and the current crew can't dispute the facts. Everyone Vote to Reformperutwp! The township needs leaders, vote for the Independants and Republicans.

Anonymous said...

Yah 1101. The news trib never prints anything fake lol

Anonymous said...

Saw the democrat party signs today...committed team = entitlement means more golf and less work

Anonymous said...

I heard the township dems have a new campaign
theme. They are a committed team! to rob the all the Peru voters! How stupid can they get? 7th & Peoria street. wOw

Anonymous said...

Easy with the name calling

Anonymous said...

I had the pleasure of speaking to a few of the people who brought this waste to light. I was really impressed with the fact that Mr. Nelson is willing to donate a portion of his salary back to the Pads shelter. I find it shameful thy the township doesn't do more for the people in need.

Anonymous said...

If they Democrats are committed. They all are to blame for the mismanagement. Make Mike and Joe do their jobs.

Anonymous said...

5:20
there are too many to dispute; if people choose to listen to people who have no clue as to what they are talking about and get the n.t. rag to print their garbage - that is their choice.

Anonymous said...

They presented the facts. So it's pretty easy to figure out your one of the committed crew.

Anonymous said...

just an informed voter who doesn't believe everything i read and hear.

Anonymous said...

i agree with 852 nt is probably the most unreliable paper in illinois-

Anonymous said...

wastefull spending in political terms is the same as sayin robbing the taxpayers. Callin the nt a rag is name calling bs.

Anonymous said...

Please tell me what Mike and Joe do for me? What programs have they implemented? I see Joe paid himself salary plus a bonus to wire the shop. Why does he need paid twice if e is salary? He also never went out for bid. I hear the local electricians are pretty up set he took their work and paid himself.

Anonymous said...

Let me guess Joe got a Verbal bid :)

Anonymous said...

that was 12 years ago lol 1158 stop with the lies

Anonymous said...

i had to see how bad the township goes if new ppl are elected- lord help us

Anonymous said...

they do more than you know- thats why this blog doesnt have a clue whats going on

Anonymous said...

What and how much salary are these guys going to eliminate if elected? This new breed of responsible elected office seekers? I have not heard any amounts only a constant critical review of the current office seekers. I don't want to hear the bs that its illegal to change the salary. Its just a ploy to take the tax money and give to those who are running for office to make a buck.

Anonymous said...

Lois,

Can you still have a write-in for any office including those without a candidate in the township? I think it would be worthwhile for you to run a write-in campaign for the office of Township clerk. You have the ability to put together a web site, take minutes and let the public understand what is going on in our township. And you would be paid about $30,000 a year. You have no political party affiliations and ideal for the job. Why not?

Anonymous said...

talk to bob vickrey- hear he is running debos campaign

Anonymous said...

Tonight I had a great conversation with Travis Nelson he stopped at our house. I thought his idea to help the Pads shelter was good. I also called the Better Governament association. They are very helpful I recommend everyone check out their website. They also have a hotline.

Anonymous said...

Anon3:39 you say Bob Vickrey is running Debo's campaign. Why are the Republicans always the Democrats best friend? Joe by a landslide!

Anonymous said...

I also heard that about bob and matt

Anonymous said...

I was greeted at the store by Eddie Mitchell and I like his ideas for a better township I can not wait to see what they present Saturday at the Meet and Greet!!! Thanks for putting yourselves out there to help our community.

Anonymous said...

its gona be the same ole same ole- we have a plan- were not telling it until after the election and nothing will happen.

Anonymous said...

I had a great time at the meet and greet today. It was nice to see party lines crossed. It was refreshing seeing republicans and Independs working for a great cause.

Anonymous said...

I learned nothing at the meet and greet. Just more politicians at their finest

Anonymous said...

I learned joe jr makes $8000 a year and boy will he be surprised

Anonymous said...

Said in the records his take is less than 2500 a year

Anonymous said...

FOIA It and post it, please!

Anonymous said...

I think it's time the alderman look into taking over North Pulaski street. The township doesn't want to fix it.

Anonymous said...

cause its not the townships- it was theres now its the citys

Anonymous said...

Time to get another FOIA, the current crew can not even show it to the city, They asked for it back at a city council meeting. No contract paper, then it's the townships mess.

Anonymous said...

7:36 AM your right but that was for just 3 months of spraying weeds foia posted on here he has to make at least 8k I would say

Anonymous said...

Lois,

A quick call to the county "roads" department confirms that a portion of north pulaksi is township responsibility. Several people in town indicate that the road commissioner of the township believes it's Peru's responsibility but they never took it over since the township would lose mileage. The city is maintaining it because the township wont. Who is going to fix those damaged roads?

If you check city minutes Mr. Schwikert stated "north pulaski is the responsibility of township in perpetuity"

Anonymous said...

citys responsibility

Anonymous said...

Lets see a contract 10:16 if there is one. FOIA is the only way we will get to see it.

Anonymous said...

Doesnt matter to me- i saw vickrey and debo the other night- vickrey is a caner- anything linked to home will not have my vote.

Anonymous said...

i assume you mean linked to him 1059 and yes i agree he is a cancer

Anonymous said...

IV poll watcher says:

I have sampled 25 random people and its going to be close for township:

Road commissioner

Joe sr. 12 50%
Matt 12 50%
Undecided 1

Supervisor
Mike 6. 24%
Travis 16 65%
Undecided 3. 12%

Trustees
Doug 13
T wm 4
Jack 6
Barkey 8
Chuck 16
Eddie 20
Mary 13
Art 16
Undecided 4

I sampled almost half democrats and half republicans could be best race in county besides mayor race I will be posting those also

Anonymous said...

debo hanging with vickrey will cost himself alotta of votes- being repub hurts in peru- as even though lasalle county stayed went repub- peru went dem.

Anonymous said...

Vickery has been at Doug Biederstedt's a lot in the last few weeks! What's up with that. Who's sellin who out! Demo clown ring leader and Vickery a team! What's next. Clown ring leader doin all the Thinking and talking for the Dems with Vickery support?

Anonymous said...

vickreys days are numbered0 thank you god- so he is prolly wishing his friend doug a good bye.

Anonymous said...

Debo does not have a campaign manager. Vickery is NOT Debo's campaign manager.
As far as Debo being with Vickery at a restaurant, wasn't him, might have been Vickery's son. Around the same age, build, height. It wasn't Debo.

Anonymous said...

nope it was vickrey.

Anonymous said...

I Agree- it would be hard to mistake vickrey for son lol-

Anonymous said...

I was not saying that Matt Debo was with Vickery's son, I was saying that Bob Vickery was possibly with his OWN son. LOL!
