Is a Political Billboard Sign Really a Sign

The huge political sign put up by the Baker Sign Committee is located at 36th and Peoria.  We all know that billboards are bigger than the 4 x 4 limit established by Peru ordinance for political signage. Is there an exception for billboards? I have read the ordinance and I don't believe so.
Will Frank Taylor, Don Bakers neighbor now tell him to take it down or sent him a letter asking him to remove it?

You cannot regulate free political speech. The cities sign ordinance violates the second ammendment and we should all be fighting against these over steps of our local government.

it violates the first amendment, not the second

10:50 am,
You, like so many others on this blog wouldn't know the difference between the first and second amendment.
The city's sign ordinance does not infringe upon my "right to bear arms". Get a clue!

The bottom line is this administration is full of morons!
And Taylor is a tool!!

10:50That was my point and it was done on purpose. If they wanted my gun we'd be in an oproar but my speech has become maybe not so important. From your response it does infringe on my rights.

the ordinance regulates temporary signs - not perminant billboards.

4x4 signage limit? Lucky for Alderman Perez he's not up for reelection this time. If cant get his face on billboards, in the paper, voice on the radio, or pictures on facebook what would he do? Ive never seen an alderman that makes so many bad descions, want to be in the limelight so much. Does anybody really take this guy serious? This guy is worse than our current leadership in DC.

Narcissim is a disease.

What are you going to do for attention when your ousted from city politics?

You have got to go to the doctor immediately 2:01, there is a test that can detect early onset of Alzeimers disease. Social media is what it is. Who volunteers to drive a shopping bus?ON A SATURDAY? Who volunteers at several charity events? Who promotes and executes a family program such as OP, voluntarily(yes, with help of many other great volunteers and departments), geared towards teenagers(alcohol/drugs)? Who has driven fire trucks in parades and in convoys into town to celebrate a sporting event, voluntarily? Who promoted a family area on waterstreet for the July 4th celebration? Etc... All of this is done voluntarily by one person. Alderman Perez's service to his community is to be commended not insulted. Especially by those who do very little or nothing in their community. Lastly, I actually didn't vote in the last election for Alderman Perez. It is refreshing to see an alderman work for the people of the community and who is honest and forthcoming.

@2:31. Evidently you like the blog business because you are on here.

If I had the money I would pay for a huge billboard($800-$1,000) a month and take a picture of Alderman Perez and have a bold letter statement that reads "thank you" for your dedication to your community, to be put on that billboard. @2:10- if you were deserving of the dedication, time and efforts that you have given to your community, I would take a picture of you also and pay for
A billboard. Need not say anymore 2:10. What have you done lately? Don't be jealous of the good people in your city, embrace them.

Maybe you can buy some lottery tickets at that deli downtown Peru. And if you win big, use those winnings for that billboard. Don't forget you have to pay taxes on winnings and the deli business owner also gets a percentage. Sometimes big winners and the owner of the business where winning ticket is purchased gets to have their picture taken and it's put in the paper. How fun would that be? It's a win win situation for everybody.

Thanks Mrs. Perez for the information.

Go get them MIKE HART!! Let's get a bunch of BIG SIGNS put up around the area and lots of little ones. We need to get rid of this administration!!

AldermanPerez also drove the city bus and asked for volunteers to clean up along roadways last year. I can remember it was very hot and he was working harder than anyone else. Maybe he could help me out by filling in some of the blanks that I can't recall.
Rod and Sherry are the two aldermen who do volunteer their time for the type of activities that are for the Bettermeant of Peru.

If Don Baker wants to put up a billboard with his sign on it I don't see any problems unless the sign is blocking the view of traffic. In a municipal election I do find it offensive to start involving party affiliations.
I do disagree with a candidate having numerous signs made up and distributed all over town by city employees patting him self on the back when others can only diplay signs within a certain time frame.

I really like the large billboard sign supporting Don Baker.
What is needed today is a sign large enough for those people that were shortsighted 4 yrs ago and today they need to open their eyes to see what the election for Harl in the past WAS A DISASTER & A MISTAKE.
"VOTE FOR PROGRESS IN PERU" for for Don Baker.

I agree 7:17 no need for it to say anything but what it says..Don Baker may be what Peru needs.

I cannot believe the current mayor was outsmarted by Mayor Baker on the billboard idea. Its not like the current mayor does not have the money. It is big and bold and a savvy political move.

where is harl's campaign manager? making his own signs? heaven help us if either one of those 2 get in. the city will certainly be in worst shape than it already is and we know how bad it is right now.

Anonymous said...

Who is Harls campaign manager this time? Weberski was manager last time. I will not forget that!

Anonymous said...

How about campaign signs on roofs of houses? I think this is a great idea, put a spotlight on it. No different than a lite billboard. Maybe one of the houses on Marquette road next to the tennis court(meant to say pickleball court), could put a sign up for their candidate. Upon the roof. I would love to see this.

JL will probably attach a banner to the back of his jet and fly around Peru; since HE has such great interest in the airport and ANY candidate who supports it's wasteful spending!!

The Hurl sign on N.Peoria St. And midtown rd. Is on city right of way

Anonymous said...

Anon 3:39 Call Frankie. He'll tell Harl to move it somewhere between now and 3013 or watch closely Harl will probably have Frankie and the two Gary's moving it.

You can paint your house or even drive your car around town painted with your campaign sign. Its America....some candidates rely on bigger signs and painted cars. Educated residents vote for the one with the experience, educated, knowlegeable candidate. Usually the one that paints his house or his car is the one that will dissapoint you with their service.

3:39 isn't anon, that is Mr. Weirdon!!!LOL

Anonymous said...

Hurl has a sign by liberty restaurant on city right away maybe Taylor will move that one...he continues to do whatever he wants but those that oppose him will be punished...Mike hart needs a sign there right next to mayors

How is Baker looking physicaly?

Anonymous said...

What is the difference how Don looks physically? If your voting for him for his body, don't. He hasn't shown any interest in your interests shown by your question.
Mentally he is acute with the experiences of being one of the outstanding businessmen and politicians of our community.
As for any further I,ll leave it to him.

I'm starting to see Baker signs around town. Does anyone know who I can call to get one?

baker did some good things for peru, he also created some of the problems we have today. if he really cared for peru he would have worked with harl on issues instead of having his tribe work against him. baker can't be the hero he blows smoke about and if you believe it all then he truely is a good politician because your hearing what you wanna hear. baker has had his time and harl couldn't grasp it so it's time we make the change again, if you can handle the truth about things it's time for hart so when you vote your choice's are song and dance or the facts you decide

Harl is a JOKE! Baker is TOO OLD! My vote ends up going to HART!
