Why does it appear that throughout this video Mrs. Grabowski and Mr. Hartman are not only the only 2 speaking but that they continue to consult one another?

Looks like your typical small town committee meeting. Nothing looks unusual. Why don't those in the crowd identify themselves prior to being critical of the committee?

why is it that they seem to talk in circles ? wonder if the people who live their went out and played loud musice ( the same as the pickle ball sounds )if they would get a ticket ? just to prove a point ?

This meeting is evidence that Peru as most other cities cannot be governed with a good old boy attitude. Citizens today realize that the government is supposed to be working for them and if this is not the case they have several avenues of positive adjustment to approach.
To take away something which the tax paying citizen has already acquired is a invitation for them to utilize many of their citizenship rights. As this Board is going to find out.
The alderman who expounded upon his
knowledge and corrected others about Roberts Rules of Order should realize that he is in a official position and should not be making statements of which he is not knowledgeable. Voters having confidence and reliability in their representatives are two very important attributes and Jill a member of the LaSalle County Board and Sherry a member of the Peru City Council by their conduct have achieved this respect. Their ability to stand on their own two feet and not be used as a rug in which everyone else is wiping their shoes on is a characteristic which many others should use as a role model. It is easier to be one of the boys but recently all the positive talk is about a few of the girls. Good job Ladies!
If the general feeling is that this pickle ball fiasco only involves a few and the city officials want so badly to back the Rec Bd why doesn't the city relocate these people to a agreeable situation and waiver their city taxes for a number of years for their inconvenience.

The rest will be put on, as no one has time to just sit down and spend the hours it takes to get it all done. Be patient.

WHAT IS THE IDIOTIC COMMENT THAT THE 28TH STREET PARK WAS THE BEST LOCATION FOR THE ELDERLY? WHY SHOULD THAT MATTER? IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT TO A PARK OTHER THAN 28TH STREET YOUR PROBABLY NOT ABLE TO PLAY PICKLE BALL!! THESE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD ARE ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE STUPID AND ARROGANT PEOPLE RUNNING PERU. MORONS!!!!!!!

Had to laugh at the Freudian slip on the title. The Red Board. Bunch of Bolsheviks discussing taking over communal property for good of all peoples. The rights of few will be crushed by the many.

Their symbol should be the Star and Pickle.

Boy, Mrs. G must be really nervous about something. Her foot was shaking like crazy. Is this conversation beneath your time maam since the results have alredy been predetermined? Also, noticed crossed arms meaning "something to hide, protective positions."
Bad acting folks.

Should we have players sign in to play on the courts? Would love to see who is really using it.

6:28 That comment about 28th St.Park being selected because of the elderly was a smoke screen to the real reason the court was chosen....and that is because the Ambassador wanted it there. Plain and simple, and the fact that his wife is a board member pushed his idea right through. Too bad we all don't have the right last name and the connections to go along with it.

9:24 You hit the nail on the head with your comment about this decision being predetermined. The president looked at Ray to make the motion, so this was all planned before the meeting even began. There was no discussion between board members as to the pros and cons of this court being too close to neighboring homes, or to the noise the game makes or to the horrible decision they made back on a cold day in January when they knew no one would be thinking about the fate of a tennis court at 28th St. Park. And yet again not one word was asked about what they could do to make this more tolerable. I cannot for the life of me believe the arrogance that was displayed by these board members.

Listen carefully to Alderman Radtke explain that Robert's Rules of Order do not apply to Mrs. G because she has nothing to gain. I believe she has already gained something...and that is a personal pickle ball court for her husband. Please Alderman Radtke think before you speak at these meetings. She has a huge conflict of interest when it comes to this subject. Her husband is the ambassador that came to the board with this idea. When I listen to this video I really cannot believe what went on at this meeting and the way President Hartman talked to the residents that were present. Shame on him, he should have better manners, and if he cannot handle controversy in a more professional manner then someone else needs to take control of those meetings. Mayor Harl please do something, do not just sit back and let this happen in your city. These are your people treating citizens like they have no rights what so ever. This reflects poorly on you and the city.

Believe me the mayor knows as he was present at a meeting in August. Read the minutes of 8/14/12 and note that the Mayor was in attendance and said nothing.
My husband and I were there also and I noticed that Mrs.G. did not include my comment in her minutes. When the discussion of noise came up, Mr Zborowski commented that he hears noise at his house like airplanes flying overhead and helicopters to the hospital. I reminded him that we all hear those sounds. I then addressed Mrs. G. and told her that she and no one else in the room knew the noise of pickle ball like she and her husband because they had spent time in The Villages in Florida where they spent time with pickleball playing friends and frequently played on those courts. This was not something new to her and because she knew and went along with this selfish project, she should not have kept this her own little secret.

Here's a possible solution to the pickleball noise complaints: Make an audio tape for one half hour of playing time and play it at the same sound level at every alderman/woman home and the mayor's home. Then wait and see what happens.

11:40 You could not, because it would violate the noise ordinance and Illinois Pollution Control Board statutes.

I believe if you did it in front of the affected residences on the street it also would violate the ordinance. You would need to walk around back and do it.

Generating the noise in a public park somehow magically makes it legal in the opinion of the Police Chief. I guess no matter HOW loud a noise is in a park it is OK according to Peru. Also, they magically absolve it from the PCB standards. I still do not understand it and would love an explanation.

The president of the rec board and a board member both stated that they would not want that noise in their back yards. We do have a tape of the noise and have played it for them. The aldermen and mayor don't seem to care one way or another. Probably because it doesn't directly (or in any way) affect them and their lives. Sad but true.
