This is a Video of a Council Meeting and Venture Drive, Few Weeks Ago

Listen to the tone of the Mayors voice and that of the "status quo" aldermen. The is the meeting in which the Dairy Queen manager tried to present the petition.
This was audio taped and it took a lot of people including me to get this up and running. I am very much an amateur at these you tube uploads.  Thank you to all that helped.

Nice job getting this on the blog, Lois. It shows how Harl sounded like a 4 year old who didn't get his way. "this is done and it won't be discussed again and not at the public works meeting on Monday". Screw the Venture Drive business owners.

Is that really our mayor talking that way to his fellow council men and to a local business owner? I can't believe that any city official, let alone our mayor, would speak publicly in such a defiant manner.

He did not know the tape was going, hardly anyway did. A tape recorder can very easily be hidden out of view.

ALL BOW TO HARL ! HE'S THE LEADER OF THE VALLEY !

One thing I notice is how poorly spoken the current administration comes across. I see it often in the blog as well, there is little debate or factual defense of the city/committee positions. Maybe that's what the majority wants in their leaders around here.

The council meetings are only a legal show of what has already been decided behind closed doors.

Who is the corporation in the North End of Peru which was recently not granted permission to expand and why? There is not to have been any financial cost to the city at all but the Mayor and asst. building inspector would not give approval.

Anon 10:25 Very good question? Why with the amount of money Peru has recently spent for the enlargement of Eksas Corporation and the hiring of MCS promotional agency would the Mayor and the asst. building inspector not grant approval for a expansion when it would not cost the city any money?
Many of the recent business decisions made by this administration appear to made made with a complete lack of needed knowledge and vision for the future.

Harl has to go! Please alderman Perez RUN FOR MAYOR!! Peru cannot survive another 4 years of "THE REVEREND GODFATHER" HARL.

9:58 slight typo in your comment. That should read illegal show of what has already been decided.

Many of the legal action taken by citizens against their city government revolves around circumventing the open meetings act. When decisions are made and discussions occur outside the meeting, it is a violation.

Indicators would be submission of complex ordinance at the meeting where it is obvious some of the representatives were excluded , passing without debate and in repetitive blocs, limiting citizen comments and questions until the issue has become law, reports of meetings at locations outside the appropriate venues, emails and phone conversations between members, violations in posting agendas and restricting citizen FOIA access, uneven application of FOIA rules depending on nature, source, and timing of the requests. A significant documented pattern of such actions would draw the most attention from the states attorney and attorney general. They are not generally bloggers.

10:07. If FOIA Officer Bartley doesn't provide FOIA info within 5 business days, take it to the state. I'm sure Mr. B understands the $2500 - $5,000 fine for each FOIA request that he does not respond PROPERLY to. Little P.S., emails between city officials regarding your topic need to be added to FOIA request and must be provided by the officer. If you do not recieve adequate informtion from Bartley, file a request for review with the Atty General PAC (Public Access Counselor)bureau. call 1-877-299-3642 for details. List EVERYTHING out on your FOIA. If you think there is more, file another FOIA. If you still believe you are not getting all the data, call the state. Enough complaints will raise an eyebrow.

More non-sense from 7:45 along with more attempts to smear the name of the current city office holders. Not one bit of evidence shows that the Peru Mayor has limited citizen input or discussion or FOIA.

Intersection working very well. so much for those civilian traffic studies. It goes to show that most people will sign anything to get away from persitant pain in the butt individuals that pursue publicity at any cost. Be careful next time the flavor of the week wants to have you sign your name. The intersection works well....end of game.

It works? There is usually a parade of cars going through the parking lots in order to NOT go on Peoria St.and in order to be able to make the left turn or else that space between the pylons enables smaller cars or truck to easily make the left turn. Unless you are one of the business owners, you don't know how it is working. I personally don't see it working as anticipated by the Mayor and Chamlin.

My opinion of council meetings at this time and especially since the mayor has adopted a rather arrogant and domineering tone of voice, is that you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. He has offended so many people that hardly anyone will wish to speak up with the possibility of being cut off or told that their comment is inappropriate. He has forgotten that he works for us, we don't work for him and he has a bad attitude these days.

You say that intersection works? Maybe in your opinion it does but at what cost to the city? Does anyone know how much all those signs and street markings cost us taxpayers?

4:12. Just sit facing the intersection in the first fed parking lot for thirty minutes near lunch time. The west merge Will be the site of many an accident. The Goodwill turn around gets used quite frequently.

The most important question to ask is "how are the business owners doing that have been affected by the change".

Strong hunch you are a city official as there is no 7:45 that you are using as a reference. Accuracy has not been a trademark for which the city officials of Peru have been known for since Mayor Baker and City Clerk Judy are no longer there to lead them.
