Peru Recreation Board 10/9/12 Part 3

Why don't the Rec board put on their own concert and keep all the proceeds? Why do we have to give so much to Noonan.
The discussion about concerts for a cause seemed inappropriate as what authority do they have to enter into any contract associated with the city as they are not elected officials. If you noticed there was very little discussion among the members of the board.
I remember very clearly that Jim Grabowski told me one time about 3 years ago, that this board only took care of hiring employees, like someone to handle the park programs and at that time the employees associated with the Peru Swimming Pool. Two aldermen sat on the board also because there was a Recreation Committee in the aldermanic sector also. I don't know what happened except that the Mayor last year decided to bundle committees and there were no longer any aldermen on that board but the Pubic Property Committee was to give oversight to them. The Mayor has been notorious in not interfering with any of the committees and when you have groups of people who are not capable of doing the right thing, problem will develop. The Mayor and aldermen of the first have known all the problems and all the issues since the beginning and they should all be fired for putting Peru in this ugly situation.
Perfect solution....Move the pickleball courts to the gun range and move the gun range to the pickleball area. Lets hope the deer won't be disturbed by the pickleball games.
How many of the present seven members of this board have a longevity of five years or more. Isn't the board to reduce itself to five per ordinance and when is this to take place. After a reduction to five members if anyone is still remaining with five years of service or more they would be bumped off the board automatically by a new volunteer. Ordinances such as this are created to establish fresh ideas into the system and to prevent the thought of committee ownership.
3:08 That might be the way the ordinance reads but that's not how it's translated by those in charge. They say that a member can stay on the committee until they themselves decide to leave. I'm pretty sure that everyone on that board, with the exception of Mr. Weide, has well over 5 years of service. As a matter of fact Ms. Pyszka just retired with I believe 34 years of service and Mr. Stuart just turned in his resignation with 17 years.
The problem is that no one has ever challenged the actions of this committee in the past. Now that they have made this huge mistake they refuse to correct it. The president has even made the comment that he would not want this in his backyard. The aldermen could easily correct this situation....but will they or will they continue to support this committee no matter what.
4:13 When people have been on a committee for that many years it is easy to forget the reason you are there. Volunteerism is a wonderful thing but when this kind of arrogance is on display as is evident in the video something must be done.
The aldermen had their chance back in May to put a stop to this nonsense, and they chose to let the games begin. I hope everyone remembers in April that the residents that live near the park had absolutely no representation. Is this the kind of government we want, aldermen who will not make a decision for the good of many, but keep the anointed ones happy. Please people remember this issue and the many others that have been brought forward on this blog. Hopefully as the election draws near Lois will refresh our memories.
Accidently removed your post but your comment about lack of youth on the board is a very valid point. Removing some of the people who have been on the board for such a long time and replacing with younger people (if they are interested) is a very valid point and one Peru should seriously consider.

I have a feeling someone on that board has a connection with Noonan. Why else would that be put on the agenda for discussion?

Anon 3:08 You are not suggesting that some members of city committees have taken ownership of the committee which they are associated with are you?

The meeting photo shot reminds me of the founding fathers drawing up the United States Constitution.
Which one is Jefferson, Adams, Paine?
Is that Thomas Jefferson's wig on the Park Board President's head?
