Mr. Hurst is fine with the utility tax surcharge for the pool?, and would even think that a sales tax increase for a pool would be justified!! Is Mr. Hurst out of his mind???
Thanks to the News Tribune for asking these questions. My mind has been made clear on who will look out for the citizens throughout my ward and others.

According to the article - Mr. Hurst just gave the constituents options to the pool funding. It's good to have options. The article did not say for a fact that is what he is going for. I don't think we should jump to conclusions.

I think more work around town, there is plenty for the youth to do. No to the surcharge.

Mr. Hurst- "I feel an additional .025 percent temporary sales tax increase would be justified" in addition to, that quote. He seems to be in favor of the $5.00 utility surcharge.
A tax increase for a "want", like a pool is not fiscally responsible at all and can't see how you could say it's "good to have options" like this... and for this?? If your family household wanted a pool but was deep in debt, and the foundation of your house was leaking, would it be smart to prioritize and fix the leak? and instead of borrowing the money or charging it...Wouldn't the most fiscally responsible thing to do is pay off the debt, then save for the pool? I'm fine with the City building a pool but in this economic time within our city and us tax payers already taxed to death. We don't need another TAX!! So, fundraising and donations has to be the way to do this, just like "ALL" the other Aldermen have suggested. If it takes 20 years then it takes 20 years.

As I was about to conclude, I just got off the phone with a friend and she said that Mr. Hurst has not appeared at 2 invited forums and that in her neighborhood, he walked it a couple of weeks ago and just hung information on the door and never bothered knocking to talk with her.
Perhaps if Mr. Hurst would talk to us,and has not yet been to my door ( like others have) He may find that we don't want a tax increase as an option.

I would like to say that this blog is crap!! How is it that I sent in a post yesterday and it is NOT on here, but other posts have shown up?? Are you picking and choosing to make certain people look better and others look bad?!? If someone has something to say on our town forum, it should be HEARD!!! Also, I don't think it is right to alter any posts....such as adding words and sentences that were NOT said/written!!!!! I don't live in the 2nd ward, so as far as pointing fingers for who did not come to peoples doors to talk with them, I have yet to have ANYONE come to my door and talk with me about their candidacy! I've only had something stuck in my door! We all need to stick together to make our town wonderful to live/stay in!

The only post I did not put up yesterday was an obscene one and that I deleted.
Also I cannot alter, change or do anything to any post that comes in. I can accept or delete, nothing more.
Perhaps you did not hear them at your door or were not home, so they left their literature for you to read.
This is called the Peru Town Forum but is not controlled by the city or anyone beside me.
Calm down and think

Isn't life wonderful? You can express yourself in a courteous manner and be heard, or you can express yourself in a obscene form and I do not have to hear you.

Isn't life wonderful? You can mistakenly believe this is a public sponsored blog such as PBS TV and very politely be informed that it is conducted by a local citizen donating her own time without pay, which I may add you can do also.

Isn't life wonderful? You not only got a answer from the blogger but you also were courteously informed of some of the laws of blogging.

Isn't life in the United States of America wonderful? You not only live in a country which any law abiding citizen can run for public office you live in a country in which you can take the initiative to contact a candidate and speak to them personally.

Isn't life in the United States of America wonderful? You not only have the right to vote, you also have the freedom to vote for whom you want to represent you.

Isn't life in the United States of America wonderful? We all live under the same Constitution of America and have the same Bill of Rights. We also have the individual right of determining whether we want to listen to every ones form of expression or not.

I know nothing about an obscene post and I agree as far as deleting one. Also, yes it is possible to alter a post. It can be rewritten and posted. All I will say is there are ways. As far as getting the info or literature at my door....I WAS home anytime I got something! Never have I gotten a knock at my door or had my doorbell rang! I am not pointing fingers like some of us as to who did or didn't knock! My point was to inform anyone that was pointing fingers on who didn't knock, that there are others who haven't as well. Do NOT tell me to "calm down and think" when I am speaking my mind just like anyone else can!

Ahhh yes isn't life wonderful?! No, I already know this is not a public sponsored blog! There is no "mistake" about that! What is it that I can do?....Donate my time without pay? I do plenty of that and I enjoy it! ! I'm definitely not selfish and as far as telling me what "I can do also" is rude. You don't know anything about me or what I do. I don't break any laws and it's so funny how anyone is quick to point fingers at everyone else! I had put my thoughts in because one person was getting hammered with such harsh and negative comments, when there are others that do the same and get nothing. I think some of us should stop and think about it!
