This is a small portion of the Peru City Council Meeting from January 14, taken by a local resident. Ald. Ankiewicz turns on his Recreation Board to tell us they were forced to make their decision regarding changing the fireworks supplier and producer.

Why are residents having to video council meetings? What happened to the equipment the city purchased to do the work themselves? Are they being selective as to what they post and what they refuse to post?

It is true that the city of Peru purchased the equipment to videocast and the camera is hanging on the wall. Look at this as a symptom of how this city functions. As someone from Princeton commented recently, their meetings are posted within 2 days of the council meeting.

We have no leadership. The work to be done should be delegated from the top down and it should be checked on to make sue it is done. This does remind me of the list made by Brian Hartman President of the Recreation Board, one year ago about what would need to be done to the upkeep of our parks for the year 2012. You could look at the list today and see that almost none of the work was done and no one followed up on it. I guess no one cares down at city hall.

From this video i can see why the city doesn't post videos . i think mr a and the boys and hurl are sure screwing up this city . The next mayor will have to clean house and start all new inorder to get the city back on line where it should be .

A. is an absolute, unqualified person to be an alderman. He is an embrassment to the city of Peru.
Go get another job, if you need money under the table.

The complete video of the mtg is now on the city web site and definitely worth a watch.
You may wonder why Mayor Harl out of the clear blue says "Please be quiet back there Linda". I was sitting right next to her and have no clue as to why he did this maybe just to purposely embarrass her, maybe? Actually there were numerous men at the meeting who were talking to each and they are never called out like this. Do you think the Mayor is a little bruised by the lack of his inability to solve the pickleball issue in Lindas back yard?

After having attended numerous meetings the past 4 years I have witnessed many men holding conversations throughout the meetings. Never once have any of them been called out on the carpet as I was at Jan, 14th's meeting. In addition I have also witnessed inappropriate outbursts directed at alderwoman Mayszak at a committee meeting and the mayor just sat there and said and did nothing. I believe she may have even been told to be quiet and this pickleball issue was all her fault. These men should have been escorted out of the building yet nothing was said or done to them. Out of frustration I did say "just vote on the issue" but that does not even compare to the other outbursts witnessed in the past. It appears that the men in this administration love to target woman who are interested in government.

Kinda funny isn't it that as soon as Lois posts the video the city just happens to put theirs on the web site. Wasn't their last meeting more than a week ago, so they had plenty of time. Seems like Lois knows how to get things done. Thanks Lois!

If you watched the city video on the city web site did anyone else notice that the 2 speakers early in the meeting were heard loud and clear but when Rob Ankiewicz came to the microphone, he was muted. Didn't the Mayor notice that we could not hear him clearly and that he would not be heard on the videocast? After all that is the reason he makes speakers come to the podium so they will have a microphone.

Mi Margaritas has taken a nice step in supporting Operation Promise 2014 by pledging to donate 10% of your order totals through the end of this month. You do need to present a coupon and they are available at www.lphs.net

The audio was but out on purpose because of the lies made

Anonymous said...

Wasn't Rod commenting that Bobs son that spoke was lying about the reason he couldn't help with that program was because his wife was pregnant and couldn't help. Wasn't that program just held last year? I believe Rod said that his youngest was 3 years old last year. If I recall Rod was waiting for that to be shown on video to catch his lie. Gues editing of that video resolved that.

Did the meeting that showed the pickleball final decision and Harl declaring the right of Primae Noctis ever show up on the city web site? Or was it deemed too long?

Anonymous said...

7:18 That meeting that was deemed too long will never see the light of day.

6:17. Lol! People who are deceitful and lie, can't remember their lies and eventually tell a different story to cover up that lie with a lie. A vicious circle of a liar. All one needs to do is pay attention.

Coincidence that one of the issues most likely for lawsuit suffers from a sudden malfunction during the video recording. These guys are so blatant about flaunting their small town power it is sad.

We should all start calling the mayor and our aldermen and demand they put that video on the city web site.

I called Connecting Point today and spoke to Todd Heit (unsure of correct spelling). I asked what happened to that video of the Pickleball discussion. I was told that because of the length of the video (because of the 40 minute closed session at the beginning of the meeting) the recording became corrupt. He said Connecting Point spent a lot of time trying to recover it. I was told it will not ever been seen. I told him how disappointed I was, and he said Connecting Point has since added some programming to make sure that never happens again. I certainly hope so.

In case people don't remember, Rodney is the reason for the "checks and balances" that lead to the Rec Board choosing a new pyrotechnics company for the fireworks this year, and that is precisely why Bob hates Rodney. Why would Peru pay $20k for a fireworks show when other communities were having just as nice shows for less money? Why would Alderman Bob humiliate himself at a council meeting by voting to keep the old company against the unamimous recommendation of the Rec Board? I think some investigation should be done there. Something stinks at the deli, and it's time to get rid of it.

A little too late from Connecting Point but thank you alderwoman Mayszak for taking the time to answer your constituents. We all still wonder why that closed session was held at the beginning of a meeting. It's never happened before nor has it happened since. I also believe that session was to discuss something that was voted on immediately upon return to council chambers. Not sure but doesn't sound kosher!!

Thank you Sherry for the follow up.

Would happen to have the name of the technician at Connecting Point who worked on the file? The same Forensics company that takes the decibel measurements near the Pickleball court has expressed an interest in analyzing the sound file of the meeting, at no cost to the city of course.

Anonymous said...

Just an update for Sherry. Since it is tax time and I know you are very busy, the city original sound/video file can be requested under FOIA as a city document. No need for you to spend anymore time on the matter.
If any company can get some video or sound out of it, they can. They can also see if it was tampered with or modified in any way.

Connecting Point has had its hand in the cities pocket forever. We all know they were told to not post that video. And they were also told to take out the sound when liberty president talked on camera. That's why I refuse to shop connecting point any more. They make too much money off of the cities services already. They make hundreds of thousands off of the sale of the cities fiber optics every year. And the city maintains it.
corrupt peru!

I thought the same thing 9:14. Connecting Point is going to do what the city says. They are not fooling anyone!

Anonymous said...

10:19 Tampering with official public records is a pretty serious offense. My guess would be that if any technician at Connecting Point was instructed, or coerced, into doing that, they would be feeling a little concerned about that. Even the owner of the business would likely think twice before engaging in any manipulation of the official public record. I know they make lots of money off the city, but is it worth it to risk the devastating results from only one employee feeling nervous, or being struck by conscience, to confidentially contact an investigative reporter or someone in the Attorney Generals office?
I know the blog often seems to paint the local politicians and businesses as pretty stupid and stubborn, but tampering with the record would be a serious offense.

Didn't Concerts for a Cause purchase their last donation from Connecting Point also...

Anonymous said...

I believe Connecting Point has supplied all the donated equipment, but I have never seen the actual reported market value of the equipment donated. In particular, there was no dollar amount specified with the last donation (publiclly anyway). There was only an estimated figure with the request, and the paper said more computers were given than requested.
Curiously, I think Connecting Point was also a sponsor. Sponsor Amounts are never public either, but they must be substantial since it is the only reason the concerts can squeak out enough profit to make the donations. So the story goes...

I understand Alderman Perez is dealing with a family loss so we shouldn't ask him right now but what about the production crew that worked for him? I'm sure they would enjoy fixing the cities video tape issue. Just a thought.
