Mayor Does Not Have the White Truck

Mayor Harl does NOT have the truck under discussion. This white truck was purchased by the PFD with council approval at Chief Kings persuasion. And then it was decided that the Asst. would not get the truck, that is after it was delivered. The Asst was going to get a used suv from the police department when the Police Chief got a new suv. It seems that there is no room at the Fire Station for the infamous truck and it keeps appearing at different locations.

It's interesting that there was longer discussions over donations to clubs of $125+ at council meetings than there was over a $30,000+ pickup for the fire department. Waste of taxpayers money. Why did council approve this spending? Chief King must have done a good job in persuading the council! Wake up city council!!!!!!!!!

If you are a department head in the city of Peru, you get what you ask for.

And seldom are they questioned as to the necessity of the equipment, vehicles, storage units, etc. that they are asking for.

Don't you have a feeling that questions are going to be increasing rapidly in this last year before elections? This blog will be a very important tool in determining the the winning candidates as in the last 48 hours there has been approximately 110 comments that will reach how many people.

Not just department heads , even parttime employes drive trucks home for lunch or while cutting grass make sure you drive outa your way to stop at home to check on your wife and kids while on city time ! i've made claims of this to my alderman but they don't care . more city employes doing what they want when they want . Now at least i know where my tax money goes , down the drain !

What is the time allowed for city employees to spend on a lunch break and what procedures are utilized to record the employees work schedule for the day? He/she surely must punch in on a time clock at the start of the , when during any time of the day they leave city employment and and punch back in to resume pay when returning to work, and punch out at the end of the day.
If a employee is taking a lunch break and out in the field at the same time they most likely would have to inform supervision or call into someone at city hall to record their lunch, starting and ending times. What are the work rules for not being on the job when on the time clock? Most places of employment are immediate dismissal. In the last three years how many city employees have been dismissed for not following job rules?

You can't report a city employees for stealing time or product from the city. How many city employees have a "decorative " fire hydrant in their yard? How many trips to Hyvee are made before lunch? Noone is running the ship. You report to your mayor or alderman and nothing happens.

Really now people are creeping on others yards to look for a "decorative" fire hydrant????? Why can't we just grow the hell up!!!This has nothing to do about the topic of this blog! I feel like a certain someone is upset cause they dont have a "decorative" hydrant.. haha

Who has decorative hydrant? Curious. I find it very unusual that alderman Perez keeps moot most of the time in regard to peru's fire department management and issues. VERY STRANGE RODNEY!!! You and CHIEF KING MUST BE TIGHT. Why Rodney haven't you given us taxpayers answers to out questions since you've Bren an alderman? You are a fireman on that department!!!!!!

I hope Ald. Perez remains mute on fire department issues. How about when the Mayor starts reprimanding his department heads, Ald. Perez can take on the fire department.
No matter who is reprimanding who it should all be done in private and not in the public eye.

The mayor reprimanding the fire department? HAA HAAA HAAA. News flash....The employees control Peru's Mayor.

Trying to smooth over the fact that $30,000 was foolishly approved to purchase white truck , by it being used to transport smokehouse to big lots. Funny. Wouldn't the other command vehicle have been able to do that or a city pick up???????

Too The people that are worried about the fire hydrants. Your so right!!!! Omg I bet when the fire dept is done using a hydrant, they dig it up and take it home with them. maybe thats why the water is always rusty. You think?

Sorry that you don't believe stealing is wrong. If you look around town you will see fire hydrants in peoples yards used as decorations. Those things aren't cheap I imagine. Why should us tax payers foot the bill for peoples sticky fingers.

GO TO BLOG IN REGARDS TO : How to submit a resume to become Fire Chief. Interesting.

So what your thinking is that the hydrants are just stolen or bought brand new to put in these so called yards? That makes all kinds of sence. I'm sure that the city wouldnt question that at all. What about the hydrants that have gone bad and had to be replaced. Hold the phone! Could it be true? That makes much more sence now doesnt it! I wonder if these people with them in their yards stopped to ask TJ Lambert if they could have one when they where taken out! Maybe, Just Maybe You Dont Know What Your Talking About. I'd take that to the bank!

Who has fire hydrants as lawn ornaments? You can purchase ceramic ones and paint them. If they are old non reusable one then they should have been sold in a lottery to interested parties. Simple! Then the fire department could use proceeds from sales for steaks for one of there yearly cookouts. Sounds ideal.

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:59 PM No it does not sound ideal. The fire hydrants were bought with taxpayers money not by the fire dept and should be returned to a fund to be used for future taxpayers expenses. The proceeds from the sales of equipment should not go to the employees but should be utilized to lower taxpayer expenses. City employees today are highly paid with 90-10 medical insurance and very good pensions. There is no reason for a retiree or a family living in Peru to buy a steak for any city dept. cook out. I believe you are confusing volunteerism with good paying jobs. What is Romes return to Rome what is Caesars give to Caesar.

Anonymous said...

I guess that is ideal. Maybe it will be called the Peru City Lotto. Take it to the council. Doubt you'll get very far though. It's kind of a Dumb Idea.

IN OCTOBER 2011 THERE WERE BLOGS IN REGARDS TO THE POSSIBILITY OF CASH "HOARDING" at the fire department in Peru. Was there any investigation in regards to those allegations????????? Or was that also swept under the rug? The hydrant decorations rekindled my memory of cash issue.

We could play wheres the white truck. Like wheres waldo. If you spot it be the first to call the city clerk and get your months utilty bill free.
