It was said that there was a job vacancy posted in the News Trib. for an assistant code officer in Peru but all has been quiet in the city council chambers. We need a strong enforcement officer in that position so I hope the city has plans for such a person to be hired.
This blog is maintained for the sole purpose of allowing the people of Peru and those interested in the cities of the Illinois Valley to express their views.

Asst. Code Office Perhaps a Vacancy
Several of my readers have asked "Where is Boro?" because again nothing is getting done with the vacated, foreclosed and absentee landlord properties. I asked that question of one of the alderman this evening and it sounds like he has another job and the hours he is now available is not appealing to the city.

The qualifications that you feel are needed to fill the position of code enforcement officer were possessed by Boro. Why he was not keep on over the winter and the Building Inspectors hours reduced can only be answered with two words POOR MANAGEMENT! The Code Enforcer was paid $10/hour and the Building Inspector is paid $28.50/hour. Just because the previous administration build up the revenue production for Peru does not justify this administration to waste it.
Bring back Boro. He got the job done!
I found this online; I am curious who and why the City of Peru wrote their job description requirements the way they did?
"The Village of Wheeling is seeking a Seasonal Municipal Inspector (37.5 hours per week with some weekend hours, May through August) to perform property maintenance and municipal code enforcement. Reports to the Municipal Inspectors in the Community Development Department.
Qualified individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to understand property maintenance and zoning codes, municipal regulations and construction drawings; basic knowledge of personal computer operation, plus a valid Illinois driver’s license. Excellent communication and public relations skills also required. This position pays $10.00-$12.00 per hour depending upon experience."
12:10 Where do I find Peru's job description requirements for this job? Could you post them?
