Vote for Sherry Mayszak - Working Together for a Better Peru

Whether you live in the 1st ward, or the 2nd, the 3rd,or the 4th alderwoman Mayszak will listen to your concerns. She will take the time out of her busy day to try and find answers to your questions, solutions to your problems, or lead you to the person who can help you. She will be neither arrogant or rude, condescending or sarcastic. If you want an alderman who will not follow the leader but one who will fight for what she believes - Mayszak is the answer. She takes her role as alderwoman seriously because she knows and understands who she works for and represents - YOU THE TAXPAYER.
Linda Dzierzynski, Jill Bernal, Lois Carroll

At least she will get 3 votes. The things that you three say she isn't sounds like a description of the Sherry Mayzak I've seen and met, no thanks Moe, Larry, and Curly I'll vote Radtke

2:00 You are entitled to your opinion and to vote for whichever candidate you chose. The sad thing is you have to cut down Radke's opponent to get your point across. We didn't say anything about your candidate.

Anonymous said...

No you never said he was a good ole boy or one of Harl's yes men,did you (a man you and this blog supported for mayor last electionand look what we got). Maybe in your mind you didn't you say bad things about anyone that does not agree with you like they are the anti-christ or something. Now you want us to believe you have insight enough to tell us to vote for Mayzak for alderman and Hart for mayor with your past record on candidates anyone that takes you or this blogs recomendation on whom to vote for should get their head examined because it's empty.

I have admitted to anyone who will listen that Harl has not done a good job as mayor but you find someone that has never made a mistake when he voted and I would like to meet them. Scott Harl said when he ran for office that he would listen to the voice of the people. He did not! He broke promises he made in 2009. Have to admit Scott was a good con artist.
This time I have taken the time to meet and talk to Sherry Mayszak and Mike Hart personally. They are both very honest and responsible people with a great deal of integrity. Scott Harl used many people who no longer support him because they found out too that he has not represented the people of Peru, he has used his position for himself.

Anonymous said...

I would like to point out the Harl made a number of promises during his last campaign that he DID NOT follow thru on. Also the MAJORITY were tired of how Baker ran things and we were left to vote for Harl. So I guess you can say it wasn't a vote for Harl, it was a vote against Baker. This year we have choices. Harl, who has amounted to nothing but trouble. Baker, who is too damn old to function as a Mayor. Giordano, who is pretty much an unknown and is VERY questionable. Hart, who has a plan and can bring fresh ideas to Peru.

It's an absolute shame that politics has to get so ugly. I have a right to vote for whomever I chose as do you. Have we all at some time in our lives voted for the wrong candidate or voted for someone we thought would do a good job and been disappointed? Absolutely! I for one have made 2 mistakes but at the time I felt they were the best choice. Today I feel that alderwoman Mayszak is the best choice for her ward and that Mike Hart is the best choice for mayor.

AT LEAST..sign your name 2:00.

The uglier point is Alderman Radtke did not have to run against Sherry, he has another two years no matter what happens.

Anonymous said...

Alderwoman Mayszak has gained my respect for the fact she's not afraid to face off with others. My question to the both of these candidates is: Please name at least one thing you have publicaly opposed the mayor and other members of the council on? Please let us know where the each of you stand. have you've ever voted against an issue that the majority supported.? Or, have you've always stood with the majority?
Your answer depends on 6 votes within the 2nd ward.

Thanks
family of 6 registered voters.

Mike Hart is not on the City Council so actually he has no votes but I can assure you he has opinions. Read his adv. in tonights NT if you subscribe to the paper.

I know that Ald. Perez and Ald. Mayszak asked for the Venture (adventure) Drive to be returned to its previous pattern until a better solution could be devised. Mike Hart also opposed the present plan.
The Council and Mayor oppose discussing any further.

2:00 It is really a sad day when someone cannot voice their support for someone without being called names. I would have to assume that 2:00 is very close to Alderman Radtke to make that that type of comment. That is what may cost him the election. I am turned off by those comments as are many others.

Anonymous said...

Wow 2:56 getting a little bit testy, why can't you just be nice. Those ladies were just supporting a candidate that they feel has done a good job for the residents in her ward. They cannot even vote for Sherry. So take a deep breath and apologize.

What does Gary Hylla think Scott Harl is going to gain by having his photo in the place of Harls in today's paper?

Can someone help me out or direct me to an earlier post about Giordano and why people have not liked his past? I thought he did a great job in the WLPO debate and for me undecided it's down to Hart or Giordano and based on the backgrounds of knowledge, education, job experience I am leaning toward Giordano .....still gathering info before I vote...

Peru Town Forum said...

6:41 PM

I don't know much about Jim and when I listened to the debate he started out great and then blew it with his attempt to take over at the end. I believe that he is one of the worst offenders of placing signs wherever he thought no one would notice or complain. I personally made one complaint to the owner of property owned by a health care facility and thanks to IVCH, the sign was taken down. Seems to me that shows a lack of respect. His family was associated with Chamlin Engineering at one time. Maybe someone might know him better or have a different perspective.

Anonymous said...

First, Hylla is getting nervous. He is the treasurer and I think there is a lot someone isn't telling us, and if Harl doesn't stay he might not like answering questions! That looks bad for Hylla and Harl, what are they hiding? Second, Giordno has been known to be very aggressive in getting is way and is also known for haveing shady business practices. This is all hear say, but how many people do you have to hear it from, which makes me think something isn't right. Just because you can talk the talk, doesn't mean you can walk the walk.

Anonymous said...

As soon as Giordano said he would put baker back in office, he lost my vote. in my opinion, baker has lost it and why would anybody put an incompetant in a professional position. Giordano is nothing more than a put in place vote splitter. Bad past. Don't need anymore of that.

Anonymous said...

I originally supported Radtke, but then I saw that he brought nothing to the table other than what he was told to say. He is arrogant with no reason to be. Seems like he is a little distracted for some odd reason at council meetings. Mayszak asks questions and doesn't accept the status quo like radtke. She brings common sense to the board. Harl wants her out and he needs a follower like radtke to try to do it. Radtke didn't need to run and said he wasn't. Until someone told him to. See. He can't decide anything on his own.

Sherry Mayszak said...

3:54. I appreciate your asking those questions.

As Lois stated, I was (and still am) opposed to the Venture Drive intersection. Those businesses have lost a lot of income because of that change, and there are other alternatives, but the mayor would not consider any alternatives. That vote went 6 to 2.

Alderman Perez brought up the sign ordinance at the last council meeting, and he was told it wasn't necessary to change the ordinance because it only was a problem for a few weeks. Well the intersection at Venture Drive was only a problem for a few weeks too, so why make such a cumbersome change for only a few heavy shopping weeks each year?

I opposed Pickleball at 28th Street Park because the neighbors were complaining of the irritating noise. I was involved in several ugly Public Property committee meetings to try to have Pickleball rotated to different parks each year until it found a permanent place away from residential homes. When it went to the council for a vote, it was 6 to 2 again, with Perez voting with me.

I got a $10,000 donation for the little league baseball lights that was in tonight's paper. When I first got on the council, I received a letter requesting a field be named after Hank Koplin. I researched past dedications and worked with the family to make that happen. The field will be dedicated April 27.

I cleaned up and planted flowers at the fire station and the airport. I volunteered my time and bought many of the plants myself.

I have worked many volunteer hours for a new swimming pool, and I will continue that effort no matter if I get elected or not because I think a pool is important for a community.

I hope this answers your questions and I hope I get your 6 votes!!

Thank you,
Sherry Mayszak

I want to thank the "Band of Women" for their support.

Lois does an amazing job maintaining this blog, bringing new topics to discuss and researching how other communities do things. I know this blog has an impact, and the city is better for it because it keeps everybody on their toes.

Linda and Jill, I was just trying to do what I thought was right for you, and didn't expect anything in return because I take this alderman gig seriously and was just doing my job! When you offered to help hang my flyers, I was very thankful because with my crazy work schedule right now, I could never have gotten that done. I appreciate your help very much!

I am very glad that I got to know you three incredibly strong women, and I have become a stronger woman too.

Peru reminds me of a old fisherman who hasn't got a nibble for a half hour. He knows he has to either raise or lower the bait a litte and possibly move a few feet down or up the path but above all he wouldn't give up.
Exactly like that old fisherman come Tuesday I am going to renew my license by voting for some new ideas. I am hoping enough others feel the same way and cast their lines in the direction of Mike Hart for Mayor, Sherry Mayszak, Steve Weberski, and Mike Sapienza for aldermen. That would be a great catch for the next four years for Peru.

Anonymous said...

Definitely go for Hart for Mayor. First ward is already decided. Second has to be Sherry. She is intelligent and dedicated to the taxpayers and only serves their best interests. Wish we had more people like that running, it would make election time a whole lot easier. Third ward is up in the air. Both good guys, but I would push for Sapienza. Seems very dedicated to the best interest of Peru and sincerely wants to help out everyone. Fourth ward may unfortunately go to Weberski, but it most certainly should be Loger in office. Intelligent and driven, and we finally have an opportunity to have young blood on council. Not to mention he isn't a Harl backer like the orher two judging by how many signs he has next to baker and hart. You may say Steve isnt but he was harls campaign manager so he made a lot of the same connections. Alderman elections in all four wards are an easy choice for me.

I think no matter what you politics, there is a little warning buzzer deep down inside . I think we all like the fact there is at least some opposition on that concil, with Perez and Mayzak.
There really aren't any of the others who have a record of doing anything for the little guy. I have looked, read their statements. They, like Harl, are pretty much shallow. Does not mean they are evil. Just kinda followers in love with the little bit of status they enjoy.

Great analogy 11:05, the candidates you list deserve to be elected.

All these need to go . However some aren't up now but still are all on the same old boys club. Radtke, Lukosus, Harl, Hylla, Ankiewicz, Scweiekert, Ferrarri, Taylor, Potthoff, and Bleck.

@6:58 pm=. BINGO! When persons don't answer questions something is going on. My personal opinion is people sometimes like to stay in office in hopes that the real truths don't come out, and they have friends in office who help to keep things under the table. TRUE!! Tuesday can't come soon enough. HART FOR MAYOR!

Attn. Bloggers, and Voters of Peru who will have Mike Radtke on their Ballot.
I phoned Mr. Radtke on Thursday and left a message for him to return my call. Is he refusing to return my call because he is no longer the alderman I voted for 2 years ago? I still expect a returned call. Mr. Radtke needs to know, although I can't vote for him on Tuesday I know of at least 3 registered voters in his new boundary.

Don't waste your time on Radtke. Please.

Remember, Radtke's grandpa is the one on the Peru township board that has been enjoying the perks of a very expensive budget with little or no service to the community. Apples don't fall too far from the trees.

I triple dog dare somebody to clip bakers ad out of the paper and bring it to the forum tomorrow. I wonder if he could even read it. hahaha

Anon 12:53 I just had Alderman Radtke drop a door hanger at my house. I watched him walk up, hang it then walk away. What if I had questions? What a joke!!
Alderwoman S.Mayszak has our vote. At least she has people skills. The Alderwoman never came to my door but I'd rather have them not come than show worthless effort when they do.
Sorry you never had time for me Alderman Radtke.

I talked to Radtke a few weeks ago and he said a woman council member is as useless as a woman firefighter. We were friends up to that point but no more.

I guarantee your admiration for Sherry's opponent will bring the voters out to make sure she gets more votes than he does. The First Ward has already experienced his talents at city government and we are giving the second ward, fair warning.

Well well Lois, all I can say is we will all know the result soon.

I hope on election night you will admit that your close affiliation with Alderman Mayszak is a huge reason for her defeat in 2013.

Someday you will realize your endorsement of a candidate is sending the candidate on a path of defeat.

I take it 8:30 feels the "Band of Women" are much more known within the community, and this blog is an outreach bigger than City Hall. There is no question about it that 8:30 has a deep affiliation with the Harl Administration.
Not much of a gambler but I'd bet 8:30 has an initial beginning with G. Lets bet!
Hylla
Ankeiwitcz
Radtke
Lukoshus All must go!... Hart in= Hylla out!!!

9:05 Affiliation is not always a good predictor of success in Peru. People have been affiliated with org crime, scandal, unclaimed bags of cash, consumer fraud and been allowed to just keep running the show around here.
Maybe it's more important to be endorsed by people who stand for true transparency than it is to win. My Dad always said, its not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. I like how Mayszak plays the game.

Justin Loger said...

3:57 & 6:04(Much appreciated!) As we go into the final days of the election, I wanted to extend my gratitude to this blog and community while I pursue the position of 4th ward alderman. When I turned in my petition in December, I had told myself that even if I lost, this was an experience I wouldn't trade for the world. Walking door to door I met some very interesting(in a good way) and concerned citizens. I feel I was fortunate, I don't recall anyone saying I couldn't be an alderman or that I wouldn't be good at it. I also noticed most citizens hold two things above all else: they wanted to be treated with respect and they wanted to be taken seriously. I have always made it a priority to deliver those first and foremost. I did wind up having a few financial hiccups earlier this year, which is why so many people have noticed my lack of signage, but having that problem just forced me to knock on more doors and speak to more people face to face. Some wondered why I didn't request monetary donations for more signs. I know I have said it before, but I wanted people to support me from the ballot box, not from their checking account. Pursuing elected positions in the City of Peru is something I intend to continue to do, time is on my side. With that being said, I will always try to keep up with this blog and stay informed, if anyone has any questions or concerns or anything they are trying to figure out, I will always try my best to help out, elected or not. Thanks again everyone!

Hey Lois who appointed Mayzak, your boy Harl. vote Radtke

Peru Town Forum said...

12:56 PM

Thanks a million for your post. You really need to get the facts straight, the only thing you got right is that Harl appointed Mayszak and that is where it ended. Radtke is one of Harl's biggest supporters on the council and as close to Harl as it gets. On the other hand, I am betting that Mayor Harl regrets his appointment of Sherry. She is one honest and responsible alderman who feels her responsibility is to the taxpayers of Peru and not to Mayor Harl.

Vote (x) for Sherry Mayszak for second ward alderman, an independent and honest representative of the city of Peru.
