Congratulations to the LP tennis team for taking 1st place in the Princeton tournament this week end. Apparently tennis is alive and well in the Illinois Valley as the LP team defeated 5 other schools. It's too bad some of our area "used to be" tennis courts are sitting idle when we have this kind of talent in our area.

Just drove by 28th street park and there were 2 young men attempting to play tennis amongst the 4 pickle ball nets. What a shame that that court was transformed.

Mayor Harl states majority always wins, news flash, the majority do not like your decisions and pickleball is one them they don't like. Give the parks back to the kids and tell the special interests to build their own.

We have money to take down a broken down hotel, spend $90k for a fancy conference room, and yet we can't buy a $100k splash pad. Exactly how many minutes after the election did Harl announce that the city was paying all that money to tear down the hotel? Too damn funny. Suckers again!

Once again 10:03 you've been misinformed. It's not a conference room it's a weight training room for the police department and outside organizations to use.

The kids could stay cool and swim for two weeks by their parents taking out a second mortgage on their damaged water basements caused by citys negligence of the sewer system and vacation to Florida or Italy. Maybe families can bill the city for extra costs insued while on vacation that is over and above the new second mortgage. Like the mini vacation in Chicago over and above convention days! Just bill the city. Rockford has a waterpark. also Utica(grand. Bear lodge. Hasn't city officials spent taxpayers monies in these two towns for meetings? Thought I read it somewhere.

Geeee...pool or sewers? How about choosing which is more important this week?

Anon 10:44 You are really having a bad day. What ever gave you the idea that the blog has to reduce itself to a flavor of the week specifically for you. The blog has been open to all ideas of anyone at all times. Accept it, sewers, pools and childrens recreation can be important to some at the same time. Not all of us have tunnel vision.

That's fine that people want it all but I'm done paying more in taxes to pay for it.
