Doesn't it appear that the Illinois Department of Transportation Division, Division of Aeronautics is trying to inform the citizens and politicians of Peru of unforeseen problems of involving our local airport in a rock concert. To risk the future cooperation of this state organization for the sum of 50 cents per $58.00 ticket, a return of .0086% without a guarantee that the profits will go to a city need is ridiculous. Who came up with this .0086% return to Peru? Perhaps this state aeronautical division has had doubts of the sensibility of having this concert at the airport. The recent financing of the Mayors Conference at Olive Garden with mine and fellow taxpayers money has created a uneasy feeling for many citizens. Maybe the city is entering a new era of Payback such as free access to the best tickets available to people of importance or other means of compensation.
Anon 11:06 Do you believe that this lack of business ability at city hall had anything to do with the removing of the "Leader of the Illinois Valley" signs?
$175 for a concert ticket that supposedly hasn't gone on sale yet??? How could someone in MA get 4 tickets to sell on EBay before they're even made available??? Why would someone pay $175 for a ticket that will cost them $58 come APRIL 14th??? Something doesn't smell right here. Has the FAA even given their permission yet for this concert to be held? Does anyone know the capacity of the airport for this concert???
Years ago I was a neighbor to many of you but in need of a job I had to move away and sad to say my closest connection to Peru is the blog. Although distant in miles I still have enough fondness of Peru to caution that $2500 is too small a sum to take on the responsibilities (fiscal and liable) that you are subjecting yourself to. Why isn't the Mayor and Economic Director knocking on doors to obtain jobs rather than wasting their time on one night with Kid Rock?
Remember, tickets are non refundable. No FAA approval yet? City loses money to let a for-profit company use city property for free? Concerts for a cause? is that the name? What's the cause? new house charity? New landscaping charity? New vehicle charity? New business remodeling charity? New backyard pool charity? Damn, I want a charity too! Princeton brings in good entertainers each year. Ottawa brings in good entertainers each year. Why can't Peru organize it's own events?
I hope someone will remember the last time that Peru was able to bring in some entertainment beside the summer movies and the Peru Band concerts. Not that those aren't good programs because they both are and we are lucky to be able to have them. What is different about Peru from Ottawa and Princeton? I think that Princetons entertainment is probably part of the Bureau County Fair but I know that they have artsy type events all through the year. We need some creative thinkers in our government.
Those 4 tickets that have been on sale on EBay for the Kid Rock concert can as of later today (April 14th) be legally made available. How the party in Massachusetts got them so far in advance is beyond me. And, why would anyone pay $175 plus $15 shipping for $58 tickets that are in abundance at this time. Mysterious and questionable to me!

Free Pizza for everyone. I am sure a few council members will be bartending for the event, because they want to make sure minors are not being served.
OMG What the heck is going on in this city?
12:04 that's what i'd like to know. what is going on in this city and how can people have tickets to a concert before they've even been released?
