Pictures taken after a single vehicle accident in which the out of control car drove through fences surrounding the Sr. League baseball diamond and then through the fence surrounding the pool landing in the deep end of the swimming pool.

Lois

I demand an explanation from the Mayor and his vast array of costly "experts" that's syphoned OUR TAX dollars to one question.

If the pool was so fragile as Harl claimed with his dog and pony show; why didn't a 3-4 thousand lb car cause significant damage and actually sink into the foundation? Damn it somebody is going to explain to the taxpayers why over $40,000 was spent on a "study" when an accident today proved a large portion of that "study" to be false and fabricated!

If you enlarge the picture of the baseball diamond, you can see the route of travel through the diamonds.

Why are there two sets of tire marks? If only a single car? My god, I hope they are ok!!!

If the car went THROUGH the diamond why is it facing the diamond? No skid marks at scene did it spin in the air, flip, turn, etc.

That is very strange and I went back and checked my other photos and they all have sets of tire tracks. Spooky.

Maybe the driver blacked out. All the airbags deployed you could see that through the windows. The accident also tore off one of the wheels which is laying in the pool. Also the right door looks pretty banged up so he hit something sideways before coming to a complete stop. Wonder if there was a mechanical problem with the car.

Wow Kristy, I thought you had an education. How many people go swimming in a pool with no water as opposed to those who go swimming in a pool that has water that weighs exactly 8.3 pounds per gallon. I think you are at least looking at 100,000 gallons of water at a total weight of over 800,000 pounds. I think that is a little different than the weight of a car. WOW! glad that consulting firm didn`t have you working for them.

How DUMB can some people be? Just because the car didn't fall into a big cavern doesn't mean that the pool isn't undermined and have bad spots in other areas.

8:32 were you the dog, pony, or trainer?

8:32 are you maybe a vendor to the "show"? Or a remorseful contributor to the "show"-master?

The constituents are really tired of shoveling crap left from the dog and pony show. Thank God all shows must come to an end...

Lois,

Have been seeing an increase in name calling and criticism when someone posts a simple thought, or suggestion.
Although we all have the Right to say what we please,I thought sharing a few facts and suggestions to your bloggers "MAY" lighten things up a bit. Just something to think about;-)

All we really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be, we learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.
These are the things we learned:

*Share everything.
*Play fair.
*Don't hit people.
*Put things back where you found them.
*Clean up your own mess.
*Don't take things that aren't yours.
*Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
*Wash your hands before you eat.
*Flush.
*Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
*Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
*Take a nap every afternoon.
*When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
*Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
*Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.
*And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.

Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess.

And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together;-)

Have a Great Day;-)

8:32 Since you are sighting figures for waters weight per gal and how many gals in pool you forgot one critical calculation the quare footage area of the pool including the walls and divide that number by the weight of the water and that will tell you how much weight per quare foot, which I'm sure would be considerably less than the weight of the car being launched into the pool. Because I figure the car at about 3400 pounds devided by four is roughly 850 pounds per foot static weight, and now launch that car in the pool I'm sure it was a lot more than 850. So if you are going to sight things as facts you should try to include them all, instead of enough to prove your excuse for Harl killing the pool.

No, Kristy, Not part of the dog and pony show. I take no sides other then those who will sluff off public safety for political gain. My 5th grader was able to see through you comments about the car. even he knows how much a gallon of water weighs. You would be the first person to yell hang the administration if some tragic event happened at the pool. Experts put their license on the line and sign those engineering reports knowing they could be taken away. The people in peru are interested in the safety of their children not your selfish politics. At least this administration is willing to put their political standing on the line in the name of public safety. Thats courage.

I demand an explanation as to why the sun sets in the west! Who does this Kristy person think she is? Unless she is an engineer that has examined the pool, how can she question an engeneers report? It's a safety issue!

Anonymous said...

10:32 if an engineer told you the sun set in the East would you believe him?

Was it a safety issue, an ADA issue, Virginia Grahm Baker issue blah blah blah because I recall properly the original 25K study was voted on to determine IF, WHERE, and RECOMMENDATIONS on water loss? Not to close the pool.

Recall another qualified engineer firm specializing in pools appeared before the council twice. This firm didn't deny the the age of the pool but mentioned possibly a specialized liner that would last 7-8 years. This would have allowed for fund-raising and community support w/o closing the pool. The company also offered fund-raising support as part of their service. Mayor Harl wasn't interested so he chose the "safety" aspect.

As one who worked in the EHS; those who abuse the "safety" argument in order to move their agenda is a prime example why legitimate concerns and regulations are difficult to enforce and that is WRONG! Just ask your 5th grader.
