I was unable to personally attend the Recreation Board Meeting tonight but when I heard the results of this meeting it was embarrassing to every resident of Peru to think that Mayor Scott Harl and the majority of the City Council ignore the actions of this board and do not reprimand them for their illegal activities, month after month. Yes the Recreation Board knows and they apparently don't care and the above mentioned don't care either. Have they no integrity? Appears not.
This was sent to me after the meeting tonight.
Once again the Rec Board violated the OMA by voting on an issue that was not listed on their agenda for voting. And, once again an elected official and some citizens were treated with total disrespect. Oh, and the fireworks contract that was supposed to be decided and sealed by September is still up in the air. Video to follow!!!

Well, there is a window of time when citizens can sue without the approval of the states attorney. It might be a good civics lesson for the people of the community that laughing at these laws is not a good idea. Especially during an election.
Clock is ticking, might as well make the paper for something real, instead of the horrible, rowdy council disturbances the citizens are accused of.
I am convinced after watching this group of elected officials with the exception of 2 of them, that the only thing that will wake them up and might convince them that they are not the untouchables that they think they are is a lawsuit Four years and they still play the same games over and over again. I think someone said the first fine would be $1000 and not sure that would even make them blink. But then there would be attorney fees too. Might be a possibility and surely a reason for more closed sessions.
Just arrived home as I have been busy all day in my office in Springfield. Often read the Peru Town Forum as I still have relatives in the area. They also have been informing me of the corruption, illegalities, and unfair acts by city officials. I will be interested in watching the video and the minutes of this boards meeting. Keep up the good work and in tough times remember you have more on your side than you think. Its people such as yourselves that I work for in a government position. You have 60 days from the date of the meeting they will review it quickly in fact I have heard they call within 24 hours to the accused
What did they do? What do they call crowds that attempt to overtake the action of those groups that are representing the government? Some call this mob action or terrorism. Free speech is the rock they hide under. We all know these individuals that show up at meetings and cause havoc are about personal agendas and vendettas, never about upholding laws. They like the Bizzaro World. The threats of lawsuits, fines are just the intimidation for the hard working volunteers that represent the City Park.

You are an embarrassment to the city of Peru and the more we are able to shine a light upon your activities, the sooner the city will be able to look everyone that lives here in the eye and say your concerns are important to us and we will look for a fair and just solution to them and eliminate the special interests controlling this city.

Follow the laws, take your votes, answer opposition questions. Don't place yourself on the side of Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini as you cry "Save us form the lady terrorists who make faces and ask questions, and even threaten to to take us to that evil place they call court."
Don't worry, I do not really equate the Rec board with those afore named dictators. Just wanted to point out how ludicrous your terrorism accusation sounds.

Thank you for the name and address of further action to be taken. Seems as there is a lot of out of town interest taking place in Peru.
Incidentally what progress has been made regarding the recording of the city council meeting that was interupted by having the closed session after public coments at the start of the meeting. People in this profession know the characteristics of the product they are installing and are well aware of its limitations.
What activities and what special interest is happening? The only special interest at the meetings is the special interest placed on this new fireworks provider that is the same price, and had not so much boom in Ottawa last year. I admit that looks like Special Interest. But the price is the same.
I was under the impression that competitive bidding had to take place on the fireworks. How can you have the same price and have competitive bidding at the same time?

8:25 You are so far off base it's pathetic. Just because people ask questions or seek compromise does not make them terrorists. Why should one side of the coin get everything they want but the other gets nothing? Could it be because of connections to board members? It definitely appears that way. Others who ask for compromise and who have been mocked, ridiculed, shouted at, and told the discussion is over are labeled troublemakers? Get the full story before you make your ridiculous comments.

No relationship with the new company but many question the relationship Ald. Ankiewicz has with the other company, Melrose. No logical person would continue to push for the long used company unless there was a something in the bid beside the fireworks July 3.
Same price because that's how we go out for bid. Just more bang for the buck with this new company. We don't go out to each company and say "here's what we want how much would it cost"? Instead we go out to each company and say "we have $20,000 what will you give us"? Who knows, we may be (and probably are) getting $15,000 worth of bang for $20,000.
What did they vote on that wasn't on the agenda? I can't find a video of it
