Account and finance alderman committee received six requests from different organizations today?
Which were bought forward to the council and which were donated to? When all candidates have filed should incumbents be allowed to grant donations as it is actually campaigning on the taxpayers buck?
Should any office holder make a donation unless he is doing it privately, and not using tax payers funds which were collected to support the local government and only the local government. City government also should not make a effort to be compettitive with United Way and should inform organizations to fund raise on their own.
Recently the Recreation Board asked to be considered for donations from Concert for a Cause, have they thought of making a appeal to United Way or the Salvation Army?

Peru's Washington Park was once a privately owned horse race track known as the Race Course. The entire twenty acres was purchased in 1886 for $3,000. Upon a pepetition signed by 166 citizens that was presented to the city council to purchase tract for a city park it submitted it to a special election on July 2, 1885 to determine if the park should be bought. The total vote was 672: 359 for purchase, 312 against. Purchase was made Jan 3, 1886.
An estimated 10,000 people saw the opening day auto race Oct 16, 1917. The auto racetrack once took up almost all of Peru's Washington Park. The speedway was graded, curved and banked and a canvas fence fence surrounded it.
