BB Gun Club in Peru

The first meeting of the Peru BB gun club was held on January 22,2013 Jeff Sheppard, Greg Vaccaro along with the Peru Police Department worked on this project.

La Salle and Oglesby already have BB gun clubs in place. The Peru club will be similar to the Oglesby program that has been in existence for over 50 years and is still remains active. The program will introduce boys and girls to using guns safely and markmanship will be taught under adult supervision.

Donations solicited from local supporters and businesses and the newly formed Peru club purchased 20 Daisy brand youth rifles with the money according to Vaccaro. Peru police dept will have their officers help with teaching gun awareness and gun safety. Awards will be given for perfect scores and top shooters.

After the recent discovery that the city and the Rec. Bd. have been conducting fireworks with Melrose without a contract for numerous years I would appreciate a reply to these questions Have all modern safety factors and codes been applied to the area in which BB Gun activity is being conducted?
Has the insurance consultant and city attorney updated all paperwork that is essential to the participants safety and future well being if a accident was to happen? Is the city fully protected if a unforseen incident such as a injury was to take place?
Has necessary medical release papers been signed by parents, guardians and club instructors in the case of injuries to a child so that he/she can be medically treated without having to wait until someone can get a medical release from a parent or guardian. Is the BB Gun Club a chartered organization with all necessary paper work completed for the State of Illinois?

Perhaps someone associated with the police department could answer your questions.

Yes perhaps someone from the police dept. could answer the above questions of Anon 1:23.

But who is delegated in the organazational chart to have the responsibility to answer them, and who has the responsibility to make sure all necessary procedures are carried out properly.

I don't know if you have noticed it but most appointed officials such as the Asst. Bldg. Insp, the SPW, the Budget Director are half baked cookies in need of quite a bit more seasoning. Not one of the three have the necessary people skills to do the job properly nor the attitude to acquire the skills,
the BD has the essential knowledge of his profession but lacks patience to explain the basic methods to others. Much more a loan wolf than a team player.

Its a tough job for the BD to explain any finacial aspect or simple addition, subtraction to a few of those elected/appointed officials.

It appears the YMCA has become an unofficial department within the City of Peru. Alderman/CEO Potthoff, Y vice president/school board member/bb gun aficionado Sheppard, Y vice president/Apple Press aka. Harl road sign maker/bb gun aficionado Vaccaro, and Y board member/TIF attorney/attorney for Schweickert "conflict of interests" Klein. Not to mention the attorney for the Link estate/numerous other property within the City...

The roots of the City tree run deep.

Anon 8:19 Isn't the gentleman who is promoting Peru over the internet at $1,000/month also on the Y board.
In Peru you don't want to kick anyone in the seat of the pants because some day you might get the whole town all at once. Its getting pretty tightly wound.

Good questions 1:23, but will you ever get answers. I hope the mayor watches the 24 hours of The Christmas Story because you will shoot your eye out.

1:24 when Hartauer Insurance purchased Duncan Insurance I believe the City consultant, Mr. Martuzzo, was forced to STOP his "consultant" gig for the City of Peru. I suppose we Peru tax payers should thank this LaSalle business for saving the Peru tax payers since the council with Baker or Harl didn't!! Thanks Bart!

So how long has the city been without a insurance consultant. If it was such a important position that Peru had it for years how can the city be without. Wan't there a clause that if the consultant made a mistake his agency would be liable rather than the city.
If a insurance consultant is as important as city officials have led us to believe wouldn't you have one before you would have three seperate promoters of Peru. The Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Mister Robert Vickery, and MCS Avertising.
