The link sent this morning no longer works. This is the site I was originally sent to but no longer can access with that link posted. I am not indorsing this project at this time but am posting it if you wish to sign the petition. I am not in favor of the bike path at this time or the swimming pool either due to the over $100,000 season upkeep on top of the initial expenditure for the pool.

These sound like great projects. And you are against this why?
When the city has a consistent source of revenue dedicated to the pool or bike path, then I say go for it. We don't now as infrastructure and property are still big money eaters. We need new ideas.
Unless you have a pickle ball court within 20 feet of your backyard you have no clue as to how irritating the sound of the game itself is. Add to that the rudeness and loud, loud voices of those playing and you become angry and upset that anyone in the city of Peru would allow this to happen. They have no respect or consideration for anyone other than themselves. Swear words are even becoming a part of the game. Aldermen of Peru if you intend to keep this game around move it away from citizens and their homes. For once do the right thing or maybe matters will have to be resolved in a court of law. Facts are facts. This court was chosen because it is and was convenient for the ambassador. Now that he's been accommodated (illegally I might add) let's relocate this court. This was the worst location to place the game in the first place but it was done so for the convenience of the ambassador. Think before you act and listen to all citizens who might be affected by this boisterous game.
Seems like a lot of people on here want their cake and to eat it too.

Once you figure that out the above issues will handle themselves...we had 4 different ideas for mayor last time and Harl still won. Got to make it about jobs good solid paying jobs.
When it comes to the election, ONLY 2 people should be running for election (a primary to determine this). Only then will you find out who the people want. As far as BIG paying jobs in this area, good luck!! Smart business has seen the results of the past. The bigshots with their union pins have screwed it up for the HONEST hard working individual.
6:17 pm. It would be nice to only have a choice between two candidates, but telling a citizen they can't fulfill their civil duty because they didn't win a primary wouldn't be right. This is where I am supportive of PAC's. Having an organized group stand behind a candidate would be beneficial, and it could also encourage the candidate who didn't get the nomination to stay involved and perhaps join the PAC if it fit his/her beliefs.
Primaries are held for the presidential election. Do you mean to tell me it's not good enough for the mayoral election in Peru?
Justin, what made you come to the opinion that a citizen can't fulfill their civic duty because they didn't win a primary?
Most truly dedicated candidates stay active in city activities whether they win or lose. As a example of this statement I submit the name of a outstanding young political aspirant, Justin Loger.
I would think that the majority of incumbents lose their 1st attempt at public office. An organized group under a different name than PAC (Political Action Committee)would be a very good idea for Peru. Obviously calling the group PAC would reduce the number of those interested. Maybe something like PPC, Peru's Progressive Citizenship or Citzens for a More Progressive Peru (CMPP) would be more appropriate.
Having such an organized effort would fulfill the void left by Mayor Harl who promised monthly open town hall meetings. Allowing Peru to be more "transparent"

PACS are just another name for unlimited fundraising. Nothing more. A small town called Peru needs a PAC? Thats a reach. Can't wait to see who's involved in this group and what are the goals?
Art; that is the point I was arguing with the statement from 6:17. Elections should be open to everyone and everybody, regardless if they win a primary or not, as for citizen involvement, the more the merrier! 9:00. I view a PAC as a hub for citizens to get together and discuss issues and solutions face to face within the city itself, not as a vessel for unlimited fundraising. I am 100% against having a lobbyist, but our leaders felt otherwise. As for a PAC, group of citizens getting together, whatever you want to call it, I am all for it.
Why a walk path ? why a bike path ? why not a lawn mower and golf cart path ? i see them all over town . last friday a golf cart pulled into the igloo driven ? a pool would be better then Harls pickle ball park for his buddy ( the goof ) . even a splash pad would be more useful .
The past election had "the more the merrier" and as a result Harl was reelected with a small amount of votes. In my opinion he was put back in by the union. There were too many running for office and this is why the final election should be limited to 2 people. Those 2 would be chosen from a primary election.
I noticed that the Public Worst Committee has just taken the first step to avoid competitive bidding for water and wastewater services. Another $3 million dollar gift to TEST.

Waldorf and Lukosus have made it official that they are nothing more than brainless pawns lacking any moral or ethical compass.
This committee has just slapped the face of every honest and hard working citizen in Peru. Dave Waldorf and Jim Lukosus have confirmed that they are dedicated to protecting the interests of a private corporation over the interests of the people of Peru. This is a "set-aside contract" for a politically conected private company. Where is the leadership of a strong mayor when we really need it?

A primary is a great idea for party line politics, that way the party unites with one candidate. In the local town elections you have no political parties as a result no need for primary elections. A waste of money for citizens of LaSalle County.
I thought one of the big issues our current mayor had with the past mayor was failure to go out for bids. Wonder what his thoughts are today now that the test contract is coming to a close.
Deep thinking is not one of his attributes, so I would imagine he will let it slide by just as he has with everything else.
I also think a primary is a ridiculous idea, but do not favor the free for all system. The barriers to nomination can be set much higher to get on the ballot and a run off can be required if you do not get 50 percent
I know that a run off would be additional expense, but it could work and would avoid the party partisanship and would allow some of that free for all aspect.
Allowing anybody to run is a nice concept , but in practice those systems always heavily favor an incumbent, especially with an uneducated and parochial electorate. Every little tribe supports there person and votes for them out of spite and prejudice.
The current administration has a reputation of letting everything reach the deadline. Thus there is never enough time allowed to reach a sensible decision.
12:12 Speaking of Harl's buddy the ambassador of pickle ball, word out on the street is that he filed a complaint with the PPD concerning a car making too much noise that went by his home. This is the same individual who has no respect for the neighbors who live close to "his" court and must listen to the constant whack of the ball.
Maybe primary is the wrong term. I apologize. My point is the election should be limited to 2 people (no matter what party) and that would be determined by a previous election. As far as extra cost, look around and tell me if YOUR LEADERS care.
Everyone should read the Illinois Municipal Code. We can't have a partisan primary. However, if one more person would have turned in a valid petition last time, a primary election would have been forced - leaving two candidates on the ballot for the general municipal election. Who knows - maybe Harl would have been kicked off the ballot. Maybe that is a strategy for next time. Get two strong oppposition candidates and two week candidates to challange Harl.

Why would he complain? It's a street? People drive on streets?
He should move to the country if the noise bothers him. I did a graph and showed that loud cars only drove by his house .3 per cent of his life, so it's not a big deal.
He knew when he moved into his home that there was a street and cars drive on streets and some cars make noise.
After all he chose to live by a street!

I don't know who the pickleball ambassador is or where he lives? Could you post his name and contact information for interviews, information on playing etc. It would be a public service to those of us who are not as intimately involved with the city of Peru.

His name is Jim Grabowski. He's a businessman. I'd think he'd be worried about he conducts himself since he needs people for his success. I know I've told as many people as I possibly can about how he acts and how he treats the neighbors. When you're in business for yourself, you have to watch how you treat people.
The city and the committees failed the residents of 28th street park by not doing their due diligence regarding this game. The ambassador on a cold January night went to the rec board and asked that the tennis court be changed to pickle ball and his wish was granted along with $3,000 dollars to start the game up. No questions asked, nothing on the agenda, but then when your wife is on the board you do not have to follow the rules.
I was asking for his name and address only so I would get his side for an upcoming article I am planning to write.

7:56 Make sure you get the neighbors that live 20 feet from the court's side. You will get none of the details from the ambassador or the city. The neighbors will tell you from day one what has happened, and you will get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.

He did put on quite a show Sunday morning, so much so that it lasted until after lunch. But what does he care he can go home to his quiet back yard and listen to the cars go by.
