Peru Ambulance Board Will Need a New Member

After the election results are certified by the La Salle County Clerk, the new members will be sworn in and that means that Jack O'Beirne and Jamey Mertel will be gone. That also means that now the PVAS will be short one member according to their bylaws. That also means that Ald. Ankiewicz and Ald. Mikyska will need to name a new member from the goup of remaining alderman. Of course the bylaws simply state, it needs to be an elected official so theoretically it could by the City Clerk, perhaps the City Treasuer but this is an elective office filled by an appointee or the Mayor. My guess is all 3 would refuse and so back to the remaining aldermen. Ferrari, Radtke, Perez, Waldorf, Lukosus or Potthoff are the choices. Any guesses on that. Looking forward to the March ambulance report which should be available soon.

I believe the board recently re-wrote their bi-laws and have it set to how they want it.

Does that mean that our city attorney has rewritten the agreement (bylaws)?
Hopefully the board will now have some medical and business personal asked to serve.

Now that O'Beirne is retiring from the city council, does that mean that he will no longer be on the PVAS board or will they rewrite them so that he can stay?

Who is on the board at affordable waste? Test? Chamlins? Dimmick Fire District? Liberty Fire Co? Fop? IBEW? Local 150? IFFA? MAP? It doesn't matter. Get over yourself before the citizens have NO ambulance to help them. You two are the problem.

Sounds like an O'Beirne fan to me. Exactly the mentality that is giving this city its problems. PVAS is on life support right now.

3:46 Baker in 2013? You're joking right?

The last ambulance report given by aldermen Mertel was 3-14-11. There should be one given at Monday's meeting but I see none listed on the agenda. A slip-up? We will have to see if a report is in Monday's packet. It would be the first report given since La Salle parted ways with PVAS. I also see that someone said that new by-laws were established. I wonder who wrote them and what the changes were. Does anyone know if this is true and were the changes for the betterment of the service or for other reasons?

I'm not from Peru, but from what I have heard from a few reliable sources is that the Bi-Laws have recently been re-written... the committee consists of Aldermen Mikyska, Ankiewicz, O'Beirne and Mr. Piano.
So I guess to find out if this is a fact you will need to just ask at your next meeting.

If true and we will ask tomorrow, the name would be familiar to some Peru residents as he served as a Peru alderman years ago when Mayor Baker was our mayor. And then would mean a continuing connection?

Does anyone know who this Mr. Piano is and why he would be a part of the changing of the PVAS by-laws (if indeed they were changed)? Wouldn't you think an attorney would have to be involved in something this important? Does Mr. Piano have any medical knowledge?

Has anyone come across or heard for sure whether new by=laws have been established for PVAS and if Mr. Piano is or is not a board member and why or why not?

I asked Mr Ankiewicz last night about the new by laws and he said I could pick up a copy at the ambulance service and I will try to get their withing the next few days. Don't know about Mr. Piano.
