Recreation board role in new outdoor swimming pool
Support and donation of some of their funds would be a good start

Well since you asked Lois, we do not need a porta potty, or an enclosure thank you very much. This is a neighborhood park not a huge city park where baseball games are played. The last porta potty we had was tipped over numerous times and set on fire and that was more than twenty years ago. Have gotten along without one for that long, don't need one now. Waste of money!

Why does the tennis court at Washington Park need cracks filled already? The courts were just resurfaced not even a year ago, and now we have to pay more to fill cracks? Shouldn't there be a warranty?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps the cracks were let go in a rush to re-finish the courts and ramrod pickleball down our craw. Is the 3-sided structure supposed to allay the sensitivities of the neighbors of 28th Street Park ? These too were ignored by the clown on his 3-wheel bike and the Board.

Speaking of Veterans Park… the cemetery is just south of that park. Who was the brainiac that came up with that idea? What is the plan when the cemetery is full? The plan is… just like everything in Peru… NO PLAN. These nitwits – and I put the entire City administration in that category – can’t think beyond what they are having for lunch today. And if you put two of them in a room to organize lunch, they will both starve to death. That’s ok, let’s just stuff about ten thousand people on a street that has only two ways in and out and is blocked by a river on one side. To spice things up a bit, we can sell beer and set of explosives from the other side of the river. If that’s not enough fun, let’s drive a freight train right down the middle of it.

Just saw a city truck on with garbage cans on the back and 2 workers inside. Do we now work on Saturdays and Sundays? Is that the reason we don't want volunteers? O.T.??

Anonymous said...

Exactly, the union will complain to their poster child Harl if any more volunteer work is done in Peru!

Anonymous said...

Is there a city employee who gets paid overtime for weekends and never has to report to work? I understand that it is a agreement made with the Mayor.

Know this isnt te topic. Now mr travis nelson and eddie
Mitchell recieved my vote. It has come to my knowledge they have joined the republican party. Shame on then for decieving voters. Shame on you for lying and running as indys then quickly changing parties. Shame on you!

Anonymous said...

Did anyone see Joe Sr using township truck dumping files at eagles?

Anonymous said...

5:04 no deception everyone knew they were Republicans...less government and conservatism? Township will not be the job it was in 4 years less salary less benefits its a thankless. And election is over you can't save the road commissioner now he took the blame for sure Hocking was telling everyone joe is in charge of the roads and he can't do a thing without trustee approval..I know he called me to vote

Back to Rec. Bd. I'd like a splash pad in Peru. At the rate money is accumulating for a swimming pool in Peru no one will remember what a swimming pool is before Peru gets one built. Just being realistic.
Same old Peru story, what Peru wastes every year could build several splash pads.

Anonymous said...

Then why didnt he run as a repub? At least debo did. More lies. Thanks travis and eddie!! Typical politicians!

Anonymous said...

i ad no idea they were republicans and i voted for them! lying already and they havnt even taken office. great.........

Anonymous said...

The rec board should have been looking at the possibility of a splash pad when the swimming pool closed. They receive 75,000 each year and with some planning and foresight it could have been in the works already this year. I consider a splash pad recreation, just as the swimming pool was. They worry too much about individual sports and not enough about the kids and parks in general. Last years pickleball debacle is a prime example of where their interests seem to be. You are exactly right 10:41 too much waste, and no planning.

It is totally irrelevant whether our twp officials are democrat or republican or independent. Our mayor is a democrat and look what we got with that. Election is over and no one is currently running for a position, so get rid of your party labels, we are not interested.

Anonymous said...

dont worry that wasnt the only lie; they told everyone whatever they wanted to hear and you people never bothered to check any information out - you get what you deserve!

Check your facts before you spew ideas that you know nothing about.
The city owns the farm land east of the cemetery, behind the church and 2 homes to the west, even to the west entry to Parkside school.
They have owned this for decades. Nothing has been built there because it is set a side for expansion of the cemetery. Thank former mayor Baker for his forethought the next time you bump into him.

just making an assumpmtion here - but in order to run on the ticket as either Democrat or a Republican, you must be slected by the party leadership - we have a caucus in LaSalle County. Maybe they did not decide to run in time? Or posbbily, they did not have the appropriate credentials (i.e. party membership, consistently selecting a Republican ballot for the primary election, etc) for the caucus.
As an FYI - it is harder to get on the ballot for Township or County positions as an independent.
If anyone thought that the "Peru Township Independents" had any leaning toward the policies and ideology of the Democrat Party (as currently defined) then they don't know the difference between the two. It is quite possible, that many of the "Democrat" voters don't know that they are actually "Republican" in their views???

Anonymous said...

the point is they lied- ran as independents- and switched over to republican -- lies lies and more lies peru is a joke

Let's wait and see how they do before criticizing them. Labels are totally inappropriate in any local election, township or municipal. The folks that were of the other party that had been in office had not been doing such a hot shot job. BTW where in the world did you get such wild gossip. I suggest you call each one of those people, newly elected and ask their opinions.

I think it is very important becase the Democrats and Republicans have different beliefs about what the government is and is not responsible for. I would have to disagree with you if you think that does not apply at the local level. I think it applies even more. To put it into context, our localc government should not be supporting a BB Gun club for local children - that is outside the requirement of government. On the other hand, our local governments should support a pistol range for the police to practice in. That is within the bounds of government.

Anonymous said...

I got it from vickrey. The chairman!!

Anonymous said...

Lies. I'm pretty sure the democrat mayor told a few lies and told everybody exactly what they wanted to hear!

Anonymous said...

LaSalle County and Peru are full of people that automatically vote for everybody with a (D) next to their name becacuse "FDR got us out of the Depression" and "LBJ gave of Medicare." They don't look at what the current policies are and how much they are costing us.

Anonymous said...

The cemetery needs of more room for expansion may become a moot point. Cremations with 'family stacks' and new technology may save much valuable space.

they are now also repub precinct commiteemen

3:22, 6:47, 10:12, and 12:53 I never lied to anyone about my political views. To help you or anyone else, that wants to know more about me, My family history has strong ties to both parties. As I became more educated (graduated from college with a political science degree) and older, the more I have identified myself as being a moderate/conservative republican. The four of us, Art, Mary, Travis, and myself ran as Independents. Art and Mary are Democrats. Travis and myself Republicans. We put party politics aside to reform Peru township. The problems within Peru township are not party issues but management issues and the lack of transparency within government. TOI, Townships Of Illinois, provides recommendations to IL townships to use, Mr. Hockings and the board chose not to use or follow them.

Anonymous said...

I dont care what party you are as long as they do something about out of control spending. I also saw on a social media site that Biederstedt has a budgeted salary of $21,000 but makes over $40,000...who is getting lied too????

Anonymous said...

every township follows toi recommendations just because they dont follow the ones you and travis think should be followed doesnt make then wrong. they have always had an open door policy - how much more transparent can you get? for your information did you know that no local townships have websites - not even lasalle.

Anonymous said...

7:57
if you dont know how to correctly read the budget and need it explained to you - make an appointment to come into the township and have it explained to you. there is nothing secretive and underhanded as others would have you believe.

Anonymous said...

If we change LaSalle County to a commission form, we can get rid of all the township positions, including the assessor. Not the road district though.
We would also get rid of most of the county board members.

Anonymous said...

@11:32 you must work at the township!!! You stated come into the township! You should have blogged go to the township. When you were making a reference
To 7:57's blog. Nice to know township workers read these blogs!! Get rid of
Township! Worthless! OVERPAID!

Anonymous said...

757 why are you so against a website. You are correct to say those without a computer can come and see you at the township. But many of us have a computer and don't need to talk to you.

Anonymous said...

4:27
as a matter of fact I dont - I just am familiar with what they do.
9:32
no i didnt say those without a computer can come/go to the township I said everyone - get off your duff and find out what is going on in the world.

Anonymous said...

In order to see what is going on in the world you need to leave Peru. Those that venture out into the world will disconver that the Illinois Valley dosen't do things the way other communities do. You will find that we are actually quite backward in our thinking. You will find that most of the government leadership is either entrenched in side deals or incapable of thinking for themselves. So yes, you are right. Need to get off our duff and check out the world outside of Illinois and outside of Peru. You will be suprised at what you find.
Fire Deparments that don't double as a social club. Police forces that don't promote people and let them retire six months later, Park systems that are set up for the neighborhoods they are in, every employee having an actual job to do, road districts longer than seven miles, road resurfacing projects longer than one block, need I say more?

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:55 Peru has had road resurfacing longer than one block. Sometime even two blocks if the street ended up at the "right" persons driveway.
