New Grocery Coming to Oglesby Next Year

This is a just for your information posting because people seem to be interested in having an additional grocery in the area. Not in Peru but the N.T. states that a company out of Quincy, Niemann Foods will be constructing a new store in Oglesby. They also operate the Cub Stores.  This store will be one of the County Market stores associated with the same company.  Checking there locate a store, shows they already have stores in Pontiac, Dixon and Sterling in northern Illinois and many others in central and southern Illinois and Missouri.

Construction will not begin until next year. This is great for the folks in Oglesby who have been without a grocery for 15 years.

Very happy for Oglesby. Who has the Director of Economic Development in Oglesby as Mr. Vickry has in Peru?

Less tax revenue for Peru. Wonder how many residents from LaSalle will go to Olgesby to grocery shop? Very nice for Olgesby. Nice little home town.

Being from Oglesby, if the new store is not competive in pricing, I will shop in Peru where I can buy all the other things I need to live!

don't worry @8:32. The County Market ownership is in a battle with HyVee for Illinois market share. I'm sure prices will be on par if not lower. I would also expect that other retial outfits will be eyeing that location once the grocery is up an running. Ten to fifteen years from now, that are might possibly have more ratail than Peru - especially considering the way Peru treats business.
