If You Wish to Promote the Pickleball Game and Bash Others

For no reason at all, this topic has taken an ugly turn. I always sign my name to my opinions and a few of you have gotten your kicks out of insulting and denigrating me while you choose to keep yourself anonymous. The same goes for Linda and Jill you insult them and then hide behind anonymous.

I will also add Bob and Judy Quick another neighborhood family who has taken hits by rude and ignorant anonymous writers. No one has any respect for those who hide behind anon with insulting comments. Maybe it makes you feel good to hide but I don't like it and those neighbors don't deserve the comments you are making.

If you are so gung ho about protecting this group of pickleball players, you must sign your name or your post will be considered spam and into the round file it will be sent. I don't expect so many of your posts any longer

Posts that are unrelated to pickleball will still be accepted without your name.

The game was illegally put in place and the IL Atty Gen has the records to prove it. It was not on the agenda of the Rec Commission when it was approved back in January. Get to the Peru web site and look it up for yourself before you involve yourself in this fiasco.

Most of the elected officials have acted not only dishonestly but in a manner that is insulting to the residents of this city. If they believe they have no authority then I suggest they don't run for office again and the citizens will easily find others to replace them.

Finally you are going to correct the problem I complained about weeks ago. If people identify themselves with opinions it may lead to future dialogues face to face or phone to phone. Who knows, it may lead to sensible conclusions. The Quicks were picked on because their suggestions were not met with approval by the 'pickers'. It is grossly unfair and hopefully your decision will end garbage posts.

Thanks Cecil. If they wish to put their name on their post, I will publish, although I may wish to verify it if it is a name I am not familiar with. And yes I do know most of the names associated with this "game".

I find it a little disheartening that people are willing to attack others as long as they don't have to sign their name. As soon as they are asked to identify themselves they cease to comment.

Lois - This is a good step forward. However, if you require commentors to identify themselves for the "pickle" issue you must apply the same standard to every issue being commented on.
Please do not hold a "Double-Standard" for those topics of discussion that you are more passionate about. Don't pick and choose.
This forum is losing more and more legitimacy with every anonymous comment that you allow that involves name-calling and defamatory language toward anyone.
Please reform this blog!

8:06 the need for remaining anon is pretty clear and valid for a blog in this small town and vindictive community history. If attack posts are evenly screened, the problem is solved.
You must accept that members of committees and elected officials will be attacked pretty roughly. That comes with the territory. However, when citizens, citizens who do identify themselves by the way , are personally attacked with vehemence, it needs to be screened.
I do agree that personal attacks on either side ( some of the Ferrari family attacks come to mind) should be prohibited.

Anon 8:06 I didn't quite get that. What did you say your name was again?

1:28 p.m. - I didn't say. I also didn't attack anybody or insult anybody or use defamatory language towards anybody.
The point is that this blog is simply dysfunctional because there is a total lack of civility that poisons the discussion. Your comment for example, offers nothing substantive. Just sarcasm. If that's constructive to the discussion for you then you can't really be serious about improving Peru.

Anon 8:06 If you believe this blog does not have legitimacy because of practicing anonymous comments and holding, in your estimation a "Double-Standard" why didn't you identify yourself?
Instead of correcting what you feel so strong about you did exactly opposite of what you have found in your own opinion to be wrong with the blog. WHY?
When correcting all others please first practice what you yourself preach.
I personally in most comments find anonymous to be a rather efficient means of allowing one to express themselves. It allows a person to freely comment without a personal conflict because of who you are or who you aren't. A person should always conduct themselves as a lady or gentleman and not misuse anonymous to become embarrassing to others.

Funny all the people complaining about 8:06 signing anon are all signed anonymous.

Anon 9:00 All those who answered 8:06 gave their legitimate reasons for signing as anonymous. It was 8:06 who complained and than did exactly what he/she complained about. Read what is there not what you percept to be there.
