The city web site does not have the council meeting of Nov 14, 2012 what is the reason for this?

Peru Town Forum said...

I was informed by the city clerk that the file was larger than normal because the Mayor had interrupted the meeting with a closed session. With the equipment he has he was unable to put in on the city web site. It has been turned over to Connecting Point to see if they can convert it to a form that can be put on the web site. Keep your fingers crossed on this one.

Stay on them Lois.

Was the Nov 14 meetings file to large or to embarrassing? If connecting point fails have it sent directly to the Attorney General for safe guarding of evidence for the cities future court date regarding pickle ball.

GO FIGURE- I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SURPRISED IF THERE WERE OTHER REASONS FOR NO VIDEO LIKE THE OTHER BLOGGER BLOGGED: FOGGY LENS, ON OFF BUTTONS NOT WORKING, ACCIDENTALLY DELETED, TAPE BROKE, CAMERA PISITIONED TO CEILING, , VOLUMN DIDN'T WORK, CAMERA FELL OFF WALL, SCREWS BROKE, THEY FORGOT HOW IT WORKS, TOO TIRED TO PUSH BUTTON TO RECORD, etc... Get my drift? Wondering how often this is going to happen in the future? WHO IS ACTUALLY THE AMBASSADOR OF VIDEOTAPPING OF COUNCIL MEETINGS? ARE THE APPOINTED? IF THEY WERE ELECTED AND GET PAID THAN WHY THE PROBLEMS? I know people who have business and home surveillance and it's a simple process.

If Connecting Point can't figure how to condense it, maybe the city needs to hire somebody who can. It seems like a fairly easy process to cut out the 40 or so minutes of closed session and post the rest of the video! I think one of my kids could do that!!

If it had been any other meeting other than the Nov. 14th one where things got a little out of hand I wouldn't be suspicious. And if the Nov. 19th meeting hadn't been put on the next day (this never happened before) I wouldn't be suspicious. Why would you even turn the camera on knowing full well you were going into closed session (another suspicious thing which never happened before) at the beginning of a meeting? Too many unanswered questions regarding this one suspicious meeting and the video from it.

SERIOUSLY THE FILE WAS TOO LARGE WAS THE REASONING FOR THIS IN WHICH THE CITY CLERK INFORMED YOU. WELL LET ME INFORM THE CITIZENS THAT I'VE BERN TOLD RECORDINGS CAN BE HOURS LONG. Aren't movies hours long? That fish smell again with all the dead carp in the illinois river like the credible news tribune reported this summer along with pictures. LOL. Kinda like losing or misplacing documents.

Lets not forget that this Friday is "black Friday". We will be able to see how well the intersection at DQ works with all the out of towners coming to shop. I'll be watching.......

The best way to solve the traffic problme up by Venture Drive and Route 251 is to shut down those pesky businesses. That way we can all drive in circles just like our Mayor. Time for a "New Quiet Peru" - No businesses, No Traffic, No Nothing - just a bunch of fogies waving each other through the "Four Ways" and complaining about the birds making noise.

I just overheard some great news! I was eating lunch at the Olive Garden and I overheard some business guys from Chicago, I guess, talking. It sounds like they are going to take over the old K-Mart or Jewel building in Peru and open up what they are calling the largest adult theme toy and novilty store in the tri-state area. Not sure exactly what that is or what they will be selling, but they think it will attract all kinds of different people to the area. This is great news!

Actually there is some news (rumor) on the Jewel building. Several private citizens put together a study and forwarded it to the corporate headquarters of Trader Joes. For those unfamiliar, it is owned by the parent company of Aldi, and is a high end specialty grocer that would actually be the first on central il, and would likely attract visitors from surrounding cities. I heard they tried to run it by Vickrey but he didnt think much about the idea, (maybe because it wasnt his idea lol) but I am not certain of that.

I hope the unions won't try to block it or the old guard won't try to protect the other remaining stores like HYVEE. It will not be a direct competitor to family groceries and would definitely attract many out of town visitors. I hope it is more than a rumor. Maybe someone knows?

3:54. In my opinion the government shouldn't be trying to protect any businesses. The government shouldn't decide who wins and who loses, that is the job of the free market.

Someone on WLPO called Rod this morning and I believe he was already complaining about Adventure Drive.

Anonymous said...

So they are going to turn the old KMart building into a big porn shop?

Anonymous said...

Why doesn't Peru government have to justify raising its taxes? It committed over $22,000 to the concert this summer which the Mayor wrote off to the taxpayers expense. This administration can't even demolish a building properly. The administration and the council have been a poor mix and it is time for the voters to take corrective action. It would be best to dive into the unknown than to continue in a losing proposition.

Great idea. Porn Stores aka adult entertainment stores with private video rooms, would be a nice meeting place, however, I believe it's against the law to serve alcohol.

Anonymous said...

Hope all of the above is a rumor, if not city officials should have Peru ordinances to prevent and/or limit this filth from coming to town as much as possible. In a parochial community such ours people who populate this industry should be treated as unwanted.

Cmon 6:19. This is little Vegas! We had a parochial school working at a city sponsored Kid Rock concert! He was the guy who has made some of the greatest strip club anthems of all time! But it's ok now, he turned republican lol.
You need to lighten up. Adult stores are the natural next step for this "parochial" town.

Anonymous said...

Funny, I never thought of Peru as a parochial town. Quite the opposite.

Old K-Mart an adult book store. IF THAT HAPPENED IT WOULD BE THE BIGGEST ONE I'VE EVER SEEN. Not a bad idea...........PERU WOULD BE ON THE MAP. Those type of businesses are usually right off a highway exit and kinda secluded. Although reading and watching the news, it wouldn't surprise me if there would be a VIP ROOM for strictly politicians. LOL. Didn't I read somewhere this summer that someone said that the big name venue concerts in Peru, puts Peru on the map? Maybe the bookstore would too. Lol.

My goodness, gracious yes Peru is a parochical town. It has more churches per population than any other city in Illinois.

Peru Town Forum said...

and how does the number of liquor establishments compare to other towns of this population?

Some people seem to believe that BEING on the map is all that matters. There are a few of us who actually care WHY we get on the map.

Alcohol, gambling, failing high schools, hard partying concerts, union intimidation, closed city governments, gun club on every block and environmental ignorance are not generally considered bullet points on the chamber of commerce brochure when attracting new families. Unless maybe they are moving from Waco.

But we do have a few pro athletes. Better build a new sports complex. Go team.

Anonymous said...

Build it and they will come.

Anonymous said...

What seriously would a high school sports complex add to our community? Does the L-P Bd. actually believe that this is the project most needed for our high-school? How can you start at $10,000,000 and than reduce to $3,000,000 and still believe that you are going to obtain what was orginally needed? From all information I can obtain, especially the recent newspaper article the Bd. not only does not know what it wants but also does not know what it is getting? Come on people you are not ordering a eracer and three pieces of chalk start to think like a business person! Your proposed site is even highly questionable, seperate from the school and has a unfavorable cost analysis.

There is an election in April for LP board members right? Has anyone taken out a petition to run against any of the current board members?

Why in God's name would our City trust Vickery with anything? Why does Vickery have any say anyway. Come on Alderman! Get a set and run your own damn town. I wouldn't be proud to share anything with Vickery. Too much of a questionable path and I have yet to see any of his accomplishments that he started on his own. He always seem to end up in the spotlight, but please, "what has he done for us lately?" That ad idea he had could have been put together by an 8th grade art class. Hire professional Peru. Sucessfull professionals!!

Anonymous said...

Duh! That would be a new concept for Peru!

Anonymous said...

Vickery lost because he has been involved in a scandal in every office he was ever appointed to or elected to. Us citizens are getting fed up with no good politicians. That's why Harl and his cronies will never get re-elected as long as other citizens get involved.
