Public Meeting Ald. Mayszak and Ald. Perez Today

Ald. Perez and Ald. Mayszak scheduled a public meeting for today to make themselves available to their constituents and those of any other ward who wished to come for one hour from 1 PM to 2 PM.

It was generally agreed that it was well worth the time to attend. The aldermen answered any and all questions and others generally contributed to the conversation. A great comfortable atmosphere to brainstorm ideas for the city and to field concerns by residents.

This was not a formal meeting and was held in the community room at city hall. They hope in the future others will attend to have questions answered, to offer their opinions and feel comfortable talking about what you think the city is doing right or wrong. Ald. Ferrari is the only other alderman who came for a short while but the offer had been extended to all of them.

Today some of the topics were the ambulance service, garbage cans are not in the parks, why?, the ice skating rink and why is it not centrally located within the city?, the new fire dept. vehicle purchase, park district, is it a good idea?

If you were there, what did you think?

I thought it was an informative, open, and comfortable atmosphere. I commend the 2 aldermen for their time and energy to let citizens ask questions and feel comfortable doing so. I just wish other wards would do the same or at least other aldermen would participate in this forum. Thank you aldermen Mayszak and Perez. Hopefully these aldermen will seek answers to questions posed to them and research some concerns mentioned.

I was able to attend the meeting and I felt that everyone that had something to say was able to express their concerns in the open. Everyone participated in respectful dialogue. Great ideas. Felt very comfortable. Look forward to the next one. Thank you Aldermen!

Thanks to all that made it Saturday. We did take notes and will get back to you with any information we get.
Transparency is important! Our goal is to make constituents feel invited and comfortable with asking questions.. regardless of the the nature of questions. If we don't have the answers we will do what we can to get the answers.

Certain citizens choose to attend these form of meetings because they want to be involved in what is going on within the city, where.. regular council meetings can tend to get a bit heated at times which makes for some to feel uncomfortable.
All we ask at our meetings is.. "Respect for the individual whether we agree or not."

Every meeting we have had, has been very informative and respectful for everyone.

Our next Ward meeting will be in February.

Thank You,
Rodney Perez
