Starved Rock Country Alliance visits Galesburg incubator - The Times: Local

I hope someone else from the LP area was present beside Janko to see what can happen with cooperation and it must happen between the numerous local cities.

Peru won't get involved. Peru only wants sales tax.
Anyway - the only industrial expansion will be Non-Union, so Boss Harl definitely won't support it.

Anon 3:23 PM With your positive attitude I doubt if you are even from Peru. Sure Peru as well as any other city in this country wants sales tax but this does not indicate that they will refuse to accept any other positives.
What proof can you offer that Mayor Harl wouldn't support non-union industrial expansion? Remember that any industry that sets up in a area is going to be non union at their start.

The financial guy should help finish the St. Bede project before he runs over to Galesburg.

St. Bede is owned by the largest and richest organization in the world. It does not need any money from local business men.

6:35, I am from Peru. And your are wrong. The current administration won't blow their nose unless it results in more sales tax revenue. Period, end of story.
Concerning the unions - Boss Harl is a union hack and always will be. He is owned lock, stock, and barrel by local 150 - some good ol' boys from Chi Town.

I really had to grit my teeth to keep from saying something at the last council meeting when the mayor started on his rant about the suburbs, Peoria and Joliet in reference to a change of putting some of the volunteer committees together as one just like the aforementioned cities do. Mayor Big City is certainly not satisfied to work locally with other cities our size or so it appears from his comments. BTW I was not impressed but rather just irritated.

hey 6:51....tell us what happened to that project?

Peru does not only want sales tax. We are just very fortunate to have what we have but they are working on other projects. Comments from the blog clearly indicate the lack of understanding on how business works. The mayor and council don't just tell people to come on in. It is a process that takes years sometimes. Never has union membership been a prerequisite for a business locating here. Prove it if you know otherwise instead of saying things that are completely false.

Anon 8:59 PM You have made your statements without any proof. Please back up your claims with honest to goodness specific proof because as it stands presently all it is is BS.

Now we have some idea of what happened to the St. Bede nursing home project. This is really sad. The contractor is the only one speaking out. I have always felt that if you are telling the truth you can always speak out no matter what the lawyers say. So it looks like this is going to need a surprise ending.

Anon 8:59 PM Still waiting for proof from you!

Hmmmm... been out of town for a few days 4:23. Some things don't need proof. But, if it is proof you want, just look at past issues of the Local 150 newsletter.

Anon 7:58 PM Not a member of Local 150 so I don't get their newsletter. What does it say? What does a operating engineers pension and benefits amount to? With a extra $32,000+ would it be tough getting by?

the old edition - dating back to when Boss Harl was first elected - simply states that "We now have a brother in charge of Peru." It is implied that "he" will do what the unions leadership in Chicago tells him to.

Anon 6:41 "It is implied that "he" will do what the unions leadership in Chicago tell him to"
When using the word "implied" you not only have to consider the person expressing it but also how the person on the other end interprets it.
How much weight do you think your comment would hold up in a court of law?
As far as the comment "We now have a brother in charge of Peru" the past Local 150 newsletter is correct than and now, 1st and 2nd terms.
Lets be honest and admit that the Mayor position is to direct and lead the city and only has the power to vote in the case of a council tie vote. The city council in all reality makes all decisions. Remember this and vote with a knowledgeable unbiased opinion in the upcoming alderman election. These are important votes.

This in not a court of law. It's commonly known that Boss Harl has his own Boss at 150 in Chicago. That is how syndicates work. One Boss works for another all the way up to the big Boss. We know for a Fact that he is a 150 member and 150 largely funded his initial run. We know for a Fact that he is a card carrying member of the Illinois Democrat Party. These two Facts are enough to convince any logical person that he is taking orders.

Anon 11:51 Do you even know if Mayor Harl knows the CEO of Local 150? What kind of orders do you think the Mayor takes? Do you consider yourself logical or illogical?
This is not a court of law nor did anyone state that it is a court of law. It is also not a resident hang out for the brain dead so please find yourself a address better suited to your lack-ability.

Well now, must be hitting close to the truth to illicit such an emotional response.
I don't think the union local has a CEO. I believe the position is called President and Business Manager.
That being said, I don't know and don't care if our Boss knows the Local President. But, I'm sure he is not that far up the food chain. You see, despite all the trouble he is causing for us, Boss Harl is just a small time Boss of a Podunk City. He does what he is told and that is it. But he is making his bones in the Party (which is controlled by the unions) and will soon be moving on to "higher" office to sponge off a wider base of tax payers. What the position is, who knows. But I think we will learn before his current term as Mayor and Boss of Peru ends.
