Lincolnshire council adopts right-to-work ordinance

Lincolnshire council adopts right-to-work ordinance

Will this be the beginning of RTW cities?

Outstanding! That is the best thing I've heard since Quinn was fired.

Get excited about this if you wish, but it will never stand up in court as the Illinois Attorney General has already stated the action by the Lincolnshire council is unlawful. This type of union-busting legislation can only be enacted by the State legislature. Do you think Madigan will ever allow it to happen? Forget about it!

That taxpayer funded campaign magazine I received in my mailbox yesterday was immediately shredded and discarded to where it belongs. To use tax dollars to promote city officials (appointed and elceted) is an insult to each and every honest, hard-working resident of the city of Peru. I hope they don't intend on making a habit of wasting my money more phony crap like that.

7:29 - Please quote to me the section of the Illinois Constitution that prevents a local home rule jurisdiction from enacting a right to work law?

8:48, get over yourself, I'm glad to see the magazine, at least I can see the progress if our wonderful city without listening to the crybabies on the blog.

To 11:30 AM, There is no need to quote you anything. I will quote you what I told you already as it is the only thing you can be absolutely assured of. Right to Work cannot and will not happen in Illinois unless the Legislature approves it. Rauner cannot do it without support of Madigan and the Legislature. FORGET ABOUT IT!

12:18 PM, You PEE-RUU cheerleaders are sooooo lame in your defense of your friends and phonies at city hall. Why don't you offer to pay for the campaign magazine out of your own pocket if you are so proud of it. At least then it wouldn't be the blatant waste of tax dollars from the rest of us. How proud are you cheerleader? Put your money where your mouth is!

12:18 If you think the blog is full of crybabies, why are you reading it and commenting?

The crying is nonstop, although this time it is about a nice flyer. No one is voting for an alderman because of the mailing that went out. It was informative, professionally done and I have no problem with it. Of all the things in the world to complain about. Many cities have these but it is quite impressive that your shredded yours.

Speaking of crying, I don't have friends at city hall. I moved here because we have a strong community, incredible schools, low taxes and a great city. The people making things happening are not crying. They are ignoring you and continuing to move forward. I am one of an army of people and I have little to do with "city hall".

Run for office on whatever platform you have if you have the answers. When you win, just be sure to stop this travesty of wasted money with the flyer. You will be everyone's hero.

12:27, so query me this. What if, just by chance, the Lincolnshire council created this ordinance with the sole purpose of having it challenged in court?

Lets see... It would go the Circuit Court. What if they made a determination that it was perfectly legal? Hmmmmm... sounds like a "precedence" would be set that would allow other cities in that district to do the same thing. Or, perhaps they overturn the ordinance, which would be better. Because then it would go to the Appellate Courte - which would have the option to overrun the district court setting a higher "precedence." Maybe they will concur with the district court. Now it gets really interesting. Then "somebody" will help the city send this to the Illinois Supreme Court. These are very liberal minded judges on the Supreme Court. Maybe to liberal for the liberals... and they just might see that forcing somebody to pay for representation they do not want is an infringement on their rights to freely associate. Perhaps then they will set the precedence that all of Illinois should be "right to work."

Again - show me in the Constitution where is says that I must pay union dues.

2:44 PM, Again....Forget about it!

you will see 7:16. There is a fundamental change happening. People are tired of Unions and tired of overbearing government. I'm thinking in the next 2 years, a leadership change will happen in the Illinois House and Senate. It may not be a party change, but Madigan is definitely on his way out and his little girl is not tough enough to move beyond her current position. She might be facing some legal issues also - particularly since she is known for covering up corruption.

I heard Hicks has no chance of winning reelection as the County Board Chairman. He basically sold the Representative seat to Skoogy Do. In the words of another famous Illinois Democrat - he had something "effing golden" and he cashed in. But the people can see this and I'm betting He and Andy will be sent packing.

12:32 Get real. Not much will change unless the voters get tired of the union money game. One very important truth is that these unions are starting to cut retirement benefits to those who were promised a retirement wage and then after a few months find out about continued cuts in both wages and benefits. The trust has been violated and then the voting power that unions present will diminish. Sources say that the Skoog position will be greater funded by the Republican party and with the current State of our economy the area will lose that Democratic seat. Hicks has been around a long time and he is only susceptible with a strong republican candidate from Ottawa, or a county law suit that has further distrust from the taxpayers. The jail strip searches, tax liabilities or tax increase never seem to stick to the Board Chair. And does anybody really care about the position?

Anybody but Skoogs! Anybody but Hicks! Anybody but Boss Harl!

2:37, the jail strip search should've fall on the county board, that is the elected sheriffs problem.

It was not the Sheriff's problem either. It is Brian Towne's problem. The lady is nuts and should have been locked up in a mental hospital, not the jail.
