Peru Pickleball Players "Arrogance" Where is the Peru Leadership?

The Grabowskis do believe they are entitled because no one has told them they are no more special than any other resident of this city. Again the residents will get screwed because of lack of mayoral leadership in this city.

A special interest board endorsed by the mayor. It works for some members benefits, period.

Aldermen Perez and Mueller were made to look like fools at tonight's meeting by the rest of the council. The other six members should respect the committee structure or don't have committees. This rec board has had over one month to coordinate the rehab of both courts. Isn't it funny once the gates were locked today they were in contact with the entire rec board to attend the meeting tonight and called visitors to attend and also were in contact with the tennis company. They are suppose to be in town tomorrow to start removing poles at Washington Park. We will see. This is special interest at its best and the president of this board should be ashamed of himself for taking one side. He is there for everyone in Peru, not just a certain member of the committee. But as long as the mayor and the aldermen let him get away with these shenanigans it will continue. They did not get their way at the Public Property meeting so they could not get to the full board meeting fast enough. It was very evident that everything was cut and dried, the rec board president did not even have to speak.

It's a downright shame the favoritism that is shown to certain individuals in this town. And, it's usually the individuals who do nothing to help the city but are only interested in themselves and their individual activity. They are rude and arrogant and yet they get their way. They talk down to those who don't agree with them (and that includes elected officials). They are self interest individuals who are not even willing to "COMPROMISE" when one of their own makes a common sense suggestion. They care about no one else except themselves and what they want.

The complete absence of fair and impartial leadership was on full display here. Harl could not lead his way through a wet paper bag.
The double-standard exhibited by the six aldermen who decide to pick and choose which committee recommendation to respect and which to reject is so disrespectful to the people of Peru and the aldermen of the Public Property Committee. It is the responsibility of the Mayor to "lead" the meetings in a fair and impartial manner without bias. Add another failure to Harl's resume. These aldermen fail the first rule of governing. Check your personal feelings at the door and always remember you represent the entire city. Or wait a minute. Do they represent the entire city or just the ward they live in? Are they Ward Aldermen or City Aldermen? Maybe this question should be answered with a referendum to clarify Ward or At-Large duties for Aldermen.
Sounds like a plan!

Why would anybody be able to lock a public activity at a public park?

Who is the person yelling at the people, she wasn't on the camera? Why wasn't she on camera?

10:49 The rec board President spoke at the committee meeting and again at the council meeting. I do agree that team Perez-Mueller did look like fools. I am lost for words to explain on what is the special interest you refer to? Is it the pickleball players or those who oppose the game at the park? The solution was made and the company is on the way, why such a drastic response on padlocking the current courts?

This comment is made as a private citizen who has watched the nonsense from the Peru Recreation Board since 2009. Initially there were aldermen involved in decisions and then it was removed from their committee structure by Mayor Harl.

This group of individuals who are chosen by the mayor after submitting their desire to be on the board, has become totally dysfunctional and partisan. Pickleball was pushed thru, fireworks put out to bids was a struggle and other activities seem to be taken over in response to a board member who has an interest in that sport. Parks are neglected as is the playground equipment. Activities are done by the Recreation Director Linda Kasik who is pretty much on her own.
The mayor and city council don't seem to have an interest until something is challenged or a mistake occurs.
You the taxpayer give the board $50,000 per year by law for park and recreation activities. Many serve longer than the 5 years mandated by ordinance and if they wish to stay forever, it can be done. Fortunately after some perserverance, an ordinance at least requires them to attend 60% of the meetings and as a result some new faces have been appearing when old ones resigned.
Ald. Perez and Ald. Mueller as members of the Public Property have been attending and they are doing a good job with oversight but as shown in this video, their knowledge and decisions are easily blocked by the remainder of the council who have never been to a recreation board meeting.

The person in the white shirt addressing the ladies who can't be seen is? What position does he hold with the city or the park board that he has the authority to represent the city? From watching the video it is apparent that the unseen audience has a much better knowledge and history of the 28th street park than the City Recreation Board itself has.

The problem that I have with the rec president is that he appears to be backing the pickleballers and ignoring the tennis players and the people who have to listen to this game day in and day out. I think he should represent all Peru residents and not just a select few. He does not have all the facts.

Tennis players! wow that's a stretch. The courts have no tennis lines and no nets. Those who want to play tennis shuold go to the many other parks with tennis courts like Washington or Sunset. Or play on the street, the courts at 28th street are as accomodating as those in the street.

Maybe pickleball players should take up racketball. In a noise controlled room.

Can the two committee alderman disband the recreation committee?

2:12 You obviously are not familiar with the afore mentioned court. It most certainly does have a tennis net.

I'm glad to see and hear alderwoman mueller is stepping aside from the others and thinking for herself. I was concerned new blood on the council would sway towards the popular majority. It appears Locking the court up rattled enough cages to get things moving. I really don't feel that pickleball is a popular sport nor will it be. It's very unlikely it will be a success with younger adults even when located at Washington. Will the neighbors there have issues? I'm glad to see that mueller and perez stood their ground regardless of the battle they probably figured they would lose.

2:20 If they can it should by first on the agenda at their next meeting.

What's going to happen to pickleball in Peru when the ambassador and his wife move? Their house is up for sale.

If certain individuals move out of Peru and pickle ball was to be given a acceptable location, which it is presently in a misplaced tennis court, there will be very little problem.
As evidenced by last nights video all can see that the man in the white shirt carries his own self importance image too far and enjoys agitating others. This situation should have been finalized over 2 years ago by city representation and not by a lame plea for patience. Has anyone thought that pickle ball in Peru is the result of a individual with a financial background was coming to meetings and asking the city treasurer excellent financial questions about city business transactions conducted by city representatives.
This same person should replay his video of "Pickle Ball can be played Anywhere" upon his relocation.

I like billiards. Can I get the City to put a new billiards table in my local hangout?

Anonymous said...

Anon 8:10 PM Possibly, what did you say your last name was?

Anonymous said...

I like to play Jarts. Can we get the city to buy a Jarts set?

Anonymous said...

Sure you can get the city to buy a jarts set but you will have to wear a white shirt. If you get there 1st the city will also assign you your own park and equipment storage rights. Where you thinking of obtaining "Squatter's Rights" equal to the Ambassador of Pickle Ball.

Anonymous said...

Then you can be the Jarts Ambassador! But you have to wear a funny looking double beaked hat.

Anonymous said...

That's it. I will not refer to myself as the Ambassador for the Sport of Jarts and other Lawn Games; or simply ASJOLG.

Should work, the city loves to give big titles to people for no apparent reason whereas no qualifications are required for the job that the title is attached to. Plain and simple and the truth. Ambassador of bs, many people could have and should have that title.
