I have often heard that the citizens of Peru received their electrical charges for December free as a Christmas gift from the city. Could someone verify this?

How can the city allow this sinkhole to become a standoff with the property owner when it is a issue concerning public safety?

Are you serious anon 9:50? I can guarantee that I, a citizen of Peru, have never gotten my electrical charges free. However, I cannot speak for others and would like to know myself if anyone gets theirs free. Maybe the city workers do??

Yes at one time there was a Santa Claus in Peru. Many, many years ago at least 50 years ago, if you were up to date on your utility bill, the city of Peru gave you the month of December FREE.

In my opinion she is not responsible. I believe the City fixed several water leaks on the property therefor changing the integrity of the property, recall the 800,000 mg/d leak that lasted for 5 days last year? Not to mention due to the lack of maintenance of the hill that is sliding and improper implementation of a LTCP or 9 minimal controls per the NPDES permit for CSO discharge in which the tunnel is utilized, etc. Also I do not believe IR2 is/was suppose to run consistently because CSOs are NOT to discharge in dry weather...the only person to cost the City money is the engineering firm and the attorney. Once again we the taxpayers will suffer in the end for incompetence.

Anon 9:07 P.M. Because the light plant was owned by the city (taxpayers) they rec'd the month of Dec. FREE at least fifty years ago. The taxpayers still own the light plant what has changed?
9:07 you state that you are sure the select few get free electric and water. Would you or anyone else familiar with these freebies please elaborate?
I don't understand how a few get a city benefit and other citizens do not?

i am sure that cerain people dont get their power free-what is wrong with you people? anything to start trouble. maybe some of you dont pay your power bill and you consider that a freebie. its such a shame that you few people are so negative about everything, you should try to put your energy to better use.

I do remember that the City gave a small discount to customers that were current with their accounts in the last 30 years since I moved to town. It was during the month of December. And yes, I am a regular John Doe with no political relationships. I don't remember when it ended or why, but it was in place in the 80's.

Probably when the City bought the Hydro facility and became a member of the Illinois Electeic Municipal Agency. I believe the IEMA determines our rates now not the City. Who regulates the IEMA, the ICC said they don't regulate munipal power. Are they regulated?
