Peru is Growing

We always hear from the Mayor and the Council about growth and I have been thinking about that. Our population has mostly been in the 9 to 10 thousand range for many many years. If and when a major industry leaves, we go down and then a replacement comes in but probably not as good as the one that left and we get a few more people.

As I look at the layout of the town, we know we cannot grow to the south because of the river and east is La Salle. Commercial property lies to the north and I don't know that much in the way of residential growth will go that way. That leaves west for future parks and subdivisions and that is not allowing us much.

Considering we are located at the intersection of major highways and there is an airport,i f we attract industry, where would people build homes? If you wanted to build a new home, what would you be looking at? Should the city plan for more green space? We have never been very good at planning our city, so maybe it is too late to change much now. Is anyone in our government in a planning mode?

We didn't do a very good job when the subdivision of Marquette Manor 2 was built as now you have heavily traveled Marquette Rd. going right through the middle and N. Pulaski has a fairly large amount of traffic because of Baker Lake. Who is our city planner now?

Is this a dealership or a used car lot?

The city has plenty of room to grow west for residential and north for commercial.

So you would like to have a home built upon the flood plain of Sycamore Lakes?
Personally I find it one of the most unattractive locations in Peru. Or do you have another location other than that? Perhaps Dalzell?
Going north, when do we run into Dimmick Twp. Not sure how they would feel about our encroachment.

well lois that was a very rude comment-jealous of the homes that are out there? i personally find that area very attractive, those homes are beautiful, i would love to live there. why doesnt the mayor get that problem fixed-wasnt that on his campaign agenda-

I am not a subdivision individual and prefer a more developed area with trees and neighborhoods of young and old. Not meant to be rude and don't believe it was. Every year there is a lake in many backyards and it wasn't so long ago residents were complaining of exactly that. Still is not fixed and everyone is always blaming someone else as to who is at fault. I don't want a retention pond near my residence. If you live there and are satisfied that is what matters.

speaking of neighborhoods since when is it ok in the city to park your big boats in your front yard or your cars in your front yard? isnt there some type of ordinance against this? looks so tacky
