Does anyone know if the inventory of the swimming pool has been completed and if anything has been sold yet? That topic was brought up but never elaborated on. Rumor has it that a a Marseilles public works truck was spotted by our pool. Were they interested in buying something? It seems as though topics are brought up by our council but they also seem to die there. I still find it very hard to believe that 5 tables and 20 benches broke while trying to be moved.

sure they were-rightttttttttttttttt

Why has a member of the park and rec committee not pursued this issue. I know they are reading the blog. If the equipment is actually in town, tell us. If not, file a police report. Sounds like everyone is hiding something. Shame on you. Wait a minute, simple question, who has keys to this building yet? Pool managers? Rec board? City employee who does plumbing work? I wouldn't let this issue fade away. Somebody needs to provide answers.

Seriously? Some comments and accusations can go too far when someone alleges illegal activety. The pool equipment and supplies went out for bids to local communities/facilities.

Thank you.

I don't think anyone has alleged illegal activity Kristy. I think what people are alleging is that things are being done but the citizens (other than those who have connections) are left out in the cold. After all, this equipment was purchased with city money. If things were purchased where did the money go? Will we get a report?

Kristy I agree that some comments and accusations can go too far when someone alleges illegal activity and I believe someone is alleging illegal activity when they state to file a police report and that it sounds like everyone is hiding something.
I also believe that you would agree with me that business should be discussed in the open at city council meetings before the citizens. Also I believe that you would agree with me that the city should have SOP's to live by and short and long range plans developed before more money is spent.

SOPs do not seem to be a priority. After all, I would not be fighting for the past two years for a proper procedure for issuing a darn boil order. I was WITHOUT water for 3 hours yesterday (Henry to Harrison) and NO boil order was issued. This is not the employees job or foreman's, I am sorry this is the superintendent to issue. I believe he is the "custodian" of the distribution system.

This administration does not wish to be accountable and that IS a problem.

Kristy, was one of the bidders Marseilles? Is that the reason they were seen at the pool?

Kristy knowing that you are very good at investigating problems and reporting them to the proper individuals . You are also very good at creating logical solutions and documentation plus the follow-up to enforce these solutions.
Therefore I am surprised that you have not rec'd any co-operation for two years in regards to a boil order. If it is correct to state that it is the superintendents responsibility and by law it should be done who outside of the city administration is to be notified. Health issues such as this are very serious matters and should be responded to.

Simple question - Where are all the tables that use to be at the pool? If in fact they were damaged, where is the debris? Simple question-why was the Marseilles publics work vehicle at the pool? In my opnion, I bet the pool furniture fairy borrowed them.

I volunteered to write the SOP and any others that would assist public works but apparently my offer was never considered. Pardon my language, but sh*t runs down hill and it seems to be easier to blame employees when errors occur than realize the issue is a management problem. The real culprits are an uninformed administration who chooses to neglect assistance from any individual with experience or education on a topic. If employees were considered an asset to this administration they would implement SOPs, most employees like to have a clear job description and proper procedures to follow.

The superintendent is "over his head" and that makes it very difficult for employees to seek the proper advice. Here are a few examples:

Several employees refused to go into the boiler plant during the start of the demolition. Some entered but were concerned with the Mercury and the asbestos but still entered to try to complete their work. Employees should NOT have been exposed to either circumstance or placed in a position to choose between their health or their work performance. That is wrong and against the law. The administration was well aware and broadcasted the environmental concerns but still allowed the public/employees to be exposed. That little project was doomed from the start.

Another example why should an employee who is working on a repair or in the middle of a project be interrupted to perform paperwork, deliver lawn bags/stickers, issue a boil order, etc? That stops the flow of progress and adds unnecessary burden to an already stretched department. Do you know I watched them repair the leak down the street; valve problems to opening hydrants; I never once saw the superintendent on the site checking progress or preparing for a boil order. Recall in this City employees are labor and administration is paperwork but again no clear definition of duties.

Another thing, it is my opinion the City does not need a code enforce to punish those who don't cut their grass or clean up their property. Instead they need someone who can monitor regulations, maintain compliance with all municipal
codes, and oversee City projects are completed properly.

You have a building inspector working part-time who wants more money even though I believe only 1 actual building permit was issued last month. He has a full-time secretary who also wanted more money for her services and grant research even though we have it contracted out. (btw why wasn't Peru part of the teen employment grant through the State especially with 40 summer employees)? You have a City attorney who has no documented "boundaries" (btw he over saw the boiler plant project) and an engineering firm that... Need I
go on? Everyone has their hand in the cookie jar and nobody is actually monitoring to see who takes chocolate chip or who takes oatmeal?

Anon 11:48, that was the meanest thing I have ever read on this blog. I can't believe that the admin let that pass. Makes me think Kristy is on to something when you get an impassioned post such as that.

11:48 Apparently you think one of the leading occupations in the U.S. in numbers - janitorial services - is very low in skill sets. You should research before you elaborate because many very successful people including some of our local politicians are or were from this well respected occupation.

Actually, I kind of like 11:48. Free speech is a right of every citizen in this country. When the blog hosts starts to delete posts, then the blog doesn't serve its entertainment purpose anymore.

Kristy,

Pretending to have skills and qualifications is just that, "Pretending". If you want to work for Peru you should submit a resume describing your education, experience, etc. There may be janitorial opportunities cleaning city hall or IV Regional Airport offices. Anything else is far beyond your skill-set and we all know it.
You obviously have a lot of free time to sneak around trespassing or plotting little schemes with your "morally challenged" water department informant Drennen, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't qualify you as anything other than a sneak, a trespasser, a busy-body and the only friend of an "ethically retarded" city employee who wants nothing more than to bully her way onto the city payroll.
