What Do You Think about all of this?

Concrete benches and tables from the swimming pool. Ald. Ankiewicz stated they had been scattered all around Peru but residents have looked in the parks and none can be seen. I have seen one at the back of City Hall but the rest seem to have vanished. Anyone else seen them?

ESDA - Will Peru disband the organization to save money and turn the duties to the Peru F.D.?

1/2 % sales tax increase, will it become reality? Does the Mayor have enough votes to pass it? First he said we could sunset it by going through a referendum and then said no way will it ever be taken off.
How do you feel about it under those circumstances?

Do you or your family plan on attending the circus or the Big Time Rush Concert? Are they within your budget?

July 3 events coming up. Sounds like fun at Washington Park, will you be attending? And then going to Water Street for the Fireworks? Are you enjoying the use of our parks this summer and if so which is your favorite and why? How often do you go there?

The summer movies started June 20 at Maud Powell Plaza.Did you go or not ? Does location matter to you? Is Monday a good night to have them? How can the city improve on this family event?

There have been many topics discussed, and many questions asked, but answers seem to elude us. Questions such as you have asked above Lois and others such as "why do we hire so much more summer help than our neightboring town which has a pool"? Or, why are we seeking T-ball coaches when we already have plenty of young men working at our parks? Or, where is the survey regarding the sales tax increase that was to be in our city bills? Or what are we doing to correct the water meter problem with the mall? etc., etc.

I paid my light bill today and asked why the survey wasn't with my bill. I was told it would be in next month's bill. I jotted down my NO vote on a separate note. And hope we don't go the way of the state and federal government with free-will taxing.

The city is getting a Rural K store which is to bring 60 to 70 jobs to Peru. 60 to 70 jobs plus those which trickle down from Rural K being here are a nice add on to Peru.
I don't believe that it is sensible to greet this corporation with a blown up rat. If a individual wants to go to work sign an application for the job, if he doesn't want to work there leave those alone who do. All this is accomplishing is to make it more difficult to get other firms to follow Rural K into our community. I hope that Rural K does not think that the man sitting in the lawn chair with his pet rat are from Peru, Illinois nor represent Peru, Illinois in any form or manner. They are not and they do not.

The Mayor may have enough votes finally for the sales tax increase. By reading the newpaper you have a no from the ultra conservative less spending German Potthoff, it looks like a no from Ankiewicz, no from Waldorf. The rest of the city Alderman will back the Mayor and we will get the money we need to bring wages and streets to the 21st century. Why bother with a meaningless survey? And why shouldn't we support union wages for jobs at Rural K, the courts upheld the right to place a rat anywhere?

Is it true that the city is discussing raises for a few chosen employees? This at the same time they are discussing tax increases and hiring more staff. You can't be serious.

Am still looking for someone, anyone who knows where the concrete tables and benches from the pool are.

We were told from someone working at city hall, that when they tried to move some of them, the concrete fell apart, so maybe they are in the piles of concrete at the landfill. They must have used some of that same "falling apart" concrete on some of our curbs.
Seriously can concrete fall apart just from being in the elements for yours?

Even if that's true (and I find that hard to believe) where are the rest of them?

I notice there is one at the cemetery by the "greenhouse" and one at City hall. Visually I have not located the others. I find it VERY difficult that they crumbled-unless they were dropped in moving.

Stealing is still stealing unless those items were given to you by someone in the city and then it would be that employee's responsibility to fess up or if found out, he/she should be fired for STEALING. Unless sold and paid for, it was not theirs to give. Maybe a lot more will just fall apart..........

They didn't fall apart. Who told you that line? Ask the park mgr where they are at.

It was asked of the Mayor's administrative aide and I don't know who the park mgr is and didn't know we had one. Our parks certainly don't look like they are being managed, they look like pathetic, an embarrassment to the city.l

At the meeting it was stated that the duties formerly done by ESDA would now be split between the Police Chief and the Fire Chief, as would the salary.
Excuse me, wasn't the reason ESDA was brought up was to reduce our expenditures? Do you know what the salary of our Police Chief is now?

Who runs the park barn? Ask him.

I have an idea. Ask the city clerk how much those park benches cost when they were originally bought for the pool. If they cost over $300, it would be considered a felony if they were stolen. I think the individuals might want to refresh their memories on the location of the tables. Even if they were truly broken and disposed of.

At the cemetery? For what purpose, may I ask?

It's over $500.00 now for a felony...
