Please Read the Paid Ad by Defeated Aldermen and Mayor, Current 7-1 Council and Long Retired Members

A very large paid advertisement was in todays News Tribune and I did not see a Paid for by at the bottom but reputable people are commenting that it  was our previous mayor who has already been defeated at the polls twice. Supported by our current 7 member consistently voting as a bloc Peru City Council except Ald. Perez. and 6 long retired council members who have not been involved in anything in the city for many years except Ald. O'Beirne who we will remember as running and being elected as Treasurer and then changing his mind after the election in 2009.

It is very apparent to me that all the names have a so called horse in the race and you might say that some still have influence upon the current city.

If you need a refresher course in our current city government, this blog has large archives and our city has many videos of the city council. Make your decisions but not upon past loyalties because the city must look ahead to get this city moving a place to want to move to not move away from.

Thank you Jack O'Beirne for making a great argument FOR a yes vote.
As for the paid ad, it just makes people ask the obvious question of "what are they all so damn afraid of?" Why would aldermen, past and present be so adamently opposed to a wide open field of competition. Very obvious they are only trying to protect their asses. Sad.

Didn't some of those names listed get voted out? Now that tells me something. VOTE "yes."

The old guard is trying to protect secrets from the past

Who owns PVAS?

When the door is opened these people will wish they werent in Peru and the truth exposed

As a resident of the 4th Ward SHAME ON YOU ALDERMAN POTTHOFF! To put yourself in this group of bullies is embarrassing to me and our city. I trusted you were different but old money has its ways of changing our city!

I was on the fence but its a YES today for me something is fishy with so many against it.

Typical conspiracy thinkers on the blog. Reputable people my ass Lois. Don Baker didn't pay for the ad. The only "free thinkers" are those that agree with Lois. What a joke. Who's the real bully here? I already voted NO!

No cursing please. I was always voting no and this hasnt change my mind

Jack's article has just changed my mind. I will also now be voting no.

I have asked at least 25 questions on this forum in which there has been no answers. The reason there has been no answers is because my questions have validity to truths. And I could if ever needed would be able to back my questions up 100% as to why I asked. I'm a very reputable person that speaks and blogs the truth. Also, the reason nobody answers my questions is because they know I'm right and have basically let the cat out of the bag. VOTE YES!!!!!

Thank you for the post because your comment let me know that the referendum is absolutely the right thing for Peru.

What a bunch of fools . vote yes !

How does this make Boss Hurl feel knowing all his yes men and woman are still Baker boys ?

Please remember that just last week 2 of the signers were out removing a sign for the referendum from a rental yard. What is he afraid of?

I understand many signs were put up today on property owned by other people ready for change and improvement in this city.

A quote from he ad....
"Since March 2009 (a short 5 years ago) 8 of the 11 elected offices in Peru have changed hands.
Explanation:
Defeated in the elections were Don Baker, Judy Heuser,Jamie Mertel, Bob Ankiewicz, 2 passed away Ron Wren and Joe Mikyska, Jack O' Beirne retired after refusing to be Treasurer which he ran for and the remaining change must have been because of redistricting in the second. Mueller was added in the first which was formerly held by Radtke.
And the point of all this is what? It has nothing to do with the point of this referendum which is to add two at large aldermen to the city council.

Why arent my un rude comments on the forner aldermab canidate being posted? I thnk its important to share that with the public

Peru Town Forum said...

Because the individual is not running for election or in an elected position at this time. Unless private individuals post with their name or they give me permission to use their name or they have publicly put into the public arena as all those who signed the ad in the paper Saturday, I do not post comments about them.

7:50 AM Additional post is that person is in an elected position but not with the city.

Would anyone but me like to know what our Mayor's stance on this referendum is? Since his name is not on the paid political ad will his vote be a yes? This referendum if passed could be a turning point in Peru politics as we know it today. Our former mayor has openly expressed his opinion by signing his name, where is Mayor Harl on this issue? Once again the mayor is silent.

My personal opinion is that he does not want to be on the losing end so he is keeping his cards close to his vest and saying nothing.

Wonder how the 7 aldermen, who signed this ad, would have re-acted if alderman Perez had placed a paid ad supporting the referendum???

Anonymous said...

That paid political ad was the most hypocritical thing I have ever read. Those of us who know the truth about these characters are still laughing about these phonys claims to welcome "citizens involvement in governemnt". I almost fell off the recliner when I saw that nonsense.
One thing is for certain, none of the people who signed it had anything to do with writing it. It was well written I must admit. Too bad the content was fiction and fantasy. In addition to Baker paying for it, as I know O'Beirne, Waldorf and Lukosus can't bear to part with a nickel, The Don paid an attorney to write it too.
Again I ask, what are they afraid of? Why do they fear competition?
Why is anything that is different in any way poison to these people?

Anonymous said...

What I want to know is why our current aldermen are openly supporting and backing former mayor Baker and some former aldermen. Can't they do anything on their own? It's once again, in my opinion, the 7-1 mentality at work.

Anonymous said...

Not smart enough to think for themselves.

Anonymous said...

When was this in the paper?

Anonymous said...

Yesterday's weekend's daily disappointment

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:57 AM You have asked why is anything different in any way poison to these people?
There are several reasons of which I'll list a few and maybe others can do the same.
Peru has had a history of being a town with a wide interpretation of the disciplines granting the grantors and those granted a lucrative existence which specifically would be best keep secret or forgotten and not to favor a radical change of powers of the way things have always been done. This is known best by the oldest and most influential through experience and often times enforced by the same because of financial accumulations and the most to lose.

Most of the signs are on state property

Anonymous said...

@4:14, I haven't seen one sign on state property. Please list the locations.

Anonymous said...

4:14 I totally agree with you. Where are the signs that are on state property? Be specific please if you're going to make a statement like that.

Anonymous said...

The only sign on state property is the hicks sign!

Anonymous said...

check by the caseys lot. at the west end

Lois prints the names of the current and former alderman but she won't print the names behind the petition. NO TRANSPARENCY!

Anonymous said...

Where is the hick?

Anonymous said...

7:55 There are many, many people behind the petition. How can you possibly expect Lois to name them all. Even she doesn't know all their names. Nobody does.

Anonymous said...

Waht's the matter 7:55 am. Suffering from a bad case of petition envy? Lois won't allow you to lash out anonymously at somebody you are obviously afraid to approach face to face, and you find that very frustrating don't you? Well now you know how most of us feel when our elected officials ignore us. I suggest you get over to IVCH and look into a little "Anger Management" counceling.
I have a feeling after next Tuesday you are going to be about ready to blow. In the meantime breath deeply and slowly count to 10. Or you could always approach those courageous soles who have undertaken the referendum effort and confront them face to face.
No? Oh, that's what I thought.

I agree 1212

Anonymous said...

Where is the HICK sign and state your name.

Anonymous said...

251 and shooting park that sign remains on state property still

Maybe the old mayor will steal the one too

Bob: If that sign is on state property and you have a problem with it call the state and do something about it. I do know that that corner has been under debate many times as to who or what can put a sign there.
